So wait for the 1650 TI?
Holy crap, it's barely better than the 1050 TI.
wait for navi
the fact that they are selling an entry level card for a premium price is just hilarious
the 1650 should have been 120 dollars AT MOST
Basically the base 1650 is overpriced compared to the performance level you'd be getting.
If you're rocking a 1050 TI it would be an insanely small upgrade.
A TI version might be coming and hopefully it will be better.
Should have gotten the 2070 faggot.
It's severely overpriced for what it is.
Unless you desperately need a new card, but would be better to just wait.
Nvidia is a luxury pc hardware company. You don't buy an Nvidia card for the best value - you buy them for the brand name and the sense of security for going with a proven solution.
>release new entry level xx50 card
>It's barely better than the previous generation
>The 1050ti has more mature driver support and could very well outperform right now.
>Over $170
Christ Nvidia, what are you doing?
>sense of secuity for going with a proven solution
breaks in 1 week
This.
It should barely be pushing $120 at most. It's being inflated like all the other current higher end cards right now.
are you fucking braindead? driver updates wont make a gpu 30% faster to compete with its succesor
>>performs worse than the 570 while costing way more
>THANK YOU BASED NVIDIA
just buy it goy
shh. muh optimizations is a fanboy's way to cope with a disappointing product
Any info about a Ti version?
I've been running a old 750ti in a spare extra room computer. If its enough of an upgrade, I'll bite.
the 1660 is the ti version
literally
1660ti and Vega 56 are the only gpus worth buying for 1440p 120hz+
Rest are either too slow or too fast and over priced.
4k isn't a meme but only a 2080ti can do it.
T.2080ti owner
the 1660 ti is a joke
no one should pay mroe than 200 dollars for a 6gb card in 2019
the vega 56 is a way better choice and it beats the shit out of it
I just dropped 1k usd on my 2080ti because I got sick of waiting for amd to pull their head out of their ass.
Vega was terrible on launch and now it's slightly better than midrange pascal wooooohooo it only took them 2 years to fucking catch up.
Spent 500usd on a Vega 56 last year sucked sold it and went back to my 1080 that I paid the same for 3 years ago
Gpus are in a shitty fucking place right now nvidia is competing with itself in the desktop and laptop space while amd farts out another garage gcn fury Vega remake on 7nm
Give me something next gen for fuck sake I hate on rtx and still do (runs like shit for barely any visual upgrade) yet at least it was something new
Navi will probably do ray tracing in software like pascal and turing so it too will be slow as fuck at it... Yaaay
Gonna wait until mid 202x and upgrade then.
Zen 4 and ddr5 will be cheap and 8k vr might be a thing
Navi will be a gpu with the GCN architecture which combines compute and gaming performance into one, so a mediocore rx 580 can do a way better than than a 1080 ti in ray tracing
Nvidia doing ray tracing is nothing new, they just put computing on their gaming cards, something that amd has been doing since 2011 and it has been improving ever since
and im sorry but your 2080 ti will be outdated by the time the high end navi comes out
Good then I'll go get post gcn amd gpus
Don't care about my 2080ti honestly it's underwhelming for the money.
Only a handful of games actually run 4k 100hz minimum and they are insanely well optimised
Just play games and forget about the shitty gpu market situation. Nothing good comes out of being overly invested in the latest in greatest. Come back in 2 years or so and it'll probably blow over by then.
Amd wont stop making gcn gpus because they are superior, look at nvidia for example, they tried to do the same and their power consumption skyrocketed
I wouldn't say sky rocketed but the thermals on my 2080ti oc are insane 300watt peak 2ghz loop 70 degrees + at 100% fans.
Not as bad as my 390x which was like 400+ and blew two psus
Checked
*eyes glaze over*
Also checked
That's what I've been doing since the gpu market went to shit in 201x
Wish I kept my 6970 but it blew up
I haven't ever had a good nvidia card either just so so build quality.
Honestly the days of 200usd midrange gpus and 500usd to tier gaming are long gone (last one I saw I bought and got immediately cucked by 1080 Ti) amd and nvidia got greedy here's hoping incel will shake things up abit
Based
average consumer:
>dude, its a GEEEFORCE!
shame about those drivers....
checked 9/32
Oh wow emulated nintendosoy
That's up to the emu devs. RPCS3 doesn't have this problem, in fact, AMD has fewer bugs on vulkan.
LOL that's incompetent emulator devs, not drivers.
Typical lazy dev excuses lmao.
