All gaming jokes aside, if you have $2000+ in monitors, GPU, CPU, RAM, etc plugged into your wall WITHOUT a UPS, you're dumb.

Even if you've NEVER had electrical issues before, a UPS is ~$100 for a solid unit, $150-200 for a high end unit, and either one will keep your expensive shit from getting fried, or in the case of a simple power outage, allow you to shut down safely and save any potential work you're doing.

Lmao yeah, fuck spending $100-200 so I don't have to deal with the days or weeks it would take for my insurance to actually pay out.

You don't wait, you just buy the thing immediately and get reimbursed by insurance. A surge protector is only going to work again minor fluctuations in power usually caused by bad local infrastructure, if you think a shitty $100 protector is going to stop a lightning arc you are mistaken.

Ryder White

and get reimbursed
Again, i'm still waiting days or weeks for parts to ship in, ON TOP of having to pay out of pocket, reimbursement is great, until they find some act of god clause in your insurance and oh you weren't paying for the my power company is garbage coverage, so you're shit out of luck.

Again, you're fucking stupid if you're unwilling to invest in something simple and cheap that will negate this from EVER happening to begin with.

You're right about the lightning thing, but your house electrical system should protect against it. And if your house wasnt up to modern code then your insurance company will give you the run around for as long as possible and you'll have to sue, which will be expensive and long. Do you have health insurance? You're being scammed? Do you have auto insurance? You're being scammed. Home? Life? All scams, the fact of the matter is that insurance as a whole is a scam. The jews won and made it so that people think paying money for precautionary protection is sensible. They pocket 90% of the revenue they make and the moment something bad actually happens, they're stingy and uncooperative.

I use an APC Back-UPS 550. I did have to replace the battery inside after years of use not that long ago but that's normal and was simple to replace. I still need to find a damn place to recycle the old one though I keep forgetting to do that.

Jeremiah Anderson
Jeremiah Anderson

There is no need to own something like this. A cheap one is going to have poor power management and delivery and is as likely to be a source of electrical damage as it is to be preservation from it. Buy a decent surge protector instead. If you want to be serious about it, either wire-in in-line surge protection at the socket or breaker itself, or pay for an electrician to do it.

UPS are for people doing work that needs to be save in the event of power failure, not for people playing games. I would not recommend this to someone who isn't using gaming as their business.

Cheap UPS is more likely to kill your equipment than a decent surge protector.

The sole and exclusive remedies of the Initial Customer are those provided by this Warranty.
1. This Warranty does not apply unless the Product and the equipment that was connected to it were connected to properly wired
