Most cameras don't actually properly flip the images they take. They just add an EXIF tag that tells programs to flip it the right way around.

actually that hole in the tray is a huge security vulnerability which I verified in an internal audit. if you put disks in there it doesn't cover the disc surface allowing rogue heads to steal your data. if you actually use optical media make sure to tape over the hole so your data can't be stolen.
