Has anyone here successfully flashed libreboot using a ch341a?

Does coreboot count?

(You)

Any BIOS flash does.
How was it?

Is the classic keyboard really worth the hassle? On my 3rd day of T430 use and actually like the one it has. What even is the difference other than the layout? The only thing I plan to fuck with it the screen this stock shit has got to go.

>"Those who forgot history are doomed to repeat it."

Let's not forget this happened 4 years ago.

A little bit of a pain in the ass, but worth it for not having to deal with SBC horseshit and SBC prices. The wires had to be short to ensure a good connection, but I had to manipulate the motherboard and laptop the thing was attached to in order to be able to connect the damn thing without a problem. Putting the right wires in the right places was slightly problematic because the silkscreening labeling the pins is on the underside of mine, so I'd have to keep flipping it over and over to check the pin and attach the wire and double check the pin. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, but a male-to-female USB extended wouldn't hurt.

it was repeated though, on the macbook

Good to know thanks

wtf?

Yep this 100%

W530/t430 users are trying to cope nonstop

Now that I own a w520 I notice these cope posters so much more often.

They are jealous with buyers remorse

>W520
>USB3.0 x2
>e-Sata
>fuckin' Firewire-400
>Full HD

Fucking based.

fucking based
does it have hdmi?

Where does this meme come from?

p.s Happy "KingSener" aftermarket battery owner on a T430, Stock updated BIOS

Redpill me on the P52

Basically t430 users try to cope with buyers remorse by swapping their keyboards, etc.

They should have got the t420 instead

T520 just arrived in the post. Are there many useful expresscard expansions? I was thinking about just getting a USB 3.0 one but want to know if I should pick up any others while I'm at it.

No USB 3.0 ?

Just get the w520 motherboard

Is there much of a difference between the T9600 and the P8600?
That's just a shitpost created by the W520 shill, AKA idab
Disregard his posts, he just wants attention and is even resorting to samefagging to stay relevant
You can tell his posts apart because of the spacing between lines, often dubbed as "Reddit spacing"

just google it

its hilarious because im not same fagging at all

people just agree with me

imagine that

The W520 is known as the best thinkpad.

He didn't make it, it's a pretty old picture, but the picture is just factually wrong.

Any Thinkpads with ATI graphics, kernel mode switching does not work on FreeBSD and Nvidia cause Nvidia are faggots.

where do I get cute 2hu dolls

Bought a t440 for $60, it has dual batteries (something I found out after opening it), but the external battery doesn't charge, only the internal, wtf?

>$60
>broken
>"wtf"

It's fully functional, the seller was a zoomer that didn't want it because it wouldn't run his favorite games with 4gb ram

>fully functional
>the battery doesn't charge

What?

sellers in my country charge $200 for a broken one with a death battery

Internal battery works, external does not, how many layers of stupidity got you banned from reddit?

I can't believe someone designed this, stepped back and said "yeah, that's good"

And I can't believe someone actually approved it.

How do I get those 51nb laptops. Are they all gone?

Also what're the best screen upgrades for the x201?

you have to suck some chink dick

anybody have experience with a usb 3.0 pci expresscard in an x201/thinkpad without usb 3.0?
I've heard it heats up but I just put it in now

should i get an msata or ssd upgrade with the dvd tray for the t420?

is windows 10 ltsb ok for T420? or should i just be on windows 7?

is it possible to unlock a bios locked x220 or x230?

yes, by flashing coreboot

yes

depends on specs, but both probably are fine. windows 7 is /comfy/ though

after ~10 mins with the expresscard the parlmrest over that area got pretty hot. taking out the expresscard, it was a million degrees

yeah windows 7 is /comfy/ but it's gonna die next year

Is it possible to take apart a model 33 battery and replace the cells in it?

lcdfans on kikebook/wechat sell to the laowai

On an X200 mine was just fine. But it makes buzzing sounds sometimes. I bought this one:

ebay.com/itm/2-Dual-Port-USB-3-0-HUB-Express-Card-ExpressCard-54mm-Hidden-Adapter-for-Laptop/262964912031

Not as fast as built-in ports on other computers I have used but still better than USB 2.0

Not laptop related, anyone ever get a cheap Think centre or Station to use as an occasional secondary or loaner desktop PC? Never hear anything about them or why they're of any interest compared to the 1000 similar consumer desktops out there.

>1488
Like you said they are just typical consumer desktops, like Dell Optiplexes or something. What you see is what you get with them.

Just got my X230, it's absolutely pristine and even nicer than described on ebay.
They sent the wrong AC adapter though.

That keyboard is shit

into

the

trash

it

goes

try again

Looking into my first thinkpad, i just need a laptop to play media of my portable hdd, play VNs, and maybe hearthstone every once in a while? Looking at the X series beacuse i want it to be relatively small, but dont want to drop the cash for the super slim ones.

