you shouldn't have used a dumb weeb image for the op

cloud gaming

>Google cloud

Are they going to rent some servers from Amazon to do this?

huur duur gaymus streaming
what is lag

When it comes to gaming, I've devolved to only caring about Splatoon, honestly. Feels a little bad but I do save money from not buying shit anymore.

>not knowing where you are

google is the server dummy
Microsoft and sony are truly finished
holy shit its netfix for gayims on potato PCs

where does it lead?

Google is slower on the uptake of cloud than fucking Microsoft. They're powerful, but cloud is not really one of their strong points (they do own the software that is in common use in cloud services, though).

At least for now.

microsoft is also doing cloud gayming for next gen xbone with azure.
sony is done lmao
unless they team up with aws

Is this how we manage to push gaming on linux?

yup google basically won overnight

Basically. What reason would anyone have for using Windows if AAA games can be played on any platform?

if it has chrome it has AAA gayming
this is incredible to say the least

>google is the server dummy
what did user mean by this?

Attached: clouds.png (770x391, 76K)

It's a cloud platform, of course it runs Linux. What sort of imbecile would run their servers on fucking Windows Server?

>multiple GPU
Who fucking cares. Games wont be more fun due to slightly better graphics. It's not porn.

>fiber optic backbone that only google has
>20% share
yeah i say they are the gayman server

I guess steam isn't forever

It means the games run on the linux kernel with the gnu OS.

poor gaben
they got steam rolled

So, if developers are making games for stadia, its linux+vulkan? Does that mean everything will be linux compatible on steam soon? Fuck this thing, but that rocks

>REZ shirt
wow im impressed

blue wallpaper with an abstract monkey face
perhaps the guy that wrote that shit is not happy about being a code monkey nigger?

Time to do away with my last reason for having Windows dual boot.

yes.
luckily for steam they funded vulkan so they have some stake in it so they are not completely out of the picture

Chat disabled

Unless they plan on running most things in wine, I can't see this in the short term.

It probably means you get to buy a limited time license to play the game in the cloud for a year before you need to renew.
Why would they let you play a game naively when they can kill piracy by never releasing the binary to begin with?

Because Steam will still have a massive playerbase for years to make money off of

you bring up interesting point.
is this the end of piracy?
at least on windows it is.
even if it leaks it will be linux only.
lmao

>ML: style transfer
hahahaha, retards

who let that spic on the stage, wtf?

so if 1 billion people play games in the same time, at 1080/60 fps, will that crash the servers?

Attached: 1552320930106.png (855x781, 438K)

It leads to pic related

Attached: unnamed.jpg (3673x2185, 223K)

You think steam won't sell limited time passes for games? They already sell games which literally don't work, this isn't much of a stress.

>even if it leaks it will be linux only.
or it could be whatever custom architecture they are using which could make it impossible to run on consumer hardware.

Okay, I've heard and seen enough. Tell me this isn't just all a fucking ruse to sell games "as a service".

Attached: screw-you-guys.jpg (480x360, 10K)

Pls explain to a brainlet where Google gets its revenues.
Don't tell me it's merely Youtube ads.

I think steam will continue to sell games for download? Im saying there will be more native linux games available due to more people developing for it. Its not like stadia will take over the world overnight

moot gives them the Jow Forums ad revenue

What else would it be?

Provides servers for developers to host their games. Sells access to games like steam does, except its all for rent.

ive been telling you that they are doing cloud gaming since 2017
you can find my posts in the archive where you called me a retard
they are doing custom x86 cpu so yeah its a unique architecture.

yeah that's what's going to happen but where do they get it now?

nice digits, retard

Maybe. That will depend on how approachable it is to smaller developers who might not have the resources to completely retool. The larger publishers would probably move over fully to the service if it takes off.

>Game Developers Conference
>literally video game character OP
>w-weeb!
nice job you fucking retard

it's obviously just their first step towards selling desktop as a service. Soon you will be able to stream in your PC from any device, provided you pay a monthly licensing fee and accept DRM software to control all aspects of your PC usage.

>hey we have custom servers with restricted access and you can let other people join it :)

They really try to sell the most mundane shit as the second coming of christ, lol.

Why? If its on vulkan porting between windows and linux isnt that bad

All of your gaming data, chat and voice logs.

Creators, CREATORS, cREATORS

Attached: developers_developers_developers.jpg (320x240, 11K)

Yeah, it's fucking hell. I got that.

Because you will need to host the games on google's platform. That will probably require some custom tooling for the service, and those tools may not be free. The business deals might also be unprofitable to smaller companies.

thats the _soy version of developers desu

The regression of home computing is now. Long live dummy terminals.

Attached: terminal.jpg (220x195, 14K)

Im talking more AAA developers. Even if the game isnt developed for linux outside of Stadia, Proton does a brilliant job with Vulkan

JUST

What do they do with those data?

OY

rip modding I guess

having access to the game data was fun

Attached: 1552251288848.jpg (1280x1024, 245K)

The same things they are doing with all of the email, search, and youtube data

Mate, have you ever seen an Nvidia presentation? This is aimed at /v/-like people. Making toasts is magic to them.

other user clearly didn't see you mention YouTube. They're the biggest advertising company in the world if that helps
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Ads

Creating profiles of you.

