It was the muslim shooting video wasn't it...

Was expecting for them to shut down months ago not gonna lie. So time to move on then. Honestly what a shame.

i dont care about the web anymore, shut it down
it was a fad after all

I wasn't expecting them to last a year when they showed up. File hosting with direct links is just too exploitable. It was a good run with no fuck-ups to speak of, so thanks.

Build the next one on Dat/IPFS/WebTorrent.

it became fucking annoying
every fucking fool's an expert nowadays, fuck the web to death

Honestly the biggest problem was probably moderation. Server costs are a problem sure, but I don't believe them for a second that server costs were as big a problem as moderation and especially legal risks and eventual costs when illegal shit gets uploaded on your website. In their shoes I'd probably also would shut the service down before I get sued to hell and back or just thrown in jail. Still sad non the less.

What is this site?

A cool thing you've only learned about because it's shutting down.

I used to run a file upload service, too, and yeah, unless you're a massive corporation that can employee hundreds of people with 24/7 moderation, you'll always fail.

Primarily, it's because people can't fucking stop uploading CP. Holy fucking christ, you fucking pedos, you ruin everything.

>Cool thing
It seems popular here, so I kinda doubt it.

It wouldn't be an issue if file hosts did have to be afraid of the repercussions of briefly and unintentionally hosting CP.

Pictured: you.

(((they))) are really going all out

Attached: BRJCWCCHAAI6TFFL2LO2HQG7KI.jpg (960x720, 124K)

From the way the note is phrased, it seems more about malware than CP.

Drybones refuses to give a list of files to the ArchiveTeam guys as well. What a faggot.

The web is going to be riddled with dead links in a week.

>Drybones refuses to give a list of files to the ArchiveTeam guys as well.
Why?

The way it's phrased it might be either or both. But I doubt they'd shut down over simple malware. It's more than likely CP.

probably GDPR more than the goatfuckers

That is the worst bait of the century user.

It's half a miracle they lasted as long as they did, bandwidth and storage must have cost a fortune at their scale. Who bankrolled them?

30 terabytes is nothing

They do seem to have some very powerful servers to be able to serve 800TB per month.

Storing 30TB on S3 will run you about $700/month or so, which is pretty crazy for an individual to bankroll (unless the guy who runs sapphire is rich or something). 800TB/month would be an additionall $700/month

>800TB/month would be an additionall $700/month
No.

Attached: b2 calc.png (971x841, 65K)

According to their own site their monthly server cost for their main storage server is $100. Which is much more realistic. I don't get why people use AWS instead of running their own servers for literally 1/80th the price of AWS.

My mistake, I screwed up on the price calculator. Honestly, I really don't know how the whole thing lasted this long. Damn thing was basically a money sinkhole.

>800 terrabyte a month
I seed more than that

any reason why the smaller company offers the cheaper pricing?

>sapphire
>team
should i start to refer to myself as we?

Attached: 1526181270266.png (1099x654, 55K)

Worse service.

no isp would allow that

Are you sure you don't see more than 800 GIGAbytes for month? 800 TERRAbytes is over 1 TB per hour, which would require an industrial-strength 10 gbps pipe.

Literally works on my continent.

They compete for the small fry, the price-sensitive clients who would otherwise run minio on their own box. Amazon, Azure and Google do not care about those.

Did you tend to report any CP found to authorities?
I feel like a random sampling of uploaded files with threat of direct cooperation with the police might deter a lot of the uploaders.

What should I use once it's gone? Catbox?

Doesn't Microsoft have an API that detects CP? Here, I have found it.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhotoDNA

They probably alresdy have the know how to maintain a server with high uptime and high bandwidth, which is the majority of what you pay for on hosting platforms.

Based

Wait.
How did they train the AI?
Why hasn't the fbi raided Microsoft AI development

based on what?

Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi.

you can train two models: one model on children, and one model on ordinary pornography
guess what happens when you create an ensemble model using these two models

Yup.
Now void.cat/ is my new best friend.

it should auto redirect to https

Request an invite to chunk.io/.

or use teknik.io

Or you could rent like 20 hetzner boxes for less. A few frontends with nvme as cache and the rest spinning rust for storage.