How does this one look? its grade B rated refurbished, so maybe some scratches and such? Hoping its not too destroyed

Attached: Screenshot_20190422-232605_Chrome.jpg (1440x3040, 701K)

Dumbass
Slap a x220 keyboard on that and you're golden
thinkwiki.org/wiki/Install_Classic_Keyboard_on_xx30_Series_ThinkPads#Warning

No caps lock light or proper indicators

x220 > x230

Scratch that, didn't notice no SSD. This one better? SSD, i5, 8gb ram, b grade

Attached: Screenshot_20190422-233530_Chrome.jpg (1440x3040, 699K)

I want to get an X200 for librebooting purposes. These are my options:
First
>no info about ram or cpu
>useless drained battery
>240 GB SSD
>$40
Second
>core2 L940 1,86 Ghz
>3GB RAM, 1.5-2hrs battery
>120 GB SSD
>$65
Third
>Core2 P8600
>3GB RAM
>3hrs battery
>320 GB HDD
>$70
Which one should I get? (Prices are just a representative, I live in the 3rd world)
Also, how did I manage to destroy my T430s' battery? When I got it three months ago it would last over three (3-3.5) hours now it's down to 2.5 hrs. I capped the charge at 90% and never let it reach under 20%.

Attached: 1542137645050.png (1024x817, 942K)

What the actual fuck...X230 here go for 80$, X200 is like 30-50$

If you want compact and light but powerful i would suggest getting a T4XXs, T440s or T450s are really good

I'm just gonna leave these here

Attached: s-l1600.jpg (1200x1600, 252K)

Attached: s-l1600(2).jpg (1200x1599, 250K)

What? You disregard better cpu and igpu for leds on your keyboard? What the actual fuck

>B key
AAAAAAAAAAAAA

Attached: 1497359805594.jpg (235x211, 10K)

still waiting for the chink who get rich by selling x220 clones with modern cpu

written on x220t

I've had my t440p for quite some time now but haven't touched anything on it yet. What should my course of action be, other than changing the trackpad?

>90W Charger for IBM Lenovo Thinkpad T400 T410 T420 T500 T510 AC Adapter 2-Pin
Will this work with a T60 or T61?

Can i own a thinkpad and still get a girlfriend

idab has both

dude is based af

Any way to tell what gen this is? Not listed in specs, cpu is a i7-4600U.

Attached: Screenshot_20190423-004657_Chrome.jpg (1440x3040, 706K)

i believe gen 1 was ivy bridge, so probably gen 2

I got it to replace my chromebook as a lightweight carry around pc that i can watch movies off my portable hdd, web browse, play VNs and maybe a bit of hearthstone on. Is it an alright purchase for all that? I know i could have gone with a cheaper x240 or something but i just like the thin form factor better

Comfy T430s user here. Been in my bed with the curtains closed and all lights off (except for the occasional thinklight) all long weekend with my T430s right on the bed and the fan has only revved up twice. Feels good man. Goodnight Thinkfriends.

What is the best "hackintoshable" Thinkpad ?

...

blinkenlights are magical for the simpleton
same as blue enter and other retarded memes

Sleep tight, bro.

Best ThinkPad for programming and watching TV?

Honestly I don't want to look like an autist in public with such an old looking keyboard. Classic keyboard proves virginity

I'm fairly certain you could do ask those things, although hearthstone on my t540p stutters quite a bit, but i believe it's mostly due to running on a 5400 rpm spinning rust drive

Anyone have a newer x-model with an iso-layout keyboard? The one where the 4 rightmost keys are smaller than the rest.
I'm thinking of getting an x260 and the only hangup I have is the keyboard

t440p best machine

I just bought a cheap t450. Its alright

T400 for 90€ or T420 i5 for 170€? There are only few ThinkPads available in my country. I would also like to flash libreboot (T400) but it's not that necessary.

i do. if you own it its cool and original, if ur shy with it it becomes weird and cringe. you gotta make what u use based not buy shit others say its based

I got an old T60 to use because I'm poor and follow memes. About two weeks in the sound goes to shit, when it's amplified all the way it sounds like a mouse fart, regardless whether it's through the built in speakers or plugged in headphones. Anyone know what the problem could be and how to fix it? I've been googling it for two days and have tried all the advice but to no avail and I'm really at a loss.

chad energy
but yeh, its true

>phone poster
>follow memes
that aside, your sound card probably went to shit and I assume it soldered on the mobo but check the Repair PDF (download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/42t7844_04.pdf)

Thank ya, that's exactly the think I was looking for.

T480s is literally the perfect thinkpad

only if you enjoy gay sex

but i only enjoy traps and futas
