yes I did. some things I already did:
a. added VIDEO_CARDS="nouveau" to my make.conf
b. check if the user is on the video group, and the video group with getfacl /dev/dri/card0 | grep video
c. already installed sys-firmware/nvidia-firmware as asked by >freedesktop because my card needs it
d. opengl is selected correctly
the thing is I use the same box with ubuntu and it just fucking works. I already tried to use proprietary nvidia drivers, but had no success with opengl as well. I can't imagine what's wrong

No one would put up with this autistic learning curve if they didn't genuinely like it. If they just wanted online cred, they would just use Arch. Easy as fuck to install but just CLI enough to make the windows normies think you're cool.
