Final Cut Pro X unless you're a poorfag
if so pirate it

If you're gonna go Final Cut you might as well get Davinci for free. FCX is fucking garbage.

What is a no-frills video editor?

Video editing inherently involves frills, effects, transitions, timelines, and tons of other features.

A better question would be:
>I'm looking to do [this kind of video editing] on [this OS]
>What's a good editor for me?

it's a command line tool, silly user

if you're gonna go proprietary use premiere like a decent human being, fucking itoddler. i hope satania kills you in your sleep

DaVinci Resolve

I always liked Sony Vegas for its ease of use.

Unironically Blender

This. Easy and powerful.

ffmpeg for the first cut and separating audio from video
then for more precise cuts kdenlive or shotcut
For anything else, ffmpeg too

ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.html

I mean this is so obviously the answer. It's free and powerful.

What's everyone's take on OpenShot? I use it, and think it's fine for small projects

Does it still fuck around with your in & out points?

Yes, sadly, but it is freeware so I never expected much out of it. I usually use Sony Vegas for larger videos.

Free version of resolve is able to output up to 4k and includes color correction, runs well on Ryzen, and generally woarks well.
