Are there any cherry style switches that are IPA resistant? By this I mean no binding/scratchy/other plastic damage after submerging them in 99.9% IPA.

2nd for blackwidow chroma

Attached: 819rrT1T3pL._SL1500_.jpg (1500x779, 127K)

Not that I'm aware of. Kailh's box switches are dust & liquid resistant, but probably not to that degree.

Leopold

Seconding Leopold depending on availability, or Ducky if you really need your backlight.

I tried to figure out what type of plastic is used in some switches, but apparently manufacturers prefer not to tell in detail. All I could basically find was one autistic geekhack thread where someone literally boiled his mx blues. Maybe I'll just buy a switch sampler and try for myself if IPA renders them unusable.

Pic related has the materials for the Kailh Box switches.

Ducky One 2

I believe most switches use PA66 (opaque) or polycarbonate (clear) for the housings, and POM for stems.

Thanks m8!

After some checking, everything SHOULD be very resistant to IPA. I know from experience that ABS is not IPA resistant, killed one of my Dell 8115 with it. The only thing with the box switches that might be problematic is that they are factory lubed, and afaik silicone greases will be washed out by IPA. Anyway, thanks a lot, will report back once I've done some actual testing, might be of interest to some other anons.

masterkeys s or mk730?

MK S PBT

Don't drink India Pale Ales around your keyboard and this isn't really a concern

why? the mk730 is $40 more

wrong person

The 730 is the newer model, so they're likely trying to clear out the old stock of the S. The S PBT in particular has nicer caps and I prefer its high-profile case design.

If it's 40 bucks cheaper it's a no-brainer.

which do you think has better build quality and will last longer? also if it matters the mk730 has usb c

also Id be getting the cherry mx blue model, and the masterkeys s has it so the normal keys are mx blue but some keys like fn spacebar and shift are mx green, how is this?

Attached: 1554838758911.png (680x637, 268K)

The S PBT has much better caps from the factory, and the high-profile case should protect the switches a bit more than the floating key design of the MK730.
I personally consider USB-C a bit of a meme, I mean how often are you gonna be unplugging the cable from your keyboard?

God all I want in my life is a modern Space Cadet.

then make one. all the pieces you need are already here

I wasted money on a ducky shine 7.

I love it but i cant believe i spent 160 dollars on this thing.

That's nothing I spent $470 on a model F, not including the price of the keycaps that I'm going to buy

Welcome to the rabbit hole. Once you go deeper, you're never getting out.

Thinkpad's keyboard.

Is there a good but cheap keyboard with the mexican layout of keys? That is, the big return key and the ñ key.

I'm planning to get the Ajazz AK33 from Aliexpress, it is very cheap right now.
However, it has the american layout of keys. Is it any good? Is there something better in the price range?

thoughts on the IBM model M keyboard?

Attached: s-l1000.jpg (1000x428, 58K)

Cheaper version of the model F while still maintaining a similar feel. Just know that it's a membrane keyboard and will always be limited to 2KRO. Unicomp hasn't really updated the membrane design all that much so you can't replace it with one that has 3kro or more

>Masterkeys
>Build Quality

Attached: 1546125077538.gif (260x187, 156K)

it it worth it to buy a used one off ebay or a new unicomp one?

$120
willing to order globally
low profile linear switches
flat chiclet keycaps
tenkeyless
single color backlight at least

Anyone know who makes a Low Profile TKL Chiclet keyboard?

Attached: yYGIvbf5ioPgtZupUVcjlwH63lM-AAck8NFtXSgi26Y.jpg (1024x681, 89K)

Buy a Unicomp one.

Topre

Attached: topre_switch.png (648x608, 310K)

Recently, Unicomp actually got theirshit together, so definitely one of theirs. That don’t suck quite as much now.

The only TKL low profile board of that nature I know iof is the Hexgears X-1
It's not quite TKL, but it is close enough and it's re-programmable, making it a non-issue.

Why you'd want chiclet keys is beyond me

OH GOD OH MAN WHAT DO I DO

FORGOT PIC

commit sudoku

What is that on the keys?

Ice cream

youtube.com/watch?v=1vHRMeRszw4

Flip the keyboard over you dumbfuck

Idk how to take the spacebar off

Attached: IMG_20190409_233903.jpg (5312x2988, 1.58M)

Flat chiclet keys are infinitely more comfortable to me. You don't have to consciously aim for the small center curve and you have a wider area to press. Standard tall keys are also wobblier making input feel less clean.

What kind of braindead orangutan eats ice cream while they type?

CLOSE YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU EAT FATTIE

>3 month wait time
Fuck. Anything else?

Keys are soaking. Finishing up cleaning protective layer. This guy won't be typed on tonight.