>Modding
>Modern AAA games

user, indie games and simpler shit will never disappear. This is about the biggest players and those have killed modding in their games years ago.

GET FUCKED REMAINERS

Attached: file.png (275x154, 47K)

At least Stalker modding will be eternal now that the source codes are in the wild.

Attached: 1487117847121.png (444x429, 418K)

kek im not even in the european union

Normally I’d say the maps api price increase would have been a faux pas if they had this in the pipeline, but maybe no npc remembers.

>their own internet
>their own data center
>their own custom hardware
>their own publisher
>their own software
wow they literally nuked the rest of the gaming industry.

>Shis hard on Nvidia.
>Shits hard on Microsoft.
>One of the biggest companies on Earth.

It's not a bad feeling. Even if nothing else came out of this, at least Unity and Unreal Engine will be forced to unfuck their absolutely horrendous Linux support.

>want to play gamu
>I'm sorry user, service is currently unavailable
>please insert coin to try again
the future is now

Attached: umaru_dance.gif (540x304, 980K)

nice, a new google project! this is sure to last more than 2 years past the date of this post.

it might work for non-action oriented games, but if you've ever seen what a modern multiplayer game looks like without client-side prediction it will never be better to stream in a timing-sensitive multiplayer game where the input latency is between you and your client than play a game on your PC where the input latency is between your client and the server. It's just a fundamentally worse scenario.

Attached: nige.jpg (685x380, 41K)

they literally just said that they can support and will demo 1000 player multiplayer match.
this is some next level thing

it's a horrible feeling
Google owns the world, but they didn't show it in your face before
the fact that they just did means they're confident nobody can take them on anymore

Steam can't afford to angering their playerbase even more now epic is a thing.
As long as google don't start bribing devs to make it exclusive, everything is fine.

And (You) are helping them by using Google every single day. Go 2 days without using Google. I bet you can't.

sure, and that might be enough for the average player to accept that it will take 100+ms for their button presses to have a corresponding action in the game, but you underestimate the amount of faking that your average multiplayer game does to make you believe your actions are having an immediate effect inside the simulated game on your PC. The promise of the platform is that the game is totally streamed, so your device has no control over the simulation and as a result your input is always going to take exactly as long as it's going to take and there's no way to pretend like it happened immediately.

It's not ready yet. Did you watch the stream at all? It looked like shit.

>Google owns the world
Yes, yes we do.

Don't be evil.

Zoomers with their 100ms console and tv imputlag will think fell that 80ms streaming is sharp as katana.
The future is here.

No piracy.
No modding.
No pcs more powerfull than atom stream boxes.
Eventualy workstations will be cloud based.

And few overlords, that will have all the data.

It's already lost with recaptcha

All empires eventually fall.

Google does a lot of crappy shit. Might as well support them when they actually do something good for once.

this is the only way forwards for now for almost all applications, games or not.

die shrinks are a dead end and woefully inadequate to maintain the pace of change we have become accustomed to.

the distributed cloud computer is the future.

I hope this fails spectacularly. If google can kill the direct to consumer _aaS trend for a few more years I'll be happy

Attached: 1552153661397.jpg (375x375, 15K)

Based and redpilled

What AI are they using this to train?

Attached: geppetto.jpg (1462x1462, 375K)

if they can train an AI to do server-side prediction to solve then they could actually take over completely.

>Google does a lot of crappy shit
A lot more good than bad.

What makes me a little skeptical is that most of the news about this seem to be about all the secondary features like playing on any device, the controller, multiplayer features, some machine learning game skinning tech. Not much said about how playing it actually feels like and is it responsive enough.

because the fundamental laws of physics mean it will always be a less responsive experience. Unless there's some insane AI that's perfectly predicting what you're going to do before you do it, the message from your keyboard to your PC will always be faster and more reliable than from your PC to a data center.

>game streaming

>there's no modding in AAA gaemes

i love modding Skyrim:Special Edition on my home computer! it is really worth the 40bucks

OnLive, Gakai, Nvidia, Microsoft and some other one I forget

Tried 5 times, failed 5 times. You can shill MUH SERVERS ALL OVER THE GLOBE all you want, going from effectively zero input delay (minus TV response) to potentially 100ms+ is not going to be enjoyed by anyone but the biggest morons. For every Civilization and Europa Universalis where that delay isn't TOO bad, there are 10 CSGOs and Forzas where that shit makes it effectively unplayable to an enjoyable degree.

These companies look at movie industry where almost everyone on Earth is a tool who pays forever for streaming services and owns absolutely nothing for it and has zero control over availability terms and library and now they want to get that same stupidity into games, luckily with it being input based it has failed every time so far.

Microsoft's Azure services have several times more servers than Google globally and even that couldn't deliver "acceptable" lag for game streaming, so Google definitely won't be. Also who wants video compression artifact on a game? I tried 2 game streaming service trials before and that type of compression is REALLY annoying in games vs movies, especially in low light scenarios (which can be entire games).

This is turning into a perennial scam where they just keep coming back with these streaming services every few years and throwing out the latest tech buzzwords to sell the service to 16 year olds too young to remember the last failed attempt.
