Want help?
>State the budget & CURRENCY
>List your uses e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors include purpose & graphics pairing
>NO Speccy or "bottleneck checkers"

CPUs based on current pricing:
>Avoid AMD if you plan to do exclusively gaming
>Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS)
>i5 9400F - Recommended minimum gaming
>i5 9600/K - Great gaming or multithreaded use CPUs
>i7 9700K - Extreme solution for absolute max FPS
>i9 9900K - VM Work / Streaming / Video editing

RAM
>NEVER use only a single stick
>8GB - very light use, and/or if you don't mind closing programs regularly
>16GB - standard amount. If you have to ask if you need more, you don't
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2800MHz+ is ideal. Check "more" for true latency formula

Graphics cards based on current pricing:
>Used cards can be had for a steal; inquire about warranty
1080p
>RX 570/580 - value.
>1660 - Slightly better perf for more demanding games on high/maxed 60fps+;
> 1660Ti / 1070 / Vega56 / 2060 - higher framerates
1440p (WQHD)
>1070Ti / Vega / 2070 - 60-120fps+ in most games on high/maxed
>RTX 2080 / 2080Ti - higher framerates
>Radeon VII - may be considered; needs cooler mod to run quiet
2160p (4k)
>RTX 2080 - upscale or lower settings
>RTX 2080 Ti, if you are not poor.

Other
>Consider a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & HDD
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard
>Consider 75hz display minimum; 60hz are old models
>PLAN BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
>AIOs don't change the laws of thermodynamics

When is the next line of graphics cards expected to release? nvidia or amd

Should I buy a radeon VII or a 2080? Which will have better longevity, which is more likely to yield higher fps in 4k?

Is there any way to repair a video card once it’s been damaged? We had one at work get banged in a move, it still works but only one fan spins and it always is at full speed. The card was bent. Can we do anything with it? Will it break?

Can I get a real response to this post?

How’s this for $500?

hot garbage. for 500 you can get a brand new OptiPlex with more powerful hardware

No one knows. AMD is estimated to be around the middle to end of this year. Nvidia is in 1.5ish years or when 7nm is cheaper than huge dies on 12nm, whatever happens first.

that's a good deal for ram. you could try searching for 2100 MHz ram without the fancy heatsinks if you want to save some money

I'm looking for tighter ram timings because I'm going to be getting a 3700x from my 2600x for gaming and general workload I do on my computer.

Why a 2100mhz though?

It's meh.
Better deals are rare but it's also a dead end system.

I meant to write 2133. it'll be cheaper. otherwise there's no real reason

Maybe on Intel but Ryzen will do much better on faster ram timings and clock speeds.

It's a meme

Just a friendly reminder to ignore the absolutely deranged intard posters.

Why I never see recommendations for speakers in this general?

Delusional

Yikes
Imagine being such a psycopath

cringe

>cringe
we say yikes now

For real though he kinda has a point, these generals have become battlegrounds for brand name whoring from both sides and now the threads have nothing to do with playing bibeo gays. Days like this I wish moot was back.

reminder to ignore all intel shills

come a few months time there will be no reason to ever buy intel cpus, and even now a lot of mental gymnastics are required to justify purchasing 9-series

What should I do

I kind of want to upgrade my GPU but my current monitors dont have display ports or hdmi, so I figured I would upgrade to something bigger like Acer XG270HU because its 1440p and I wont need 2 monitors

Would a 1070 good enough?

feel free to go back

ok good i like this pcbg better
why do people like amd? even something as simple as cooler installation just feels cheap

then again probably the people who like and use amd are the fags who drive camrys because "its just a car bro" or fuck uggos because "pussy's pussy bro"

ryzen has been offering good performance at good price points while intel has been rather expensive for what it is for some time already, also the security issues
t. 7600k user who's going to stick with intel for the time being

>mid 2000s
>hardware becomes high TDP
>cases eventually start going for maximum fan space and airflow
>today
>hardware is still high TDP
>but 90% even of high end cases have a solid front nowadays, in some cases even a solid top, and only thin ventilation slots on the sides
Why the FUCK is case development going BACKWARDS?

I feel like upgrading my PC but I don't know what parts to focus on first.
I have
>Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
>Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
>NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770

Can't remember the name for my PSU or Motherboard and I'm using a Sony TV 42" right now. I don't know where to begin, I want to do it more for Gaming and possibly testing streaming out but unsure.

I did find out the motherboard which I think is asustek h81m-PLUS

Samsung SSDs still good? Want to get more modern 1tb one. sata 3 as well, don't think I can do m2.

You're supposed to water cool? I am guessing, I think water is a meme but I am amazed at the number of underage retards who manage to pull off a water cooling setup

Sup /pcbg/, I'm a britbong uni student currently studying Intelligent Systems. I've been using prebuilt desktops and second hand ThinkPads for pretty much my whole life and I want to have a go at a Mini-ITX build for my third year of university as I've found my current laptop (T420) can't handle my uni course too well. I've done a bit of research into the build I want but I would love some feedback on it.
