this guy does things that are really stupid.
but we have common-ground on our understanding andor love for SD Express Card (SDE Card) [SDE SSD PCIE NVME Card].

>so basically the idea with this is you can have something the size of a micro-SD-card that literally can function at the speed of a ha- like an OPERATING!- so a SYSTEM! hard-drive
>so that's 1 thing too again when we talk about SPEEDS! you know with with STORAGE! there's STORAGE! that's FAST! enough to STORE! data like for like long-term storage of data uhh documents that kinda stuff. then there's the speed that's fast enough to be able to push and pull a high-res video too; right. that's a different type of speed. but THEN! there's the speed that you can actually run an OPERATING! system off of. so what's REEEALLY! freakin' cool an amazing about htis stuff. is that theoretically. they're saying. that this. this would be an SD-card with the speed that you can fully-run real operating systems from. again. you tera. you combine that with like a tera-byte of storage.
>and that basically means that you can have a FULL! operating-system; the whole 9-yards; sitting on uhh something the size of your THUMB-NAIL!! ...
>which would be absolutely, absolutely, utterly, fascinating.
They're going to find some way to turn it into shit. It's an SD card. It's not going to perform like a NVMe SSD.
Maybe not. SanDisk, WesternDigital, Samsung all working on this. It'll perform as well. Tho it is PCIE x1. So.
nigger
nigger
The SD association is also working on it. They've managed to fuck up every previous SD standard. Sure it might be fast for medium size linear transfers, but it slows down after a few GB and you may as well be using a floppy drive if you're doing random access.
I think this is to address all of that. Maybe we're gonna get a large side with fast speed. Like how SSD's actually go faster and perform better if they get larger.
Linear. And that's less than a third of the linear transfer speeds on real NVMe SSDs.

>WE'RE GONNA START GETTING A LARGE LARGE SIZE WITH FAST SPEED!!
What do you mean?
When you do random access, all disks get way slower than when copying a single large file. For instance, this is why it takes a lot longer to copy a million 4 KB files than it does to copy a single 4 GB file. SSDs handle random access way better than HDDs, but still take some hit. SD cards go way slower. This is why even if your SD card supports a couple hundred MB/s, it's still slow as shit if you try to run an OS off it.
