I'm the dude with this Thinkpad advanced dock
What gpu should i cram into this thing?
>pcie x16 slot running at x1

second from right, but it's quick to pick up any pieces of lint especially if you use a cloth to wipe down your keyboard

I need to buy a 4-cell battery for my x230.
It has the controller flashed so it can take any fake or legit battery.
Where can I find a good 4-cell?

I have stolen a hp elitebook, fairly modern one as well.
What the fuck were they thinking removing the middle button from the upper row of the touchpad. Makes the whole laptop unusable desu.

Just click both at the same time, it works like a middle button at least on linux.

Tried it. Manjaro+deepin. Didn't work. For some reason it doesn't even have tracknipple sensitivity settings neither which my latitudes have. I can't be bothered to try to fix it, just gonna sell it instead, which is a shame bc it has a nice keyboard.

Maybe using a PCIe extender would let you use a bigger GPU.

Where is the recommended wifi card pasta copied from? Also any of you actually has experience from intel 8260? some >reddit post said it has poor range compared to intel 7260. What about the mediatek MT76 one? what does "its dangerous to crack wifi alone, use this!" mean in that context? So is Intel's card much more proprietary than mediatek's card?

Link to keyboard pls (name?). Brainlet here.

What is the name of this type of dome?
I need to buy a few new ones, can't find on ebay

I wonder if these would just go on the x220 or x230 keyboard?

The T450's graphics card is onboard or offboard?
Is it possible to replace the GPU if the graphics card get burnt?
I'm not tech savvy so no bullying allowed.
But, someone I know said that I shouldnt buy a notebook with an onboard graphics card cause if it burn I'll have to replace the motherboard and the graphics card.

I want a portable one. X1 tablet good enough? Or x1c is the better bet? Also best used place to buy in Canada? eBay seems to competitive to get anything decent .

Does it have a slot for GPU just in case the graphics card stop working?

Soft rim. No doubt.

No Lenovo laptop uses MXM ports, you'll probably want a Dell laptop for that.

But I have to worry about the processor stopped working?

cpu failure is extremely unlikely, there's no reason to worry about it

Intel CPUs since 5th generation come only in BGA format factor, so you'd have to reball it on any lapotp. These parts rarely fail, so it shouldn't be an issue.

what would be small enough laptop cooler for x230 so I could browse Jow Forums on bed

Just google 12" laptop cooler

Got a replacement mainboard for my X230 today

>new cooler doesn't buzz anymore
Would've been pure bliss if I hadn't bought a x260 already

is x250 fine?

Yes

no I regret getting mine, get an x230

T420 & X130e

what was happened?

picked up a t440s from asset remarket at my work the other day. Dropped in an SSD I had hanging around and bought a new battery for it. I'm really enjoying it. The keyboard doesn't ruin my experience as I thought it might, and it came with the internal battery in it and functional.

However this trackpad is SO gay. Why did they think it was a good idea to do it this way? It tracks so poorly and gestures feel so janky. I'm strongly considering getting a replacement for it. Should I? Or will I get used to this weird Wii Fit balance board trackpad?

Who even uses the trackpad?

Not if there's an X230 for sale ever

Is the X131e a decent shitposting machine? Just need something cheap to use for web browsing.

the cpus in these things are so bad that it's painful to use even as a shitposting machine

Gotta be better than pic related

Attached: T30.jpg (918x1632, 234K)

Is the X1 Carbon (3rd Gen) any good? I can get one on the cheap. 1440p screen, too.

Yeah, those are great machines.

I'm new to thinkpads and I'm learning to get used to the clit mouse.

you have no idea how bad it is amd is "faster" only because it has 2 cores the single core performance is actually better on T30

Attached: Capture.png (896x458, 25K)

The one I am looking at has the AMD E2-1800 and 4GB of ram.

plis gief info

classic dome

enable middle mouse button emulation, it can be set in Xorg settings independent of DE, that will let you middle click with left+right

soft dome

It's also called cat's tongue.
Lenovo stopped making them desu

Attached: 1531502960182.png (400x550, 102K)

It's probably only marginally faster, I mean go ahead if you really want to but don't say nobody warned you.

Ha ha, you are gravely mistaken

Thanks, I'll look around at some other options.

I just bought these softrims, they fit my X230 (normal keyboard).

I'm smart.

Hello, I need a new computer. I think a thinkpad might serve my needs well. Should I buy from amazon or is there a different preferable vendor?

newegg
They have a great sort function, and a large number of refurbished units for a great price.

