Trolls shill that shit here, but nobody actually uses it.
I used to be in the same boat until I realized most MODERN trim support is done on the hardware level and handled by the drive.
epic trolle op
Hardware trim is useless if the OS doesn't issue trim commands when you delete files, or periodically go over the drive and trim all unused space.
I didn't know that, but I still don't use any *BSD because it's a goddamn meme.
Just think how bad openbsd would be on a qlc ssd
Did you just expect the hardware to understand the on-disk format of every filesystem out there, and parse it to figure out what sectors are in use?
what the fuck is a trim?
Oh well
Sure thing bud
A standard SCSI/ATA feature allowing SSDs to identify what sectors actually hold important data, so they can garbage collect more efficiently and improve performance and lifespan.
yes
>no hardware support
why does an OS so based support such little modern hardware? Linux would literally be irrelevant if the BSDs had the same level of support
You have 10 seconds to explain why you not using OpenBSD 6.5
Linux had BSD tier hardware support not all that long ago
Fedora Linux exists

TRIM exposes which blocks are unused in dm-crypt: asalor.blogspot.com
Also, TRIM degrades SSDs. Therefore, disable TRIM.
