WinRAR archiver has has serious security bug for 10+ years but it was only recently notified.

Update it immediately to continue safe use.

500 million people prefer to use WinRAR over opensource alternatives, telling maybe something about the quality of opensource.

There is now 100 security attacks which utilise WinRAR to gain access to your files.

>ALL OF THEM require some version of Microsoft Windows while Linux is invulnerable to this bug even if a Linux user uses WinRAR, which is possible to do

I use 7zip

Nearly all archiver formats have some patch traversal mechanism that can be exploited and extract file outside it's archive's root directory.
I really wish devs were not such retards. It's not a crime to have something like that in specs, but then implementing a safe mode and making it default is essential and verifying safe archive should be trivial.

why not use 7zip?

>using Windows
tard spotted

If you use windows, why would you use WinRAR over 7zip? Are there any real benefits? Also, what are the benefits of .rar over .tar + gzip, bzip,xz?

Adds about 3fps in CS:GO

WinRAR can make very comfy multipart RAR files to spread around on smaller medias, not sure how good 7zip is at doing those

Remind me when drag and drop extract works recursively in all nested folders in 7zip.

All of them also use open source, so yea.

Good attempt though. But currently it's your proprietary crap that has been broken for 10+ years.

It extracts all folders contained in the whatever archive, yes?

not the OP but if select multiple archives in 7zip. how do you "extract each archive to separate folder" like in winrar?

>But m-muh file extractor productivity advantages

Ctrl+click on archives then right click and select under 7zip menu extract to ... and then it creates every single archive folder, fucking dumbshit

Alternatively we play the stupid game:
Quads buys WinRAR

B1 is complete ass and the UI looks like a 4 year old shitted on it, ate the shit then threw it up on his keyboard and made it.

thank you lads, but 7zip needs to change the horrible submenu, "*\" really?

It does currently?
