shoutout to cryptool v1 for being a neat little text+hex editor with lots of cool procedures to play with shoutout to cryptool v2 for being usefull if you know half of what you are doing i guess, i've only gotten it to work with two or three things in the past, transforming data types into what the procedures expect seems to be a constant roadblock for me. recomend stick-with-it-ness or good examples or any other crypto educational software Jow Forums?

Secure yet configurable operating system is a must. Linux is a gigantic OS with a corresponding attack surface likely with "contributions" involving v\back doors from alphabet agencies.
>Huawei laptop 'backdoor' flaw raises concerns bbc.com/news/technology-47800000 >A flaw in Huawei Matebook laptops, found by Microsoft researchers, could have been used to take control of machines, the Times has reported. There will be a lot of conspiracy theories to come.
This is as if straight out of Burning Chrome >What's the new weapon against money laundering gangsters? bbc.com/news/business-47772362 >Specialist software is used to arrange lots of tiny bank deposits that slip below the radar, explains Mark Gazit, chief executive of ThetaRay, a financial crime AI provider headquartered in Israel.
>"A $0.25 transaction will never be spotted by a human, but transactions of that kind can launder $30m if they are done hundreds of millions of times," he says.
Old stories from the cold war tell of US copy machines that had cameras installed taking pictures of what was copied, and then having the camera rolls retrieved during maintenance. This was machines used by embassies and high value institutions. I would expect something similar to be installable today. A camera with enough storage capacity for millions of sheets is tiny in today's technologies.
Also check up the stories on the Eurion constellation feature in copying machines, there is definitely more going on than most people are aware of. Same with the near invisible yellow dots added to printouts to trace the sources.
It cuts your dna at the edit site and relies on random proteins to "fix" it properly by inserting literally random bits of DNA until it "glues" back together.
The only time they can actually use that is when they are editing dozens of zygotes at a time and check them to see that they were edited properly.
If you jam this shit in your leg a bunch of cells will be damaged on the DNA level by a fucking DNA hatchet and the repair mechanisms that kick in have an extremely high chance of causing fucking CANCER.

You were quicker to comment this time. It is almost like I feel sorry that the last /hmg/ sank pretty much without trace, one had 4 replies and the one before that had exactly zero replies before it slid off page 10. But only almost.
===/sec/ News: >Facebook 'hosts' cyber-crime marketplaces bbc.com/news/technology-47831216 >Facebook has been host to "dozens" of busy marketplaces and exchanges used by cyber-thieves to buy and sell stolen goods, suggests a security firm. >Researchers at Cisco found 74 groups on Facebook that openly traded stolen credit card numbers and bank account details. >The groups had a regular membership of about 385,000 people, they found. >Facebook said it had shut down the groups for breaking the social network's policies on financial fraud.
Funny how FB acts - after it has been alerted. In spite of massive surveillance of humanity it "needs" help to see problems that could affect its earnings negatively.

Got some vulnerable code with strcpy in main, buffer is 1024, trying to overflow and redirect return pointer to start of buffer with shellcode but can't seem no matter how many values I overwrite. Is there something I need to be aware of with main or is just treated as another function?
Jayden Gonzalez
just another function

did you notice that hmg stole our patented threadname and tried to pass of off as their own? the thread died after 22 posts. lmao. I don't know why they hate so much, but I did grab their resources list in case there's something new not in ours:

just cheat your way through while learning the concepts and you'll figure out where your knowledge is lacking. don't even bother trying to hack until you have a decent skill set; just read the walkthroughs and go through the motions. the best way to learn exploits is to get real exploits and copy them by hand while exploring in a debugger. don't feel bad about not being good.