Which is fucking easy if you don't add a shitload of complexity with container shit and don't need 3 nines.

I think the issue is more on network infrastructure than the configuration of the servers themselves. Takes a lot of money to serve at the speeds that they do in a reliable and resilient fashion.

>800 TB per month
>2.5Gbit/s on average
That is not a lot for any decently sized hoster.

>buy two or more servers in different data centres
>have redundancy for a fraction of the cost
Cloud computing and AWS is for ITlets or companies that like to lose tons of money.
Most dedicated hosters offer 10GBit redundant fiber anyways and if you rent a colo you get even more. Network infrastructure is not the problem.

sad but I understand why drybones did this. The french police are so fucking annoying.

Honestly anything handling "terabytes of data" needs a serious income to work. It's actually pretty surprising, even before you sink so much labour and resourcing into moderating abuse, that they were able to distribute that much data in an ad-free way.
imgur was the poster child of this situation. Built in the first place to rebel against the ad plagued alternatives, only to have to become one to stay afloat.

That's why you host a website like that in a non-botnet country that doesn't care about mass shootings videos on the internet

GOD DAMMIT FUCKING NIGGER BOOTLICKERS RUIN EVERYTHING

>Isis slaughter vids
>k
>Mexican cartel vids
>k
>whitey shooting muslims
>NO

I seed more than that through VPNs with my shitty French ISP and they obviously don't care, I've been doing it for over a year now.

You as a person can still get in shit for it even if it stands in North Korea. Which was probably the deciding factor in shutting down.

You ever wonder why they didn't consider making this a honeypot to trap those that blatantly abuse the rules?
Surely someone on their team could have thought "hey if pedos are uploading this shit, why not let the government track em"

Surely someone somewhere had this thought?

This is what I don't get, it most have cost a ton to keep the site running if it was a side project. What was the end goal? How was it supposed to become financially solvent?

im pretty happy about it. its pretty disgusting that people still share that video and glorify someone who hurt innocent people

Primary reason to use AWS is variable workloads.

If I only need to run a server for a couple hours a week, it's cheaper to do it on AWS than pay for an equivalent VPS.

You can easily get VPS that you only pay for the hours you used it tho? And those are much cheaper than AWS, at leas they were the last time I checked.

Kill yourself reddit faggot. Awful things are all around censoring isnt the answer.

maybe you shouldn't promote murderers.

No "unlimited hosting" plan is really unlimited. Get to 800TB of traffic and someone will have a conversation about either upgrading or talking about it as a AUP breach.

>innocent
archive.is/7sStb

Never had that happen with any of my servers.
t. 500TB/Month on average seedbox owner
Also never was a problem with the other servers I own that vary between a few GB per month to a few hundred TB.

>Isis content, Mexican cartels and more is fine
>censor this tho

Again. Kill yourself redditor. Not censoring footage isnt "promoting" murder.

>al qaida recruitment center
>innocent

what a giant fucking pussy to shut the site for this

We can talk about that when you personally are at risk to go to jail over stupid shit like that.

It's always them, the jews.

none of that is fine. maybe you shouldn't promote murderers. its really not that hard dude

this, i can't believe there are whites that defend mudslimes

>censor the entire internet my feels demand it

You fags started this with cp. You retarded bootlicking fucks are evil. Off yourself

if they're not located in NZ who gives a shit

Jow Forums spotted
fuck off

see you soon, anti-white pawn

NOOOOOOOO

> No u!
> NO - U!
Jow Forums: technology for 89 IQ.

Yes, that's right - let big daddy government and his friends the Corporations decide what you should and shouldn't be able to access online. I'm sure that won't end badly for all involved...

That and the copious amounts of CP being uploaded via VPN

NZ is also most likely not the problem anyways. But NZ (sadly) isn't the only country throwing a shitfit about the video.

France has police?

Who says they didn't offer it?

EU is currently on their way to enforce upload filters for big companies.
cant wait for google offering their content ID system to private folk. will make running a file sharing site much easier when google does all the annoying work of running a black list for you.

This is why there should be no illegal content on the internet. Cp was and always was, just the gateway.