Anyone have experience lubing with heavier lubes? I just did my first lube job on a switch and it doesnt feel that great, I might even go as far as to say it's even more scracthier than pre lubed, but these cherry blacks were pretty scratchy when I got them

Less is more m8. The way I lube switches is essentially the same as outlined here:

youtu.be/Q104IB0LEZc

That's about how much I did with my krytox 205g0 hmm

blank keycaps yeah or nah?

Sure why not.

Enjoy your future ant farm fatty

Ordered myself a Akko 3068 from banggood. Am I welcome around here?

just lube the contact points, it's not that hard
if you mean they're "stickier" because you applied too much lube, that will go away in a day or two

how long is the wait for a planck from olkb?

Drevo layout is bad for gaming because the WASD is a bit fucked. The A key is not directly under the W key.

Attached: drevo.png (1173x832, 751K)

/mkg/ noob here

I found a Hyper X Alloy FPS cheap.
Should I buy? I'm a programmer and I don't play video games.
What's the verdict on this keyboard?

That's not the same keyboard, you posted a different one.

Hello can I please get an opinion on my setup?

This is a white poker 3 RGB. The white keycaps have been swapped to black. The white baseplate case has been replaced with a heavy steel black. The cherry are browns. Next to a nice mionix naos 7000 with the same peachy pink lights.

Did I do a good job or is this shit?

Attached: IMG_20190410_170330.jpg (2308x1731, 1.35M)

>browns
Cute otherwise

bump

I dig it.

>tfw hotglued my keyboard

Attached: 20190410_121556.jpg (4032x3024, 3.41M)

Just design your own PCB. It's so cheap to order custom made ones these days even with 5 MOQ.

w-what is that white stuff user?

If you're talking to me (), then the issue is that I started this keyboard like 2 years ago when I knew a lot less about PCBs. By the time I knew what I was doing I had already handwired almost the entire thing. I still have one small custom PCB for part of it, though.

However, yes, for anybody starting a project like this, you'd be retarded to not get a custom PCB. (I was just retarded when I started mine, no excuses necessary.)

Also nice digits

I finally realized that reds are the most comfy for me. Even if I love the feel of greens or box navy, for daily use I grow tired of them.

Using weakass springs like reds cause your finger muscles to atrophy and eventually your fingers fall off

I also have a white pok3r RGB (browns too) and would like to at least get black keycaps. Have been wondering how it would look and now I know. Thank you for posting that pic. It's a very nice setup.

Linears are based, I don't care what anyone says

blacks are great, reds are not

I use reds with 62g springs

Blacks feel heavier than greens to me. Reds are just peak comfy.

lmao, that's like the "subwoofer in a honda civic" of switches

...

Realistically, how hard would it be to get one of these working, and how much would you pay for one?

Attached: G80-9009_001.jpg (1280x622, 209K)

Don't know what switches it has so decline to answer.

Cherry MX Clear, IIRC

check the japanese amazon, they have plenty of miniature TKL chiclets over there

Oh, then no way.

Any big keyboards that don't have anything ok the righthand side? I splurged to get that sweet symbiotic space cadet keyset, but I'm so spoiled by 60% boards I dont want anything on thrle right.

I have a classic Blackwidow (no LEDs). I like it but I heard it's horrible when compared to any 'good' blue switch keyboard. Is it worth to upgrade it to another model?

Cooler Master MK730
amazon.com/dp/B07N4D7S6F/?tag=pcpapi-20&th=1

in brown switches

Attached: ruins of jericho.jpg (375x271, 42K)

I'm leaning towards the ducky because the keys are not floating

How so?

no way to what?
getting it to work because of the switches? Or out of your budget park.
It does seem to have some proprietary ports which need to be plugged into a junction box

Ducky One 2 (TKL)
mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=4284

or GMMK (TKL)?
pcgamingrace.com/products/gmmk-tkl-tenkeyless-customized?variant=20432028794938

Both in red switches.

Lmao fat fuck

Are there any entry level boards ~$100 that feature DSA keycaps out of the box? I type in Dvorak and want to change the physical layout on it.

Attached: 1552388047615.jpg (1440x1299, 100K)

GMMK just because you can swap out the switches in case you don't like reds

I don't know of any that do out of the box, you'll probably need to get the caps afterwards.
or you could just go blank or use qwerty caps and ignore it like me. my Iris is in workman

Attached: Iris.jpg (4032x2268, 414K)

It uses fucking clears

If you don't have rsi already you will soon if you're using those heavy fucks

I've been trying my best to find one online. How do I know if a keyboard is DSA keycap compatible?

They're all MX mount, it'll work. Signature plastics did sell alps mount DSA caps but those are all sold out now.
