>middle aged, non-tech savvy neighbor asks for my help in getting videos from her iphone to a USB drive >say sure, it'll probably be really easy >connect her iphone to my thinkpad >can't access the files on her iphone >can't use the usual "share" function you see on android that would let you transfer files any way you want >download and install itunes on my laptop because I remember hearing that you need itunes to transfer files between an iphone and a computer >itunes doesn't work because the videos are saved in the notes app, not the usual gallery >ask her for her macbook because apple products "work well together" >airdrop fails repeatedly >make sure both macbook and iphone are connected to wifi >airdrop keeps failing >google various permutations of "transfer notes app videos iphone mac" to no avail >eventually figured out that I need to enable icloud on her iphone notes app, save the note with the videos to icloud, enable icloud on the mac notes app, wait for files to sync and on top of that >double clicking on a video in the mac file explorer plays the video IN THE ICON >need to right click video files to make them play in quicktime
IT JUST WORKS
With android it would've been >connect phone to computer >drag and drop video files
Similar problems with my mother's ipad and iphone. Nope. Neverafuckinggain. She's getting android shit from now on. I can't be fucked with that tedious bullshit ever again. My mistake for recommending apple "because it's basic".
to lock you out of third party e payment apps, and into apple pay they removed the peripheral used by said third party apps. At least you can use your Apple card now.
Nolan Hall
there were peripherals like that? why not just use nfc? i'm even more confused now
Jaxon Powell
>why not just use nfc? The little dongle things accept magnetic strips, and damn near everyone has at least an old-style debit card, which makes them practical. Apple users do not understand this, since half of them live in the Bay Area.
Noah Richardson
at the time, NFC was not common at the time. It was relatively new and only higher end phones had it. The audio jack was compatible with devices all the way back to the iPhone 1.
Noah Nelson
the mouse thing is fucking evil. By far the most autistic shit I've seen apple put out as a finished product
John Martin