part of what makes that film so awesome is the film score by world renowned composer, Vangelis. I've been collecting his world since I was a young man. just search for his discography, to get a glimpse of how prolific this composer is. I also discovered Stina Nordenstam's music through a collaboration between her and Vangels called, "Ask the Mountains". Some of the most beautifully sensual music I've ever heard.
Alright, boys. Time to change things up a little bit.
I'm on a journey for food substitution via supplements and bread. I'm doing it for many reasons but what makes me yearn for it is how futuristic it is. An inspiration for this is from the movie 'Onions Green'. Imagine that you can consume all your daily nutritional needs by eating the same meal every day with the assistance of a few capsules. This will effectively get rid of the need for food variety and takes away the deciding factor of what to eat, all at the expense of around $100 a month. And let's not forget that you won't have to taste the green stuff to stay healthy.
Currently, I'm doing research on what supplements to take, side effects of over-dosage, verifying the major and necessary bodily intake requirements as I do not want to have irreversible damage. If any of you really care or thinking of doing the same thing, I can provide updates to this progress.
The biggest hurdle will be calculating bio-availability of various nutrients. A lot of nutrients are only absorbed when present with other nutrients in specific ratios too. On top of that some nutrients only become bio-available in certain foods when cooked. It will be an interesting experiment to learn from though.
Isaac Martin
Why not just drink Onions? Someone has already done all this work for you and provides it in a convenient package. I've been eating it close to exclusively for about 4 months now and it's great. >all at the expense of around $100 a month Oh. Well good luck with that.
Colton Phillips
ty, user Yeah, I never thought about that. I'll take that into consideration. I'm not trying to taste the shitty part of being healthy and I say $100 because the pills in total cost (so far) is around $80, covering the span of at least 2-3 months per bottle and the bread costs about $2-3 daily.
James Harris
Eating just bread for macronutrients isn't going to be very healthy. You won't die, but you won't be doing great either.
Lucas Collins
you know the cia sent that anthrax right? just like they falsified the wmd evidence that led us into iraq? there's a cop in arkansas who had to retire due to being poisoned with anthrax and it happened after he started investigating the cocaine being imported by barry seal while bill clinton was governor. the fbi started investigating an innocent man for the anthrax letters and leaked his name to the press in order to ruin him. he sued the fbi and won a $5.8 million dollar settlement because they needed to cover up the crime with a scapegoat.

Is anyone in here doing the OSCP labs? I want to see if anyone is finding it just reasonably easy. I’ve popped humble, sufference, gh0st plus 33 others. I pretty much just have pain and the CTF box left in the public network.
What is really surprising to me is how many of these boxes have HTB/ vulnhub clones. I am finding I come across so many that I have already popped in the wild, it is crazy.
For instance mike is basically a clone of the HTB box arctic, kraken is a poor, easier clone of the HTB box Mercy, Bethany is a slightly modified HTB optimum, hotline is like beep; it’s crazy how many of these I have already done FOR FREE.

>I don't know why they hate so much, but I did grab their resources list in case there's something new not in ours: I think it is envy, and that they simply do not understand that angry, bitter threads implode quickly while comfy threads like this will last.

The producers of Blade Runner weren't willing to license a video game version of the movie so a company instead licensed the soundtrack from Vangelis and claimed their video game was an interpretation of the music rather than the movie. Crazy thing is they got away with that! Today they'd end up with a coven of lawyers up their poop holes.
>The producers of Blade Runner weren't willing to license a video game version of the movie What? One exists. By Westwood. You know, the OG command and conquer team.

lads how do I wear a trench coat and make it work so I don't look like an autist?

Every day i try to >live more cyberpunk >move away from software and hardware that does not respect my privacy >read more, whether it's about technology, cyberpunk literature, conspiracy theory, or politics >educate myself more in general >work towards a cyber security job >improve my appearance and health to wear the fashion I want and look the way I want
Cyberpunk has given me purpose and direction in life.
any good hardware and software findings? How do you aim to look appearance wise?
Kevin Hughes
Appearance? A mix of rave wear, techwear, and clothes explicitly labeled as cyberpunk (usually they're custom made on Etsy) don't let people tell you that you aren't cyberpunk because you don't look like an 80s punk with a cellphone. People that only think cyberpunk is an 80s literary genre and has to be a certain way aren't usually in the cyberpunk community themselves.
Also for hardware and software there's nothing in the hardware department that isn't Intel, AMD, Chinese, Affordable, or has any kind of software. I don't think purism's upcoming phone has proprietary hardware?
Also on a side note I'm trying to pay with crypto as much as I can because it's more anonymous than cash for online payments.
Justin Martinez
>Etsy
A lot of it looks edgy, but some things I might go for. Do you know if you can pay with XMR?
Have you considered going for an x200 and librebooting it?
Austin Jackson
Paying with crypto usually requires a crypto debit card and I'm not sure if there's any fully anonymous ones
Also I'd absolutely love to libreboot an x200 but I usually need more powerful hardware. I am thinking about getting a laptop though and if it isn't one of those AMD thinkpads it might be an x200

