did you know that all i9 9900k processors can be OC'd to 5200Mhz? So what's your excuse for still running a sub-5GHz processor?

Not everyone wants a nuclear reactor in their home

Waiting for something that overclocks higher to buy a better one. Currently using a 1.4Ghz processor.

That's not prime avx stable

how about occt?

lmao my AMD processor runs at 5.8 since 2013

How much it can last before burning?

your VRMs degrade super fast tho because of how much voltage you're pushing

get a gayming mobo with high end ones then

I already assume that you're using one because a budget board won't even get close to 5ghz. you're still going to degrade the fuck out of your VRMs.

why? the stock turbo clock is 5ghz. that's only a 200mhz overclock

7700k delidlake @5GHz + NH-D15 owner here. I'd say lack of cooling is the main excuse op. see pic related for the needful.

stock 5ghz turbo is on two cores only, the rest parked with their clock generators off and caches flushed

kek what the fuck happened there

my haslel has been running at 4.5Ghz since i bought it (5 years ago). is degredation even a thing?

>As of 3/16/19, the top 11% of tested 9700Ks were able to hit 5.2GHz or greater.

lol

Nice cherrypicked review samples.

in OP pic it says 'on all cores'

Which is the overclock and not the factory boost, moron redditor child

en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/core_i9/i9-9900k#Frequencies

apply 'decent' cooling, overclock CPU to fuck you numbers, suddenly remove cooling, temps rise too fast to throttle, CPU go yeet

But a lot of Jow Forums uses radeon GPUs

I really don't have any use for 5GHz. Like what am I really going to use that for? All I do is remote database dev and some C++ for work, and browse the Internet in my free time. I could get by with a pentium D if I really wanted.

ghzlet reporting here. I got a pretty bad chip that needs 1.37v for semi-stable small fft avx at 5ghz

I don't have the particulars board to support it nor the shekels to buy it

>can pulls over 200w stock
>need a fucking industrial chiller to cool it or it throttles like mad
lol

>tfw have i9 900k
>tfw it's unstable at 4.9Ghz even with liquid cooling
>every tech youtuber is bragging about their 5.0Ghz+ 9900k
>mfw tech youtubers who jumped on the influencer bandwagon are better at building PCs than me
>mfw I've been building PCs since 2002
this is the price I pay for my hubris

that means you couldn't even OC your cores an average of 100mhz more according to this

en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/core_i9/i9-9900k#Frequencies

i.e. 4900-((4.7+4.7+4.8+5)/4)
