Second for ruby

let's fail at working on working together

I was hoping for some advice on how to develop a bowser vr porn experience(?) for an s9. I've done a bunch of programming language tutorials and fucked around a bit with unity (C#) and minecraft (java and techne) years ago but it didn't really go anywhere. And any help on how to get a bowser voice to say specific things (a way to get custom text to speech that sounds like bowser hopefully?). A bowser model (from odyssey files maybe?) and helpful tutorials on how to modify it to make it more appealing to her (by adding a dick and being able to control the tongue to do more things). And any pre-existing things that I could more easily add bowser to, so that I don't have to learn how to do breast and clothes physics.

That sounds tiring

You have like 3-4 different projects in 1 umbrella project.
Start on one.

Accidentally replied in the dead thread, but in case anyone can offer advice from other perspectives

don't you sometimes (all the time) just wish you were dead

you don't?

Working on a terminal version of the game battleship for my class. It's going pretty fucking slow. I'm just thankful these threads are full of actually helpful people because you guys tend to be way fucking nicer and more excusing of the fact I'm a brainlet who asks stupid questions than stackexchange. The people at stackexchange tend to be giant fucking assholes.

*ahem*

You're not supposed to ask for general help on stackoverflow

"no"

what is with this dude's ego

it destroyed him

>couldn't complete it
who could have seen this coming

> And any help on how to get a bowser voice to say specific things
Hire someone to mimic the voice.

>A bowser model
You're asking for skills from a 3D artist, not a programmer. You want to build some sort of animation rig in some program like Maya then export it to unreal/unity.

Based on how you type, this project sounds so beyond you the other guy is right and just find a gf or commission someone to make some art instead.

>It is with a heart of lead that I write this announcement. Not in my darkest nightmares did I expect this day to ever come, but circumstances have reached a point that even my endless optimism can no longer rectify. I can not finish Limit Theory.
this guy is so far up his own ass

ok the text to speech thing is probably the easiest how would I go about doing that in a way that I could later have it integrated into the rest of the project?

Why is it 100% of people who work on something NEVER FUCKING RELEASE ANYTHING

Literally I've seen 10-20 projects in the past ten years I found super fucking cool and then they just throw all the work into the shitter. And it overwhelmingly was directly that person/company who held all the license to the code and assets, and they just throw it in the fucking garbage.

it's for my gf

If you are talking about Kickstarter, it's because literally anyone can put up a Kickstarter, and most projects fail period

Trying to make a VR thing so she can have her big feminine penis in-game?

I'm the one with the feminine penis

It doesn't matter the source. I've seen lots of things that were utterly broken/vaporware to nearly-complete games that get nuked because of a single bug or something. Millions or even more dollars wasted. It should be illegal to copyright something and then not distribute it.

Just so you know what you're asking for, the type of project you're asking for would take a team of multiple developers and a few artists at least a few months to make, there is zero chance you're developing this on your own with the type of questions you're asking.
Just commission some art to jerk off to instead or commission someone to make SFM shit.

>I've seen lots of things that were utterly broken/vaporware to nearly-complete games that get nuked because of a single bug
None of these things die to a single bug. They die because they people who started the projects didn't know what they were doing, they overscoped, they aimed too high and couldn't achieve what they set out to do. The technical debt grows too high in the codebase, or they run out of time and money and it's over. It's never "one bug".
And copyright applies to anything you do automatically dumbass

but he made a really cool interface

>it was the weirdest thing
>the whole month i had this feeling like, josh, you're terrible, you're the worst, you're not doing any work, it's horrible ... they should just fire you, they should just take back the kickstarter money because you're not getting anything done
>now that the month is over i realise i did a lot of work

I want to work aside uni,but every place around me wants a fuckin web dev to do shit
And those who might search others, they tend to put the bar too high
Like way too high
I'm feeling I should learn something else to get a job around here but web sucks and the other cucks want an ASP.NEET dev or c#
Fuckin windows

I'm not asking for funding so does it matter if I actually start a project after doing nothing tangible except my relationship in years. Worst case scenario I stop and go back to not doing stuff. She's already drawn really good art. I just wanted to make something interactive for her.

so you're making a VR game about Bowser cucking you?

basically yeah

>write 2 lines of code
>open up a chrome window
>browse Jow Forums

>write another 2 lines of code
>open up a chrome window

Am I the only one?

