Our own Internet

The Internet is dying. ISPs and countries blocking free speech, everything is controlled by the big companies that invade their users privacy and view every aspect of their lives. Social media is letting people spam their social commentary of bulshit. What was supposed to be a tool for discussion and reaching solutions has become the opposite.
So why don't we make our own?
A net that is
>free
>open source
>peer to peer
>well organized
>managed by a group of voulenteers
>free of social media
>allowing for free distribution of knowledge and media

The network would be used for constructive discussion and not for useless bullshit.

What do you think, Jow Forums?

how to send data. google fibre optic cables underground, beneath ocean, beneath sea. isps cables around world, satellites, etc. how you send data from person to person you nitwit.

GNUnet exists. Get more developers on it.
There's also the Jow Forumsternet project but people involved stopped posting here.

redpill to me GNUnet

It's literally a better Tor+I2P, but it's developed by autists who don't care about making it accessible.

You do not understand how networking works, the main problem is hardware and the physical medium to transfer data.

everything you mention in green has been around for a long time ... if you really want to get out of the internet, you have healthy alternatives nowadays, but do not expect pages overloaded with images of shit and feminist designs:
> gopher
> freenet

>peer to peer
im not hosting your porn faggot

is that the one with the atrociously ugly gtk frontend

Yes. It's also so slow that download speeds are measured in single-digit bytes per second.

Use Internet via ham radio. There's even a Linux client out there. Somewhere. Years ago.

What are you doing on the internet that truly needs high data throughout?

you can't escape the botnet, you can fuck with it tho, just obfuscate your data, its not hard

>dial-up speeds are all you need

wow just stop.

you're not allowed to encrypt ham transmissions
use ssl and the fcc has you by the balls in no time

What ever happened to the Jow Forums internet project last year

answer the question

Accessing the modern internet.

I'll make the logo

it died, like all Jow Forums projects

I'm sorry, I live in America where we have a 1st Amendment and our internet is uncensored.

Enjoy your censored internet Yuro/NZ/Aus cucks and also being jailed for having an opinion.

Attached: xxxaa.png (757x543, 54K)

calling people a racist word is not an opinion worth having.

Reminder that the reason Americans aren't censored has nothing to do with the 1st amendment (which doesn't stop companies shutting you down), and everything to do with the elite having no fear of the American population. They're the most well-armed citizenry on the planet, and did nothing about decades of mass-immigration, disastrous foreign wars, and corruption.

Also there is a good chance that a considerable amount of them are racist/sexist degenerates that would fall out of power if they did the same as NZ.

We could go the satellite route. A spaceX launch would be feasible if we pooled our resources together, like a crowd funded project essentially. A few satellites would cover the US, add in a couple more for oceania and EU and suddenly we have a global network we could utilize for our own internet.

We would make it like the dark-web, no DNS, all IP address only. Perhaps we have our own custom directory, maybe not. It's invite only, no normies, 100% free speech, no one can stop us. We could even pick a few 'sites' which we allow access to for normies or people wanting super secure, non ISP prying access to the internet. We charge a bucketload for it and use the proceeds to fund our infrastructure.

We can do it anons! Who's with me?

Youtube, Facebook video, Farmville, Snapchat, Insta stories, a little bit of steam and CS:GO. Private discord chat on how to overthrow the west and institue Sharia law across the globe. You know, the normal stuff.

I'll be the supervising director, incharge of the overall project. Be sure to report to me at the start and the end of the day.

Not drunk enough to larp right now sorry

Also the spying and backdoors of the NSA, PRISM, etc.

>and also being jailed for having an opinion.
I envy your freedoms, user. Even if your governemnt is chipping away at them as steadily as the rest of the western world. I'll admit that pesky constitution gets in the way sometimes, but if anything it has only made them more subtle.

Kek, this. Why do you need to get your countries ISP providers to log everything your citzens do when the NSA already has the best surveilence systems and programs logging shit your ISP can't even think of, plus the sophisticated AI alogorithms to analyse it and present you wtih a dossier on every US national and alien in existance.

Sure, sounds good!
I'll just invest in some copper and we'll have a working connection in no time!
Where do you live?

