SEETHING A+ CERT OWNER

Well, it is good for the entriest of levels (i.e. first year as CS major or at most second year before going to your 3rd year/Associate's) but later on it is indeed shit.
>over 200 bucks per exam
Disgusting.

Most exams are around that price. Remind meet how much college costs again??

Nothing because I live in a first world country

for you pajeet

I live in Ireland and it's 3000 per year even though it's classed as "free education". UK is about the same. Scotland is cheaper. No idea about rest of the first world maybe you can fill me in

If you have a .edu email you can get 50% off.
If you're unemployed you can get a voucher but i think its rebate only so you gotta pay first then they'll reimburse you.

That said... A+, N+, Security+ all worthless... Barely for entry level helldesk/"desktop support / deployment" jobs...
Go CCNA or Microsoft.

N+ and S+ are good to grab for the fundamentals. But CCNA CEH CCNP Juniper etc are for getting jobs

Mcse is an incredibly valuable cert m8. You won't get passed hr for a sys admin position without one

FUCK YOU, I FAILED THAT BITCH TWICE.

>Mcse is [...] valuable
It's not, and you know it. Leaked brain dumps have made it worthless.

>You won't get [...] a sys admin position without one
Certs get you an interview, at best. They won't magically get you a job.

My dad never shut up about how important certs are. Glad i never listened to him, dude is still living in the 80s in his mind

I said it would get passed hr who are filtering the CV'S . Brain dumps don't change the fact that I can type Mcse into a jobs site and find plenty of hits circa 60K salary. They typically expect ccna and virtualisation certs along with sql skills and exchange.

Yeah its annoying because they want you to memorise a bunch of non essential specs like how many pins a dimm has

i seriously hope i'm never passed over for not having A+
i should have gotten it before they made it expire, there's no way i want to pay to upkeep that braindead cert path

at least cisco's curriculum goes deep enough where renewal through learning a new branch of it every couple years is fun

I'm sorry, I have zero respect for these certs. If all the answers are out in the open, anyone with half a brain can pass these exams. The only reason why you see a decent salary is because there's simply no alternative to these exams to prove your skill set, other than relevant work experience.

Literally nothing. 0. Nada. In at least most of central and west EU.

>Out in the open
Welcome to the internet faggot. You can find anything on here. Enjoy your stay

>Steal the exam answers from your teacher
>Get an A+
>Argue you passed the course fair and square and omit the fact you *cheated*
Mate...

How do you feel about CEH

Just a Security+ and a TS clearance will get you loads of job offers.

Same deal. It's rubbish. Try OSCP.

The exam isn't just copy pasted each year you test. They change it up and give scenarios. But yes the definition on how to set up a DNS is available online

Sec+

>ITT: Brainlets who couldn't pass comptia test shit on the certs.

The certs will land you jobs and expand basic principles before getting more advanced

Each year exam answers leak, sometimes every month. Even case studies leak.

>DNS
There's setting up a DNS server using an online guide, and then there's remembering answers for exams.

Mate, this fraud is indefensible. No-one should respect these certs and this certification cesspool we find ourselves in won't change until people like you stop shilling these worthless certs, and certification bodies start testing actual practical skills inside random lab environments.

the only thing A+ will land you are customer support jobs at geeksquad and microcenter

Half of you nibbas are unemployed,

I agree the boards and bodies overseeing these should be more strict. But saying the certs wont land you a job is an outright lie. And it's a good place to start to get down the basics before moving to serious shit. Don't think that just because some people cheat others don't study hard to learn all they can. Those who lack college and can't get a job. No job means no experience so they have even less prospects, and that loop goes forever.

>>Respect
Bahaha respect doesn't pay the bills kid. If you want to get hired as a wintel sys admin or get a job in a MSP those are the certs you need to get in the door. Linux admin means red hat certs and netsec has plenty of their own; all competing for the name recognition that Microsoft and Cisco certs have.

