In some ways I'm not sad to see flash go because it was often a pain if you didn't use mac or windows.

I am actually sad though because a lot of interesting artwork and animations were made in the form of flash movies. I hope some kind of flash player continues to exist far into the future so those old movies can still be watched.

flash sucks, user. i know it could have and should have done better, for a virtualized web platform from the early 00's its pretty damn good. but the file sizes are large, the performance overhead is huge, and actionscript is fucking garbage

i don't know if you remember but anything complicated required running at medium quality to get a smooth framerate and smooth in retrospect was probably barely 45 fps. computers got faster, yeah, but flash got more complicated too. and then circa 2007 everything started getting lower power and lower performance for the sake of battery life which was entirely antithetical to their entire platform

i know html5 isn't the same, but i think it isn't the same simply because it doesn't have the limitations flash did. and so it goes.