I cannot subvert my ADD enough to focus my attention on something for more than a few minutes

It makes creating computer software highly difficult

Attached: JiHMqWjsWJiguAnYL0vdwF090QBtNvsGqD8gbQ-IDog.jpg (432x403, 19K)

yes, except I don't get to write any code at all

Can you do something like this in java?
Int y=11
Boolean a = 5>4

5>4

I don't see why not

there are two things that chew ass when doing webshit: frontend and a legacy backend.
everything else is fine and even better compared to shit jobs like embedded and desktop programs.

botondballo.wordpress.com/2019/03/20/trip-report-c-standards-meeting-in-kona-february-2019/
good news for cripples

old news

o-ok

Attached: 1549283805645.jpg (900x900, 69K)

>shit jobs like embedded and desktop programs.
not having to use a trillion frameworks and libraries to get anything done is heaven compared to webshit

>frontend and a legacy backend.
then what the hell else is left? From what I've seen there are more fullstack jobs than your typical backend jobs that are made in something relatively modern

Does anyone have any resources on how to model entity relationships?
I only have some vague idea of what should be one-to-many one-to-one of what but I don't know if they all should be bidirectional (i.e. both entities know about themselves respectively). Any good practices? Can't find anything on google.

what's an entity, and what kind of relationships do they have?

by me

I started learning C# because I want to make games, and Unity sounded like a great choice at the time, but it looks like C#'s popularity has been steadily declining for some time now. Does that matter? People say not to ditch a language for another when you're just starting out, but I'm not convinced that it'd be a bad idea to do just that. It's not just that. I don't like how C# is a Microsoft product, and I almost resent the fact that it's a higher-level language. It makes me feel like I'm not even really a programmer. What do you think, /dpt/?

Attached: 1553127501864.png (286x356, 108K)

you're an entity, and I'm an entity. And our relationship is... I'm your girlfriend!

get over your microphobia. c# is a great language.

Unity and C# aren't going anywhere
C# isn't used many places outside of Unity, but Unity is huge
if you want to go lower level you can use C++, but that's not strictly an improvement

>buy me
how much?

Attached: 1553161387373.gif (540x306, 550K)

What about memory management? Won't I be missing out by using a language with garbage collection? I hear that memory management is an important part of other languages, and I feel like my skill set isn't being sufficiently developed by using a language that does it for me.

Unity is a botnet that collects data from its users (even people playing the games developers make using it). Stop using it and use something like Godot.

memory management isn't actually hard, it's more tedious than anything else
your skill depends more on what you're doing than what language you're doing it with

>somehow got my first job maintaining/upgrading a web system
>asked to make a program that gets data from some clinical equipment and generates a csv/excel file
>this_is_not_web_stuff.png!
>keep procrastinating for one month
>got the basic code done today
The sense of fulfillment I am feeling may be fleeting but I will enjoy it just for today.
I still don't know what the hell I am doing though.

Based kittyposter. Want a treat?