Its all AMDs fault pls sir do the needful and buy Nvidia.
amds shit drivers are well known. Why else would anyone buy nvidia over amd if they perform worse and are more expensive?
did you ever program something with opengl? no issue on amd, only nvidia is buggy and violates the official specification in multiple places
>their faulty opengl implementation
i'm sure the pajeet dev did something he's not supposed to and expects amd to fix it in driver for them
tell that to john carmack when rage came out and was totally fucking busted on amd and still is to this day
>proven solution
>had two 780s die on me
>had amd cards before and after, no problems whatsoever
Yap
Friendly reminder that compared to the best graphics card they are capable of making upon release of a generation that Turing is a couple hundred percent worse of a purchase than say Maxwell or Kepler were.
Nvidia could produce a card I'm gonna say roughly 250% faster than the Titan RTX and sell it at profit for $700.
7nm, no die space wasted on raytracing, hbm2, unlocked overclocking.
Thats what you should be getting. A titan rtx for $400 and a card dramatically faster for $700.
Do not buy a GPU unless you absolutely need one right now and in that case get something cheap second hand. The market will recover in a few years and whatever you buy today will be far slower in comparison than it should be. As soon as either Intel or AMD make a competent GPU Nvidia responds.
75W while near performance of AYYMD 150W HOUSEFIRES, also will run Feature Level 12_1 games while your AYYMD FL12_0 garbage won't even run modern games that will require FL12_1
STAY MAD, AYYMDPOORFAGS
This thing will be at the top of the Steam GPU charts just like the GTX 1050 Ti and there's nothing you can do about it
Irrelevant. Specific implementation of OpenGL (deprecated for Vulkan since a year or two ago) on an experimental emulator.

TOP KEK
NVIDIA, FASTEST IN GAMING, COMPUTE AND MOST POWER EFFICIENCT 75W GPU
>>performs worse than the 570 while costing way more
Even on OpenGL stuff?
Too bad the majority of the market doesn't care. Look at the 2080ti, people eat that shit up when it is priced like a titan.
Let me know when they drop the 1610 or 1630 and i'll get excited.
If they drop a 1610 I think my boner would split the desk in half.
If games used standard OpenGL AMD will out perform. However if they use GPU vendor specific extensions, then no. nVidia created their own branch of OpenGL extensions for a custom OpenGL.
If the 1650 doesn't require a power cable then that actually kinda does matter especially for prebuilt PC's
Wait... if it takes the AMD card 5% of its ability to reach 35fps and it takes the Nvidia card 61% of its ability to reach 43fps doesn't that mean the AMD card is better?
Imagine if the AMD card was running at 100%, there'd be more frames than you could comprehend.
Under utilization is worse than overutilization.
If I only have to touch my accelerator to hit 35kph and you have to push yours almost two thirds of the way in to reach 61kph then it's a safe bet my car is much fucking faster, nerd.
thats the amd fine wine approach. You have to unlock the power over time.
stay strong user. Intel has the resources to compete and AMD will after picking up some more profit from Zen.
>nvidia
>compute
>75w
stop lying to yourself you fucking shill
nintendo onions
>emulation
AMD is not at fault that the emulators are coded with only Nvidia cards in mind
And what did I say? The emulator fags coded them with Nvidia cards in minds retard, of course there would be crashes on an amd card
Waiting for the 3070 because the 2070 isn't enough of an upgrade from my 970 and all the -80 cards are too expensive for my liking.
rage isn't an emulator?
thank you leather jacket man jensen huang
wait you can emulate Persona? Link me this stuff pls
this. unless the developers pinpoint the bug and find out something in opengl or glsl that doesn't work properly, according to the specification, they can't blame amd.
to give an example, i once forgot to initialize a variable in a shader, in which case the results are undetermined. amd's implementation defaulted to 0, so it worked. nvidia's implementation didn't do any initialization, so it was flickering. that doesn't mean it's nvidia's fault.
>Oy vey, support my leather jacket collection, goyim!
youtube.com
WTF even Nvidia Unboxed is shitting on it!
What's wrong with rx580? Can get it for less than 200 and some people been saying you can get vega56 for 200 or something. 580 alone is midrange if not higher.
so john carmack, the god of opengl, was responsible for rage shitting the bed on amd?
>300watt
RX 480 owner here. Pic related
Also my old 1080Ti ran at 120% PWR Target = 300Watts with reference cooler and 60% fan speed. Dunno why you are complaining.
>Friendly reminder that compared to the best graphics card they are capable of making upon release of a generation that Turing is a couple hundred percent worse of a purchase than say Maxwell or Kepler were.
As a owner of a top end turning 2080ti at 2ghz I absolutely agree
>Nvidia could produce a card I'm gonna say roughly 250% faster than the Titan RTX and sell it at profit for $700.
This isn't happening in a decade lol gpu progress has ground to a halt.
