Whenever i watch this show and they start talking about technical stuff i always get the feeling that i don't really know anything about development.

Is it really that complex or half the things they say are made up?

I'm a web dev in my first job btw

its definitely cherry-picked from the twitter echo chamber that most infertile manlets ingest

they did a pretty good job with it though

It's a tv show so it's not necessarily real but I would say it's pretty realistic. I never recall hearing them say something that made me cringe or completely call back outside of middle out but that's the main plot of the show so I give it a pass

protip: tv is made up

kek what?
50% of the stuff in the show is not real and is just for laughs, the other 50% is basic shit

it's a fictional series, most stuff they talk is nonsese. It's like being a real criminal investigator and feeling stupid while watching CSI.

except a real criminal investigator would know that it's. I'm more of an NCIS kinda guy btw

While I understand most of it, this show doesn't cater to lower engineers and will only make bants about surface level web-dev shit

Mostly because people that actually are into technology don't watch trash like this

middle-out is fake but the rest is just pretty much standard stuff

>that tabs vs. spaces episode where the character that prefers spaces ACTUALLY HITS THE SPACE BAR 4 TIMES

There's a lot of decently accurate stuff in this show, and the characters are very well written. The billionaire guy? I met a guy exactly like him. The balding CEO that doesn't understand the company direction? Yup. Indian guy that is decently smart? I work with him.

well. using spaces is fucking retarded.
i thought it was pretty accurate

Are you a retard? Tabs vs. spaces has nothing to do with what key you press.

Yeah, the people are fucking perfect. I thought Gavin Belson's quote about rich people being treated like the jews in nazi germany was too over-the-top, but apparently that was a real quote from some actual billionaire.
And the things that happen to their company probably wouldn't all happen to one company, but it's definitely shit that happens.

Space bar four times and delete key actually deleting files on the porn server were pretty dumb and apparently they don't have version control, but overall the tech stuff is inoffensive.

what ever you say sweety.
Go finish your python homework and let the adults talk

The algorithm which the entire show is based around is mathematicly impossible. You cant have a algorithm which can compress everything.

Well no shit, it's a TV show. They're not gonna actually discover a revolutionary new compression algorithm.

Call the Nobel prize committee and Mensa!
We have a fucking genius over here!

Most of the actual programming is pretty accurate - or at least as accurate as I'd ever expect a TV show to be.

its supposed to be funny, not factually accurate autist

Except it isn't most everything they talk about besides middle out is real. And is being referred to correctly. Or atleast in a scenario that absurd is possible. You not getting that means you probably don't know shit about IT or Dev.

Because the TV show is about corporate politics, not programming.
