Tried Tixati recently. It's very lightweight and like it a lot so far.

It also implement some sort of distributed IRC like chat that allows you to browse and download torrents shared by other people.

I used Deluge before Transmission. I switched because it took ages to start with a few dozen active torrents.

transmission appears to be where its at today.
i used deluge for a long time and in my experience deluge tends to shit itself if you have a lot of torrents running at once.
