8GB or less memory can be limiting when using web apps and productivity applications simultaneously, especially if you're using integrated Intel/Radeon graphics that use your RAM. 16GB is definitely the sweet spot for price and utility.

I have 32GiB of RAM. Not even the highest-end vanilla game demands even a fraction of that, much less typical computing tasks, but it's great for when I want to play a game with literally hundreds of mods loaded.

Never painted anything that high-res before, I start all my projects out at 4800x4800. What kind of art do you do that needs to be 8k? I mean not that there's anything wrong with just painting in 8k just because you feel like it, if your computer can take it. Just curious.

I had 24GB Triple-channel for a while and now I'm down to 16GB Dual-channel, it actually matters if you do shit, some games will crash if there's not enough memory available which is easy with Chromium with 50+tabs open and a VM.

Add that to the fact that if you are a video editor, work in 3D and lastly want to multitask with a lot of programs open you will need 16gb-32gb of ram.

Normal painting. You do a high res and downsample for publishing, usually by factor of 4-6, to hide the broad or sloppy strokes.
