I am soon buying a new laptop. Is it worth it to install osX on my old x220?
I don't know benefits osx have over gnu/linux aside from being harder to install.

OSX can be a real cunt to install. You need an OSX VM to even start.

depends on how old is your computer, and what version of OS X you're going to install. IIRC, Mojave cannot run on machines that run on Intel 4000 HD Graphics or earlier GPUs. It takes patience and time to get the machine perform to your satisfaction. Half the battle is just booting into the installer. Just check out hackintoshing forms and be clear about the problem you are describing. Installation is difficult than something like Ubuntu, but easier that I presume that it's easier than Gentoo.

makes it 10 times cuter, ask /tpg/

seething

Well its half shit

They are though.

>shitty os running in overpriced and locked-down hardware
Yeah no

>easier than Gentoo
No it's not. Hackintosh is literally the most difficult OS to install: because you're not supposed to do so and the developers have gone out of their way to make sure you DON'T install it.

I've done this with an X230. The only new hardware I needed was a USB WLAN dongle and everything worked fine. After about a month I went back to Ubuntu with Unity because OSX is a dumpster fire for doing anything other than watching gay porn. Ubuntu has 90% of the shit I need for work out of the box, it includes a real package manager so I don't have to hack on extra shit like homebrew, and I get centralized repositories that make it easy to install any extra software I need. It also has better power management and drivers.

Other than Adobe or Autodesk garbage that no one here uses, there's nothing that runs on OSX that won't run better on Linux.

>hackintoshing is harder than installing gentoo
lol, no.

First thing in the morning, what do I see? A pile of shit staring at me. I close my eyes, I step away. No matter where I go, there’s no getting away. Take your poo to the loo. Take your poo to the loo. Take your poo to the loo. Take your poo to the loo.

Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, next to you. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, where is that loo?

I step out on the street. What do I smell? Shit that’s stinky to high hell. I hold my breath, I step away. But everywhere I go, there’s no getting away.

Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, next to you. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, where is that loo.

Shit, not shit, this shit, that shit. Let’s see now. Let me check. Happy birthday. Happy birthday.

Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, next to you. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, everywhere. Poo, poo, poo, poo, poo, where is that loo.

It most definitely is.