>But saying the certs wont land you a job is an outright lie.
I never said it won't land you a job - they do, and that's the problem. I keep repeating that these certs simply do not serve their purpose. They don't actually test an applicant's skill set, rather their memory capabilities to reproduce answers they memorised from brain dumps. This is a real concern because the industry places too much value on these certs because they lack the proper metrics, and applicants that pass those certs keep stressing the value because they have no alternative to prove their skill set. Other than *relevant work experience *.

>Don't think that just because some people cheat others don't study hard to learn all they can.
Right, yet without any relevant work experience, a good degree, or some other form of credentials, the honest applicant will be shunned for these worthless certs just as much

>Those who lack college and can't get a job. No job means no experience so they have even less prospects, and that loop goes forever.
Indeed, and all we have left to offer these people is a worthless certification cesspool. The bodies overseeing these certs obviously don't care because they will get their money anyway because of their monopoly. The industry will keep paying without a better system, and will finance fraud on a global scale as a result. Good job, industry.

Yes, people get hired by simply remembering brain dumps. The industry is broken and should get their shit together, but they won't because people like you keep shilling their misplaced importance and keep paying for a worthless piece of paper. I feel embarrassed to be part of an industry that actively encourages fraud.

Hate to break it to you, but that’s all industry. Everywhere you go, everyone will be lost in the sauce and surprised they are still working at whoever you’re working. Get over it, either play the game and win or be a sore loser

Ah, and there's your kind, of course. There's a special place in hell for your kind. The kind that tells anyone who explains that system system is broken and ugly, to be silent and the horror continue.

You're not breaking anything to me. Playing this "game" or not doesn't change the fact that the industry is broken. And ignoring it won't help to fix the industry which is desperate need need of fixing.

If I had my way, I'd have you all shot for turning a blind eye and playing your part in making sure this perpetually fraudulent industry lives on.

But you don’t get your way, and you never will. Enjoy your poverty and unhappiness. Your stubborn refusal to adapt to situations out of your control isn’t a virtue, it’s a fault. You are and will always be, a loser.

well said brotherfag

I'm happily employed by my merits alone - not due to the worthless certificate industry like your sorry asses are. I have surpassed your level of employment long ago and I spurn you and your kind that refuse to accept you *do* have control over your employment without succumbing to fraud. You're the loser, and without stepping up your "game", you'll be forever stuck in your self-imposed limbo. Tough.

Someone needs a hug

Oh no, I just started a class for A+ and networking, what am I in for Jow Forums

a bunch of bullshit

a shallow curriculum of memorization without much ability to retain since not being taught anything to a depth where you can practically apply it

Yeah, I noticed it’s mostly just a basic tech course, how to build a computer, configure a basic network, that stuff.

Useless bullshit that is not applicable to anything non IT printer helpdesk related.

>not watch LinusTechTips, creator of linux, explain what RAID is

yeah but it's important for a foot in the door job

>20
>in an apprenticeship
>A+ last year
>Sec+ last week
>working on Net+ now
Even if the certs were worth jack shit, it's been great actually having a list of things to learn about.
a-am I going to make it?

How do I even begin to into IT in general? Abandoning my current field for it

Have connections

Good employment is 90% connections

>any job ever
Not really helpful

I hope you didn't pay for it. You can learn A+ from youtube and a pirated pdf

If you're switching fields, don't, unless you have connections in said field

you probably have better connections in your current field

CEH is not that simple to get, that shouldn't be grouped with the mickey mouse book club certs like ccna and the like.

that's super important, what if you call yourself a professional technician then buy the wrong fucking RAM that wont fit?

>failing the A+ twice

Attached: X7fQkrX.jpg (1200x1000, 166K)

The trick is to get A+, then get a higher level one right after, which re-extends your A+, then a higher one after that, which re-extends your A+ and the previous one.

t. guy who studied his ass off for the SYO-401 only to find out that because his A+ expired, he couldn't get it renewed so just stuck with Sec+ now

if youre not a retard in high school its not that hard to get tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships. most of my friends got full rides

Why bother to get Net+ when you have Sec+? It's literally (and figuratively) beneath you.

It's basically worthless unless you want a help desk spot.
