Wait these things really only had 1.44MB of space? What the fuck did people use these for? You can't even put a 4K image on this thing.

fuck off

plenty big enough for several 40 page papers

> being this fucking retarded
kill yourself, cancerous faggot

kys faggot

You could get a whole operating system on four of them... pretty sweet.

Underageb& detected

Programs used to be a lot smaller. OSes used to be less bloated.

gr8 b8 m8

less bloat with programs and all file types back in the good old days

WTF you talking about. Its a save game icon. Any save game is more than atleast 5mb.

Now you need a blu ray disc for a hello world electron application. The absolute state of software.

>You can't even put a 4K image on this thing

Because it's for storing two HD images, idiot.

The entire game "JezzBall"

Used two to bring diablo 2 patch 1.09c from the internet cafe home.

subhuman boomer scum
if you're over 25 years old it's time to neck yourselves

no u

>if you're over 25 years old
lol that was 20 years ago

1MB is about 200 pages of plaintext.

kys faggot

more than enough for that era.
1.44m could easilly handle a full game for example

no it couldnt
one of the first programs I write was a file splitter to put a game on multiple discs

>Tetris
>Prince of Persia
>Maniac Mansion
>Nebulus
>Pacman
>Commander Keen
>Wolfenstein 3D
>GORILLA.BAS
Had copies of each of these on one disk back in the day, zoomer.

and I once bought a game that came on 30 disks, whats your point

>all these boomers taking the obvious bait
Floppy disks had 1.44 GB not MB, boombooms.

Used to trade nes, snes, gb, sega and etc roms with them, for bigger games you’d have to use winzip to span them on multiple disks

>my RenPy save folder alone is over 2GB at this point
true

tfw i though i had hard disks before hard disks were a thing

When the HDD died in our Pentium PC, I used a Windows 98 boot floppy to get to a command prompt, and extracted the Transport Tycoon demo from another floppy to the 2MB virtual drive to play.

What game? My record was beneath a steel sky, that had 14 disks. 30 sounds like you're exaggerating.

I think it was Ultima 8

Ha, Ultima, okay I could believe that.

I 'member trading floppy disks with all sorts of illicit text files back in the day.

>Wait these things really only had 1.44MB of space?
Nope only 1.38MB (the have different sizes) of usable file storage space. You got fooled by the storage jew, nibba.

Such a baiter you are desu.

Attached: IMG_6463.jpg (263x192, 6K)

And then that one fucked up disk ruined the entire set for you

someone post the windows 8 diskettes
think they had jap writing on them
only 3k or so

If you think that's bad, the older ones that were actually floppy had 360k of space

kys

I used them to bring few hundred kilobytes sized game trailers in .rm at sub 100 pixels to show friends at school. They sometime get corrupted during the journey.

Yes, and games like Wolfenstein in one.

>op is verified as 17

8/10 bait :&)

pu1700, zoomer

Not him but I had command and conquer red alert come on like 23 floppies

based

Holy shit I forgot about that game. My friends mom loved fucking playing that game

SimCity

I remember storing like 5 porn pictures on one of those badboys.

Fuck off retard

I used them to bring a Nes emulator and some roms to school :^)

It was enough space to hold things like essays, html files, jpegs, etc. Everything takes up more space now because of bloat and compression free file types.

>be in school during the days of the floppy
>didn't do assignment
>take a random floppy
>slide the cover and scratch the fuck out of the actual storage
>put disk in on school computer
>drive starts clicking like crazy
>error
>aww look teacher, the floppy won't work, it's busted
>ok...you can hand it in tomorrow
>later zoomers

By the time 1.44M disks and drives were actually commonplace it wasn't anywhere near enough space, honestly the whole idea of "enough space" was an alien concept in computing in general.

Most real applications shipped in sets of 2-3 disks or more, especially after hard disks became the norm.

You realize that 1.44mb are the double sided double density ones right?

Early ones had 360kb and 720kb, they also made ED floppies which had 2.88/4mb

>copying the game shortcut to the floppy hoping to play the game in my home

>sixth grade
>swapping floppies full of porn on the playground for pudding cups
>show up one day with a 400mb zip disk
>I am a god