I would like to use the internet to post a few kb of text at least. If free internet can't manage that then I'll take the botnet.

Just saying, if some Jihadist wants to hijack a plane and fly into that NSA datacenter I might be willing to turn a blind eye to it... just saying.

You are confused. This is OUR internet. This is a place built by us. The problems you outlined only affect the normies, less skilled, insufferable knuckle-dragging newbies.

>free opensource p2p

Its already all of that.

>well organized managed by volunteers free of social media allowing spread of knowledge

The beauty of the internet it was built to be fault tolerant. Trying to organize the internet on a global scale is like herding cats, its nearly impossible. Doing so would have much harsher outcome than you've thought through.

Just because (you) use the internet for social media doesn't me everyone else does. I'd wager to say that small fraction of the internet is used for social media when you take into account all the business and messaging that goes on in the back-end. As far as distributing knowledge there is literally nothing stopping you from doing this, but from your post it seems like you've done very little research into this half-cooked idea of yours.

Remember users are losers.

I2P

Works fine on my continent. Not sorry that you live in a shithole.
Also never forget: You did this to you.

>losers
you mean lusers

Maybe not even a Jihadist, user.

>fix the internet problem
>root cause analysis determines the internet is not the problem
>still trying to fix a non technological problem with technology

Your Internet may be less censored and less visibly censored, but American society still has issues though these aren't specific to America.

That's not how the 1st Amendment works. Take a fucking history class some time Jesus Christ.

We do not have any particular protections against internet censorship in the US any more than any other country does. Our internet is only a bit more free because society here values freedom more and the people that provide services on the internet realize that.

Keep in mind the internet, in of itself, is not censored, but there are specific companies that do censor users on their platforms. See: twitter/google/facebook/cloudflare kicking off extremist right-wingers off their platforms.

Not that I mind Infowars being kicked off the internet, but the lefties will surely be butt-hurt when that pendulum inevitably swings the other way around.

What people deem offensive is subjective and is a very steep hill.

The first amendment exists because of the second. Laws are useless without hard power to back them up. The reason why the rest of the West is being censored and crushed under the boots of their neo-liberal governments is because they surrendered their firearms. And in doing so they've given up all of their power. The US is different. Things are close to boiling over right now. One wrong step could mean tens of millions of angry, working class people abandoning their jobs and ripping shit apart.

I remember New Orleans after Katrina where this guy shot like 30 looters. That's the future we're heading towards.

Attached: 1530853677995.gif (112x112, 20K)

Our government is strong enough to maintain order even if people collectively chimped out. They would simply escalate the amount of military force they'd use on civilians if we got progressively more violent. Don't think for one minute the citizens would prevail in an uprising. We'd be slaughtered.

satellite seems like the best workaround
2 expensive though

incorrect

>I Have No Idea How The Internet Actually Werks

Best case scenario would be a Cuba type setup before some corporate or government shadow entity comes in and monkeywrenches the thing.

Just because you refuse to accept that reality that doesn't make it any less real.

>He also believes the first or second amendment do jack shit to protect his internet freedums
Yeah checks out.

How many average military Joes do you know that would willingly fire on American citizens on American soil?
It's the Feds you'd have to worry about.

>How many average military Joes do you know that would willingly fire on American citizens on American soil?
CORRECT

You can manipulate them into doing it. The easiest way is money but the government can also pursue a divide and conquer strategy where they turn people against each other. Easiest would be over political grounds but race and religion is pretty easy too.

>I remember New Orleans after Katrina where this guy shot like 30 looters
Wasn't that the american sniper? I think Bradley Cooper was his name. He was a 40 year old boomer jar-head who got fat being a sniper becaues he didn't do any real work. Then some meth addict shot him in the head or something. I don't remember the whole documentary I watched. It was boring.

We all have some neetbux laying around. I bet we could crowd source it. Plus, we could make it work like dividends when we commercialise a part of the network.

Then it would become a conflict between the Feds and the Military. There's little doubt as to who would succeed.

You're a moron, and you don't know shit about the military or its culture and values.

