we had this thread yesterday. It's going to fail catastrophically because it only has a shitty mobile chip capable of rendering at Minecraft-tier fidelity.

Didn't stop the oculus go from being successful and that had one controller without 6DoF tracking

denial

OP posted gameplay and that looks perfectly fine

Nobody likes wires
Oculus Go outsold the vive 10:1 last year so your point is void

every preview can‘t stop praising the quest, while everyone is disappointed in the Rift S

people are in denial that their 600$ headset is being replaced by a mobile device

The Go can also run ALVR and Riftcat extremely well and can be used as a wireless PC headset, so I'm expecting something decent out of this.

>judging VR quality with a flat video

Thats all you have to judge though since we know what screen it has. Lighting and textures look as expected for mobile hardware, but thats fine by me.

Because those games have been optimised the shit out of. Any regular game that hasn't been touched by Carmack will simply overload that shitty little chip.

>implying sales is a good measurement of success

two questions:
1) can I use it offline? aka unpack it and never connect it to any jewbook service

2) can I download porn into it?

>financial success isn't success
alright commie
You need to use your phone to set it up initially afaik
and yes it does have a video app

VR is an idiotic meme aimed at wasting more of your lifetime without any gain unless you're a developer who earns money by ruining more youngsters lifes.
There are some good applications for surgery, engineering, architecture etc, but the Oculus Quest is not made for them, it's just made for frying your brain even further.

why the fuck would I need a phone to set up a standalone device

>additional castrated computer
>When you already have one
Yeah, I'll pass.

Wtf is with these options

>Oculus S is decently priced and has decent tracking but shit res
>Next Lenovo hmd has nice res but sticks you with shitty wmr inside out that loses tracking off camera

Why wouldn't Oculus just release an s+ for 600 with nicer screens? There's still nothing which has all the stuff I've been waiting for

>decent tracking
>can't put your hands too far behind you
>literally no way around this because Oculus ditched external sensors
They stopped selling the first-gen Rift now. Your options are basically to buy a $600 Vive or some chink WMR headset. VR is on its last fucking legs, I swear.

The Rift S screen is not nearly as bad as people pretend.
It‘s more complex than just OLED > LCD becuz muh deeper blacks. LCD has more subpixels and thus less screendoor effect even at a lower resolution than the Quest or Vive pro, which use OLED (Rift S uses the Go screen at a higher refresh rate )

>80hz rift s
That's a yikes from me

bamp

VR is a meme gimmick fad that is already over.

how are you in every thread?

i think you're confusing me for someone else but that's just a meme everyone is repeating now so resources will stop being wasted for VR.

Can't say I'm interested. I don't need a headset with a shitty phone stuck inside, I already have a computer which can run games. Plus I can't imagine this having amazing battery life (and it will wear down in a few years), if you want to play for a long time that shit will run dry on you and stop you from using it. It's not going to be user-replaceable either, of course, so you can't pop in a charged battery and continue using it, neither can you easily replace it once it's dead.

The limited tracking volume also does not look appealing, though will probably work fine for most games. Anyway, this isn't a product for me in any way.

Maybe Valve will save us. I fucking hope so.

Given it's taken 3 years for the Knuckles controllers (and they're not even available yet), I wouldn't give your hopes up. The only company doing any innovation right now is Oculus. If the Quest succeeds, they'll just continue making shitty mobile headsets. If the Quest fails, they'll likely withdraw from the VR business. Hence why I think VR is dead at this stage unless one of the enterprise VR companies like Varjo enters the frey.

Oculus is largely worthless at this point as far as I'm concerned. I'm not interested in their mobile crap and they don't seem to be interested in what I want, despite the fact that I have a Rift CV1.

Let it play PC games and I won't care. I dont even own a PC headset you faggot I just dont want little shitty ass mobile games that have 4 good titles.

It's not like Rift S is much better than a good WMR headset. It has extra cameras for tracking, but is otherwise worse. I'd rather buy a HP reverb for those 2160x2160 screens than a low-res, 80Hz Rift S. That's in theory at least, in practice I won't buy either of them because they don't have IPD adjustment, so I'm going to keep using my Rift until I see what Valve do, what's going on with Lighthouse 2.0, Knuckles and also Pimax (since very wide FoV sounds very attractive).