Turing was in the works for a decade as was rtx they are not going to dump it or anything newer any time soon
>7nm, no die space wasted on raytracing, hbm2, unlocked overclocking.
Hbm2 is 300usd+ for 16gb so no way in fuck would we get your mythical 700usd 250% titan rtx
>Thats what you should be getting. A titan rtx for $400 and a card dramatically faster for $700.
If this was 2016 I'd agree but gpu progress has stalled since cuda and gcn where throwing bigger dies and more cores at the problem + die shrinks don't help.
The issue is with apis not hardware
Vulkan is the only one I've seen that scales properly.
Dx12 is useless even more so than 11 because almost every implementation is broken and loses performance over 11/vulkan hence why Ms has silently dropped it and backported it to 7
>Do not buy a GPU unless you absolutely need one right now and in that case get something cheap second hand. The market will recover in a few years and whatever you buy today will be far slower in comparison than it should be. As soon as either Intel or AMD make a competent GPU Nvidia responds.
Horse shit I wanted to taste 4k so I got one and a new screen sto being a faggot and shitting on those of us who have ascended to 4k 100hz+
user has a point gcn is garbage at most dx12 titles these days that small window from 2015-2018 is gone
Because the 570 exists used for half that
Noice.
Luckily my 2080ti doesn't max out as I cap fps at 100 at 4k
Damn fast card I looked at the utilisation in wolf 2 and forza 7 and it never went above 60%
Holy shit I mean imagine if all the games where this well made we'd be running 4k 144hz+ on everything
Future is bright for games designed from the ground up for highly parralel compute heavy async gpus.
Radeon 7 and next gen are gonna crush desu
It has stalled for no reason other than lack of competition.
$700 is still do able for a die the size of the titan rtx with 16gb hbm2.
hint: amd is doing it right now and their volume is miniscule in comparison
When can I buy an AMD® Navi® JustWait™?
Yeah and amd took a massive loss on every consumer Vega/fury ever sold mate.
Gddr6 isn't the issue it's fucking games that are the issue.
Imagine if every game was well optimised like back in the 90s?
But nope instead I get 30fps in ubishit asscreeed odessy cryshit engine kcd because of draw call limitations and shit memory management
Xbox two xxx
I'm sorry but when are those coming out again
>2020+
Oh well I'll go back to getting amazing 4k gaming experience at 100fps because I channelled by autism and need bucks into a decent gpu
Enjoy waiting desu.
I've been waiting on gcn shit for 8 years it wasn't worth it every time something new came out it was inferior in some way especially Vega/fury which is the exact same shit.
Niche outliers be damned I go nvidia for stable performance.
Before you call me a shill I fucking hate Intel and rtx
That's Windows OpenGL. Linux mesa driver get 5-20fps boost on Cemu and Yuzu.
>900 series
>1000 series
>2000 series
>1600 series
are the 1600 series leftover stock that was re-branded?
Who cares who gets the blame? Your end-user experience still worse off going with amd garbage.
Oh i'm sorry, i didn't know AMD was in the chat.
We're not blaming you just informing other consumers that they'll want nvidia if they plan to emulate.
Dont know
But what i do know is that the whole turing lineup is a joke and a huge scam that only nvidia sheeps fall for
Emulating nintendo onions games? jesus
GDDR6 isn't an issue in general and the majority of cards would do well with it.
It is an issue when it's not present on a $1300 card or even a $800 one.
"massive loss" is an exaggeration.
Nvidia is as anti consumer as possible and making the absolute most amount of money possible, which to be fair is totally okay for a business to do.
But when that looks like a $1300 card that is dramatically slower than it should be with a locked bios, locked voltage, locked power limit, frequency wall enforced by nvapi when temp is >0c, doesn't want to work if it detects its in a VM, well then yeah I don't think people should buy their shit unless money in the 1k range means nothing to them.
Right now I would prefer a radeon vii to a titan rtx and a 980ti to a 1080ti because they do not behave like an iPhone and will do what I tell them to do which is like the basis of computing.
IF and it's a big IF we see a healthy GPU market in the next 3 years cards will be 3, 4x faster than turing for far less money.
I've actually been without a GPU since my 980ti died in november because I have a gsync monitor and dont really wanna buy another used 980ti for the same price i paid in early 2017.
>sense of security for going with a proven solution.
i cant believe people actually talk about this absolute fucking garbage OCd 1050ti
are nvtards that desperate for attention
But it doesn't need a 6-pin. It's effectively the best card you can stick into a prebuilt without one.
>buying prebuilt
>not getting 2400G
back to red***
If you pick up used Optiplexes and the like, they carry immensely more value than buying new in terms of performance. If you're okay with buying used.
This would be the best office PC gaming card, like the 1050ti was.