>How many average military Joes do you know that would willingly fire on American citizens on American soil?
The recent batch has been trained for two decades to do the same on foreign soil and are getting ready to do it on US soil. The police who are at this point paramilitary already do it all the time.

oh, already turning against the public you "defend?" You're such a sucker. You'd mow down people like me no problem if you were ever given the order.

I guess my freedom of speech only extends up to the point I hurt your feefees.

stop use computer, retard.

See The police are completely different in pretty much all aspects.
What the fuck are you talking about?

why are you gay

>What are drones
>What is AI
>What is the Stanford prison experiment
And so on and so forth.
Most people wouldn't dare to ask questions civilians or not, and the few that do either get shot for treason or court martialed.

see ham radio has been cucked out of all usefulness by the FCC, so it's a non-starter unless being an outlaw isn't a concern for you and your networked anons

Also exceedingly easy to pin point. If the govt had any interest in shutting it down you'd get vanned faster than you can say fuck.

>ham radio has been cucked out of all usefulness
This is based on your judgement of the usefulness of ham radio. I think it is generally useful.

And here I thought *I* was paranoid...

We'll see how much your culture and values are worth when you're given the order. Remember to prepare your "it's not my fault I was just following orders" speech for the tribunal.

What's the actual legislation / ruling?

If the transmission is unencrypted, but contains encrypted data is it still considered as such?

I'll have to dig out that blog of a person who does analysis of military radio including direction finding. The government/military are still subject to the same laws of physics. The academic research they do must kept secret to protect it's utility until it becomes not so advantageous nay more. By which time they've probably developed something else.

I am not paranoid. A cynic? Maybe, but not paranoid. Seriously look up the Stanford prison experiment. Look up any actual research related to it. Although I generally hate it the term sheep is correct in this specific context. Most people blindly follow orders without questioning, herd mentality is very real in humans no matter how intelligent they think they are. Don't think civilians make a difference, don't think country makes a difference. It's all about the way we as a species and as a society perceive authority.

- ragchewing with boomers
- larping emcomm
did I miss anything

Right, because I'm sure our volunteer military forces comprised mostly of your average lower to middle class patriots would see the rest of us the same as conscripted madmen in the 60's saw Vietnamese villagers...

>i56578-swl.blogspot.com/2018/12/9mr-malaysian-navy-uncommon-fsk-shift.html

When or if the internet goes down their skill set is going to be highly useful.

youtube can be relaced. use irc instead of discord. Steam, farmville are memes and are not needed. snapchat and facebook can be replaced. CS:go servers can work but you need to set it up on the new internet.

Literally the entire human history is screaming in your face that you are wrong and you just keep going. People like you are literally the kind of people that lived right next to Dachau and later claimed they didn't know it was a death camp. The same kind of people that were "just following orders" in Warsaw.

All it takes is a bit of time in the echo chamber to get millions to believe in white genocide and an invasion of their shit suburb by brown people mowing your lawn is sharia law. You'll be the first to either look away and play retarded or join in the wholesale slaughter of your fellow citizens.

>use ssl and the fcc has you by the balls in no time
Any actual cases where the FCC took 'no time'?

Let's assume I am extremely rich(I'm not), and I also want to create a free open source internet for the people.
How could I do this, while making sure that I don't have any of the power?

Florida dude running a jammer in their car to kick people off their cell phones while driving

you sound like you have a delusion of grandeur
please go outside and speak to strangers
you mean like placing backdoors ?

Not at all. You need infrastructure on a scale that no private citizen no matter how rich could provide or maintain for long.

Spend the money fighting the legal and political system to protect people.

There is no such thing as a benevolent rich person. Stop the delusional thinking.

>comparing the entirety of brutal human history to our modern technological baby crib
Ok.

*dies in a school shooting*
Psssht. Nothing peurozonal kiddo.

It's doesn't matter if he's a HAM or not he's disrupting the frequencies outside the HAM bands. Experiment: use encryption on HAM bands and then see how long it takes other HAMs to find you or the FCC to come knocking on your door. FCC only reacted quickly, probably, because it was the cell network I don't think they would be as quick if it were the HAM band.

All the tech now allows you to distance yourself from the killing you do. You don't even need to be in the same hemisphere to slaughter an entire village or town. It's only made things worse since there's no danger to you for your killing.
