In fact, I had a hard time finding ANY games I'd consider playable outside those that are validated by default.

Proton works for over half the steam titles unless your linux and mesa are outdated.

Why the fuck are even native linux games so fucking choppy?
I'll be getting 200fps with gsync enabled and it will still feel like a fucking choppy mess.
The added input latency ontop of this choppiness just ruins any potential for gaming on it.

With arch and a vega64, most games just work flawlessly on proton.

im used to playing csgo at 300 fps with like 1-5 ms ping. Will the experience be te same on linux? I am dual booting right now.

Rocket League is on everything as well.
Civ is cool but I'd count that as one game, same with Warhammer.
TF2 has been dead for years.
Dota 2 was always shit.
Ark was always shit.
Stardew Valley is overrated, you're literally better off emulating the classic Harvest Moon games on linux.
Terraria can run on the fucking 3DS.

Of that entire list, I'd only even consider Civ6 and Total War Warhammer 1+2 as modern games that would actually be worth playing on a linux desktop.

I found CSGO much choppier on linux even though I was getting 200fps.
Give it a try but don't expect it to be perfect.

World of Warships runs fine in Proton. THat's not even a native Steam game

Not him, but I know osu doesn't work right. Boots, but locks itself to 50 fps and has terrible input latency on Linux. 60 hertz screen btw.

I've had issue with modded minecraft in the twitch launcher.

After that I gave up and went to dual booting. Not worth the time to debug it.

I have no idea, I just assumed the online part with the insane autobanning of legit players would have multiple strokes when it sees a linux player connect.

This. I'd love to play more games, but most of is not interesting at all. There are a couple of great games each year, but that's about it.

Nier: Automata was a masterpiece and A Hat in Time was good. Beat Saber is also great, if you've got a VR headset.
But all other games in 2018 were pretty meh.
