What's your excuse now for not having 64GB of ram?

Sure

Tbh 3GB is still enough

I only have 4 RAM slots and RAM prices grows exponentially by stick density.

My mobo doesn't support DDR4 and 16gb seems like plenty
John Rodriguez
bait?
Kevin Long
Because 16 is enough for now. The most ram I ever used was 10 or 11, so I still have a very good margin.

I don't have 8 RAM slots.

but I do

My mainboard only supports DDR3. Also I don't know what chips are in those sticks, how well they overclock or how much you can tighten the timings. 16-18-18-36 isn't ideal. Would rather have quick 16 GB than slow 64 GB if I do make the switch to DDR4.

>That low RAM for Ryzen
Jesus...

I do, 4x 16gb DDR3 1866mhz ECC ram, cost me about $100 USD
Jordan Flores
I paid almost $700 for 64GB in 2017 for my Threadripper 1950x.

The ryzen needs high mhz is pretty much a meme unless you're doing one of the APU ones. High mhz ram on the APUs, due to the extra bandwidth, improves their performance dramatically. However on standard ryzen you normally only get 2-3% higher FPS for using higher speed RAM, or 5% for 2600 vs 4000 basically.

My ChinkPad doesn't support that much RAM and 2bh 16GB is already overkill for me.

>Dance Dance Revolution 5

>bait?
depends on use case. If what you do is mostly web browsing then it is not a bait for linux with light DE. Problem may be only while watching long livestreams. I often spot memory leakage but it is rather custom player problem (closing and reopening browser/tab flushes garbage so it is not a big deal)
>16GB overkill
>barely enough to boot

That's some impressive COPE you've got going on there, friend. You see dramatic performance gains even going from 3200MHz to 3466MHz and tightening your timings. All Ryzen chips are affected equally thanks to the way the Infinity Fabric works. Time to sell your shitty, low speed RAM, bro.
