Sony MA900's, alive and kicking.
what happened to the scarlet bruv
I'm not a SoundCloud edm producer, so I just use a dacamp, not an audio interface.

was the scarlet good? or is what you have now better?
Idol trash here. What's your setup like, user?

Any ZMF there? Or Mr. Speakers?
They had an Ether C but the amp wasn't strong enough. No ZMF.

Redpill on STAX for newbies: STAX is an old Jap company with outdated tech that was considered high end back in the 1960s and 1970s but sounds like ass by today's standards, so they went nearly bankrupt. They were purchased by a Chinese company for just a million dollars who decided to market STAX to the audiophool "more expensive is better" demographic who buys those crappy $3000 vinyl players, they shill heavily on HeadFi and here on /hpg/, plus they pay Zeos to shill their crap.
>In December 2011, Chinese loudspeaker manufacturer Edifier announced the acquisition of 100% equity in Stax
Oratory has measured the highest end STAX, the SR-009S.
dropbox.com
dropbox.com
It's worse than the HD600. HD600 scored 92 and SR-009S scored 76.
Recently Rtings rated STAX across various dimension, it's worse in terms of sound than mid-priced offerings from Hifiman and Audeze, and only got a 7.7 rating.
In a separate study:
>The very highest end STAX ($4000 SR-009) was rated lower in blind tests than a $200 K701

To add insult to overpriced injury, they have shitty plastic build quality that you would expect on cheap chinkshit headphones:
youtube.com
Oratory (respected sound engineer) on the build:
Even best Stax headphones sound objectively worse than mid-fi. This is why they don't demo them in store, they rely on the internet to create a sense of mystique around STAX and shill it as the endgame because its expensive, Asian, rare and obscure. In reality its no bass sounding garbage, with shrill highs that appeal only to near-deaf boomer. STAX is Made in China snakeoil for the audiophool.
Enjoying my Stax and coffee, listening to Johnny Hodges.

Fuck off Edifier marketing intern.

You should look into buying Schiit DAC, high build quality and great measurements, if you can afford it go for multibit version
A topping would be better
Multibit is a meme especially for schiit
Topping DX3 and call it a day.

Currently using a Sony MDR V6, had it for five years, and I really like it.
Also using a Xonar U7 external sound card.
Sound leakage is my main concern.
Wireless would be welcome, but I'd want very little delay.
audio technica a550z or a990z
what the hell
best budget headphone just got better
Tin t2s are on massdrop now if you missed the AliExpress sale and need iems
hey user, what’s on your head right now
I'd probably buy this for the fucking aluminium alone
Been tempted to make a custom headband for my 404s
Reminder that divine creations exist and that STAX is the proof. Get on your knees and worship
ath msr7.
I’m sure they will sell the new headband separately, if it will fit the old housings though?
topping D50
fiio d3 and $280 of booze will give you the best listening experience
Wow a detachable cable and aluminium parts.
It's like the year 2000.

Essentially I'm looking for a pair of headphones to use while I'm exercising at the gym. I'm not too concerned if it's wired or Wireless but I do want decent ish sound quality.
Any recommendations for what I'm looking for?
Pic unrelated
takstar pro 82
Make sure you listen to sad Eurobeat depressionmix
I suggest happy happy idol stuff instead. Like so:
I'm seeing dream theater tonight ;o;
I heard they did the Dr slump movie

Link?
Can anyone recommend headphones that are built like a brick shithouse?
I don't give a racoons arsehole about sound quality, I just want something built to last.
Ruined my first set of headphones by removing them... wtf
Ruined my second set just now by tripping over them while drunk.
Are there any that can survive normal wear and tear?
Jon looks so young uWu
dt 770
>dt 770
Are you sure? They all have a flimsy wire showing in the picture?
just pick these two tubes up from local old tube collector
30$ each
left is new, right is the stock tube from my xduoo ta-20
they sound great but there is some persistant noise in the background
do they just need to break in? or am i stuck with this quiet fuzz
volume doesnt effect it
its all balanced too
they can hum for upto 24 hours if it's genuinely never been used before, takes time to burn in new tubes.
Noise could be one of 50 thousand things when it comes to tubes.
Is good for exercise? Gym? Bike riding?
im not super sure how used they are but they do look pretty new
the buzz is very quiet and cant be heard with anything playing so its not that big of a deal
would playing pink noise through em overnight possibly help break them in and reduce the buzz?
or maybe just reseating the tubes a few times
no music is needed if the tube is actually being used in the circuitry, it just needs to burn in
Are they 12AU7s? I saw someone recommending 12AX7 here recently but those have much higher gain.
It could be many things including just noisy tubes. I have some that are more sensitive to interference. Use well-shielded cables.
clean the pins might help

anyone have the HiBy R3 PMP?
do you recommend it, or any other recommended PMPs at around $150 USD?
some tubes are just noisy, worth it to buy from reputable resellers when buying nos as they can screen tubes for noise and microphonics as well as match a set for you.
shilling brands vs recommending models.

Is there any benefit to a balanced DAC? I have a balanced AMP, what advantage do I get with a balanced connection?

You will only get the full benefits of the balanced amp if you feed it an actual fully balanced signal...lots of cheap and not so cheap gear have xlr outs but are not truly balanced designs.

Anyone have any experience with the Yamaha HPH-50B? Found them for 40 Canadabux and finding anything decent up here under 50$ is a fucking nightmare. Thinking of either these or just eating the shipping on a Sennheiser HD201 from the US

How about the SMSL U8 or M300? Both have two DACs and say they're balanced.
Does the sound change in any way compared to single ended output?
You prolly wanna go the wireless route