Attached: 1559737-center-1[1].jpg (1500x1500, 304K)

Have worked for 16 hours without breaks. Gonna sleep rn

sleep tight wageslave

it's not completely magic, you still need to know about the garbage collector to use it well. there's an API for configuring it too.

popularity is not a valid measurement at all. why should a cs undergrad googling python or js homework have any effect on your choice of language and framework? are you going to use webgl because js is popular?
Considering your goal is making games, C# is one of top 3 if not the best options because it supports many games engines and has many learning resources plus a decent syntax.
It is the go-to for indie devs and studios. So, if you are not planning on making triple A games, it should be fine.
>resent the fact that it's a higher-level language
This might be valid for other programming languages like kotlin but not C# which has enough 'low level' constructs like span, pointers, good FFI..etc
>It makes me feel like I'm not even really a programmer.
what is a 'real' programmer?
one that makes heavy use of pointers and writes l33t metaprogramming code on daily bases?
You need to get job and share some code to get over the insecurity of having everything useful right before you so that you can actually focus on getting things done instead of cussing at perfectly-valid-yet-not-working code you've written for your new game engine.

>When i work on something that motivates me i accidentally spend the whole day working on it without realizing it
>Problem is nothing motivates me anymore

Attached: 1553359306191.png (576x814, 799K)

I'm very motivated on what I'm working on

It's not required of me for my job
It's a new technology I want to learn
I'm confident that it'll look good on a resume
I enjoy every second of it

Despite that, I constantly have to wrestle myself into not dicking around and focusing on the task at hand.

Please help. Any boy

Attached: 2e6.jpg_large.jpg (822x1024, 91K)

What a stupid argument

Attached: screenshot.png (720x197, 35K)

>I enjoy every second of it
>Despite that, I constantly have to wrestle myself into not dicking around and focusing on the task at hand.
that doesn't add up

but it does ADD up huyk huyk

eat more cholesterol

The argument for it is that it makes it explicit when you're actually dereferencing a pointer which is significant, but vastly overshadowed by it being nice to have a language that isn't being a pedantic asshole

It doesn't add up in the mind of someone whose part of the brain responsible for processing someone's attention span and dopamine levels isn't completely borked.

I think the internet has ruined me.
I have a hard time completing this post without momentarily going off to some other corner of the internet because it isn't stimulating my brain at maximum capacity for a span of 30 seconds.

change your diet
consume less sugar

>I think the internet has ruined me.
I sit on the internet all day while programming and it doesn't distract me at all

>tfw more interested in working on random hobby projects than my bachelor's thesis

your random hobby projects will probably be more useful both for learning and getting a job

What do you mean?

You come and go for consistent periods of time without constantly modulating between the two?

I do some programming, then stop to think for a bit and browse the internet

What if Internet would never be invented? Would we live in happy world rn?

hacks.mozilla.org/2019/03/standardizing-wasi-a-webassembly-system-interface/
Aren't they basically reinventing JVM? I mean, I like the idea of wasm in the browser, but this is too much.

Attached: 04-02-portability-1.png (2796x2706, 107K)

I recently realized the only reason Putin wasn't able to turn Russia back into full USSR-style dictatorship is the internet.

the only reason all these false flags don't work is the internet

We'd have double strength shitposting on soc.chan.four.prog

This smells a lot like Java web applets.

can't wait to write C for web

I can't wait to get driveby viruses from a 1x1 applet again

this is fucking stupid
you're offloading compatibility issues on the browser rather than the developers, which means it'll suck

>you're offloading compatibility issues on the browser rather than the developers
thats not what it does, and developers handling compatibility issues is a problem

It makes sense in C++ which is designed to be explicit with stronger typing rules than C, but C has so much implicit conversion bollocks that I don't understand why they'd bother.

wasm is basically language-independent applets done right and that's fine, but using it outside the browser makes no sense.
It has been possible for like 10 years with emscripten and for 2 years with wasm - github.com/emscripten-core/emscripten/wiki/Porting-Examples-and-Demos , although Rust is more popular for new projects since the compiler supports the wasm target natively, see aimlesslygoingforward.com/blog/2019/02/09/writing-a-rust-roguelike-for-the-desktop-and-the-web/ for example.
You don't get viruses from JS, and wasm is basically asm.js in binary.

>using it outside the browser makes no sense.
because when you take out 'web' from the name it's basically standardized assembly which has alot of value
