nepotism and backstabbing

gnu gnu gnu gnu gnu, gnu gnu gnu gnu gnu, gnu gnu gnu gnu gnu gnu!

gnu

First mover advantage. In technology, any pretender to the throne has to be at least 5x better than the incumbent for people to switch en masse. Neither zsh nor fish fit the bill.

/thread

There are a million languages with repls that are better than bash.

It came first.

it's not
POSIX sh is the standard shell

what is a repls

what is Google

what does it matter when you can get fish

"Read-Eval-Print Loop", it's an older term for what we normally call an interactive shell these days (think like Python's interactive mode for example)

The term originates from the early Lisp days when it introduced the concept of interactive programming to many programmers

bump

Because of the GNU project.

>bash
>standard
No, it's cmd.exe. What is wrong with you freetards?

Pajeets aren't welcome here.

Dear gaymer, you funny.

this

> No, it's cmd.exe
Even by Windows standards - no, it isn't.

test

Fail?

>cmd.exe
we powershell now grandpa

mksh will overtake bash as people realize that its the exact same thing but less resource intensive

It has features people wanted and it's better then the other shell implementations.
mksh really isn't the same thing, so I doubt people will drop bash.

It was basically the first FOSS shell, everything else that mattered was proprietary or in legal hell.

it doesn't work like that
if you wan't your scripts to be fast, choose fast shell -> dash?
if you want interactive shell, choose the one that have "interactive" features you like
bash is not slow at all, I've tried mksh in the past and it's not compatible with some stuff I have configured
as for zsh I've tried it once and it was actually slow and behaved weird

He cute

Can anyone explain the comic to me? Only wintards call directories folders and they don't feel strongly about it at all, just confused (and thankful) when made aware of their error.

based autismo missing the point
