Rate my gaming build

This comes out to be around $1600. I mostly play Rust and CS. This is probably overkill but I still need to upgrade (still using DDR3).
Any suggestions before I pull the trigger?

no you don't
>Any suggestions before I pull the trigger?
aim to the head

>no you don't
fair enough, but I want to!

9700k is only $30 more but has 2 more REAL cores.

8 real cores is better than 6 cores and 12 threads.

Use SCDKey for a Windows 10 key, you probably don't need 32 gigs of ram, use the savings and get a better power supply.

This is the kind of info I was seeking. Thanks.

Enjoy your (((bugs)))
>Buying windows 10
Why? Are you retarded?
>Mostly play Rust and CS
You don't need a 1070 for that.

$16 for Win 10? Is this legit? And thanks.

I have been using a $10 windows 10 copy for the last 3 years without issue.

Yes, download ISO from microsoft and use the key they send you at install. I've used them on 3 or 4 builds now.

I run Debian on my other machines. This is just for gaming. Is Intel that bad? What would an AMD equivalent to an i7-9700k? And if I go AMD, should I switch from GTX to R9?

For gaming, intel is simply the best, you pay a premium for it, but you get the best gaming performance.

For professional workloads, AMD makes the most sense.

Also, pick up an NHD15 for your cooler, I'm hitting 5 ghz on air on my 8700k no problem with mine. It's only a few bucks more than the Cryorg and is probably massive overkill but runs near silent at all times.

for 1600 bucks i could get a used car

thanks anons

>9700k
This guy fucks.
9000 series were not out when I built my rig.
If there's only a $30 price delta, pull the trigger on the 9000 series. It is damn near mandatory you delid your 8700k and replace the TIM, will drop your thermals 20*C+. The cost of getting a kit and doing it right is more than $30, save yourself the headache.

I would drop 16 gigs of ram, and personally I would get 1TB of storage instead of 500 gigs. You'll use it up faster than you think

I agree, but even if you do want 32GB, you should get cheaper 32GB

also, anything over 3000mhz is basically wasted on 9th gen intel in most cases, especially gaming.

That 32GB kit with $25 off is $35 cheaper than the one OP has currently.

You know, if you chose 2700x instead, with a cheaper mobo and no need for cooler, you would be able to get a 2070 or 1080 for the same price. You'd have a better pc for gayming and for productivity

Intel is the best... If you have unlimited budget. Otherwise, you could buy a better system for gaming with Ryzen, since the money you save from the CPU, cooler and motherboard allows you to get a better graphics card

I got my Windows key for 3.75 american

I thought $200 was pretty decent for 32GB.
I can't really see myself spending $700+ on just the GPU.

any thoughts on the Asus VG248QE monitor with this?

The 2070 is $500~
A 2700x + rtx 2070 performs better than a 8700k + 1070, be it gaming or productivity and both systems cost the same to you. Don't be fooled by the price of one component but the total

Get the Noctua NH-D15 instead of the H7.
The RAM frequency is overkill. Go 3400 or 3200 and get lower latency RAM.
Spend like 10 bucks more and get the pro instead of the Evo SSD.
Depending on resolution the 1070 won't be enough to drive the rig.

1600 and only a 1070. I'm not going to look too much into your build but I'm sure you could have got better value than that

Interesting, going to look into that build now... thx
3400/3200 at lower latency is more expensive than the 3600 but I see what you're saying. gonna fiddle with that some more. will upgrade the Evo too.

Would that 2700x + rtx 2070 combo push the VG248QE 144Hz monitor?

Around $1600 with 2700x, 2070, better PSU and still keeping your other stuff such as windows 10 licence. The stock cooler is fine, but you can get a noctua cooler if you really need it

moist.. thank you, I might go with that one. gonna look into it now.

Don't buy Windows, you can literally just skip the activation step when you're installing it (download installation image from MS website and flash to drive) and then you can activate later if you want customization, etc.

ALSO: Rust and CS(GO?) both have native Linux support so you probably don't even need Windows at all.

>no mention of AMD vs intel minimum frame times.

I hope he doesn't want to do 144hz gaming.

For 144hz gaming on triple A games you need 2080/1080ti/2080ti. You could try to spend $200 extra on a 2080 and lower the cost of some other parts of your build

2700x 4.3GHz vs 9700k 4.9GHz. would i even notice the difference? also, i don't believe Rust can take advantage of the extra 2700x cores.
but i do want to 144hz.. that's another reason for the build

>2700x 4.3GHz vs 9700k 4.9GHz. would i even notice the difference?
if both have the same GPU. But since you are not a tech reviewer who gets free GPUs nor a millionaire, you will be limiting your budget that could be allocated to the gpu
>but i do want to 144hz.. that's another reason for the build
You will need to spend more and get a 2080 boi

2080 it is.. starting over

nice build. intel for the win bro

I had that case, it's absolute shit. Now I have a Fractal Design.