Yo guys, I own a T420 and a shitty T400s but those are too big and I want a replacement for my Surface Pro 2 - something which is small, portable, has an IPS screen and has a good stylus/touchscreen so I can draw shit. I am currently looking at used X1 (better screen) carbon and X220Ts.

well, I got 2 simply questions
-is a t440p worth 200 bucks
-does it have the pwm flickering?

super proud of myself, lads. Over the weekend I successfully installed Linux (Ubuntu) on my new T440s all by myself, and moved over all my memes and porn. Never thought I'd ever be able to do something like this, in a thousand years.

Attached: 1524423708723.png (1000x1000, 77K)

That's amazing y'all!
Please share some of your memes ;)

Congrats dude!

Is it safe to go for 'compatible' listings on T530 FHD panels? Genuine AUO ones are rare and expensive

Or is there another decent panel to drop in?

fellas, i bought a t410, but it didn't come with a battery. so i just picked up the cheapest least chinese one i saw on ebay.
regardless, it's all here, but the laptop will not charge the battery? what do?
am i mc fucked?

Attached: Capture.png (484x552, 49K)

Yes, I like it over my x201 and x230 for daily tasks

>easily upgraded to 1080p IPS
>insane battery life with the nu-slice battery

might be /sqt/ related but it's on a thinkpad.
bought a ips panel for my x220, it arrived and i put it in today, it really looks great but at the top is a small string slightly but noticeable brighter than the rest, it doesn't annoy me that much but i would like to know where i fucked up or if it is the panel

What are your feelings on Thinkstack

Attached: 20190324_164301.jpg (3369x2527, 3.86M)

Install tp_smapi and tlp and do '# tlp fullcharge'.
If you're on windows then download drivers from lenovo's site and hope they fix it.

-sure
-probably

>What are your feelings on Thinkstack
love my thinkstack, if i break a thinkpad my thinkstack helps me repairing it

>What are your feelings on Thinkstack
jealousy

we should try out how many thinkpads we can stack before the bottom one breaks unser the weight

Will thinkpads with ryzen 3000 mobile chips be worth it or no? Hows the x1 carbon extreme vs p52 with 8750h?

right now ryzen mobile cpus have 1 main advantage and 2 main problems, advantage is that the igpu is better but intel thinkpads can come with nvidia graphics which can match it and the main downside is much worse battery life under idle and much worse driver support, there's no information yet if the 3rd gen of ryzen mobile will have same set of problems
regarding 8750h it is very fast for laptop standards, not sure what else is there to say

hard mode start with 600x

Not sure about thinkpads, but I know some of the older HP Probooks were rated to hold 300lb closed.

a t420 would be pretty tough as a base, wouldn't it? Magnesium roll cage would be pretty tough, I'd imagine.

T60/T61 would be stronger I'd reckon as the screen also had the rollcage.

Attached: t61_14wrollcage_01_440.jpg (440x405, 41K)

The CPU might not be faster in single-thread, but 2 cores make a difference, and hardware video decoder makes even more difference for youtube and such.

thanks user. as far as i can tell it's helping!

What ram should I get for my t530?

cl9 pc3l-12800 ddr3l-1600

Ok I'm tryin to install XP on a T410s. I have slipstreamed the SATA drivers onto a clean XP disk with SP3 and I have also switched the option in the BIOS for compatible. I keep getting this damn error message (pic related), Any ideas?

x201 cutest thinkpad

Not really helpful but it might be good to use one of those pozzed xp bundle iso things. I had one called xp black edition it just werked. Probably comes riddled with malware tho kek

w2c adventure time bedsheets?
also very cute desu

I was in some hipster “espresso bar” in Brooklyn today. Half of them were using Thinkpads.

yes, reddit infiltrated this site a year or so ago

Attached: 1550649476174.jpg (680x578, 37K)

Probably does but this machine is for offline purposes only so I’m ok with he malware if it comes with. I have downloaded another set of sata drivers from Lenovo and will try again.

bruhs check out the new gimped t490s, no ram slot, the cooler was downgraded to single heatpipe, the battery was made slightly smaller and for what? to shed like 50 grams off the total weight and call it an improvement? what a fuckin joke

>right side exhaust port
What did he mean by this?

Sleep tight X201.

This goes a bit beyond Thinkpads, but which of these would you recommend\get for yourselves?

Some of these Thinkpads are pretty clunky-looking. I also like the idea of being able to use a pen as with the Yoga.

Any suggestions\comments?

Looks like my old old asus p50ij. What’s the point of the price tag of the thinkpad now if you get consumer grade?

t480s was the same personally I think right side is superior but that's down to preference I guess, but just look at how much more shit they could put in the t480s, I forgot to mention t490s also does not come with optional nvidia graphics
I don't know, the 8th gen made some questionable decisions but there were still few good thinkpads like T480/s, P52 and few others, the 9th gen just looks like pure garbage all around

My mum got it for me a few years ago may have been from argos or tesco. Not certain though
Very cute, are they married :3
