Phones have plateaued. The iPhones more than any other phones. Apple no longer cares about improving the hardware, now they only care about selling your their shitty services.
And because of their iron grip over iOS development (There are all kinds of APIs only apple apps may use and there are plenty of background modes and services that nobody else's app can have), they can make sure that hardly anyone will use competing services, since those can't, due to these restrictions they have that apple's apps don't, compete.
It's gotten so bad that even normies realize how much iPhone development has stagnated. Even the normies can't tell the difference in performance between the newest iPhone Xs and an iPhone 7.