Not sure if this is the right thread but how do I get experience in an IT related field with no knowledge or experience? Even the call centers in my area want previous experience
Nolan Stewart
your time is worth nothing to them so you can't expect to be reimbursed. that's why education is a thing, except it's actually worse because you have to pay instead of being paid nothing. it'd be interesting if you could find an apprenticeship or something where you work for free for a bit to gain experience. wish that was a thing
Nicholas Price
Well fuck, my hope was that I could gain experience while getting my degree and certs but I guess I'm just gonna have to go the wage slave route til school is over. Would picking up an A+ cert be worth anything?
Isaiah Green
Currently, basing off of Nature's Own Butter Hot Dog Buns and taking in about 3 buns a meal. It will not meet the 25 g requirement so I'm looking into fiber supplements to make up for what is lost.

Put whatever self-taught skills and relevant classes you have in your resume
Job postings are mostly bullshit, but sometimes the company has a brain and actually needs whatever is in their posting
If you want an OSINT side of it, look up people who work at the same company in the area and reach out over LinkedIn and see if they want coffee or something. If yes, have a conversation and see if they can get you a referral (don't lead with that obviously).
Go to local IT-related meetups and get to know people and ask around if they know anyone looking to hire entry-level folks for support roles (again, don't lead with this). Get a list of things that you've previously learned to demonstrate that you can learn on the job.
If someone gets you a lead, start researching the company and role and then look at skills that they will need. When you contact them next time, talk about how you're learning about X for the job.
That is legit /fa/ inspo material and used in real life.
Ayden Jenkins
I got away with it, but it came with a social cost. Wearing standard attire is easymode.

The classics: Total Recall (both versions), Johnny Mnemonic, RoboCop, etc. But also films like Watchmen, The Matrix and (newest?) TRON had lots of cyberpunk going on. If you want more recent try Chappie and there was a south korean film called Natural City I liked.
Nicholas Adams
Trying to overflow return pointer in main for the pic related challenge. Even though I get output on the address of the buffer to use that at the end of arg1, with shellcode and 0x41s filling the rest, I can't get it to exploit properly. Have tried lots of offsets past the end of the buffer boundary. Anything else I need to be aware of? Is there an easy way to calculate where the return pointer is going to be in relation to buffer?
That's the shitty part of modern life, the mainstream fashion is too strict and too blindly followed.
Mason Bell
if i had to guess where the saved return pointer would be, i'd say the 260 bytes after the buffer location. 256 to get to the end of the buffer, and then another 4 to overwrite the saved base pointer. A compiler could easily switch around local variables though, and idk if that would be true for every calling convention so that's not necessarily the case. just an educated guess. you should learn how to use gdb for this stuff. be aware that gdb will change the location of the buffer due to removing environment variables
Jason Jenkins
The Natural City trailer on yt looks really good. currently seeking a magnet to watch. if anyone has a source pls post. thx4sharing
Thanks for taking the time to respond lads, unfortunately I don't know much of anything at the moment, learning the basics via the Professor Messer A+ videos and hoping maybe I can pick up that cert even before school starts (in about a month) but I got discouraged because some googling told me an A+ alone wasn't super sought after. I appreciate the networking tips, I have a few friends over n the field I'm talking too, to get a starting point at least
Joseph Wood
tried playing around in gdb, using info frame to find out when the saved EIP changes, but can only change it to 41414141 and not the expected address in LE form. I guess the while loop and printf call have to complete and the function has to return, sometimes I get segfault without a print. Can I put anything except null characters in the argv?
Austin Butler
if you're using gdb then you know the address EIP is stored in, so you can find the offset by subtracting that by the buffer's address
