Same shit you did with your Windows/OSX machine

>fall into linux meme
>install basedbuntu
>laptop battery drains extremely fast
>constant fan noises
>mingle with thinkfan, mingle power management tools, try to learn how to automaticall star them
>applelike shitty interface
>fuckthis

I installed windows 7 and become a good goy, never been much happier.
Do not fall for the linux meme.

Install Windows 7
Based

Install KDE

>waaaaaaah linux is too hard!
I want IQlets to go.

Install Windows 10 Enterprise

Install Windows 95

Fund ReactOS

It is not hard, it is just tiresome
The ability to configure and tweak your stuff is great.
But the need to configure and tweak your fan and your battery because they overheat/drainfast is bullshit.
Also muh games

Castrate yourself.

Install arch

>I installed Ubuntu. What now?

Now go install Windows 10 over this partition and enjoy usability.

2019: Power management is still garbage in Linux.

>sudo apt install tlp

You use a Mac don't you?

this

No I don't, I found ubuntu to be more maclike to be honest with you.
I installed mint before switching to windows 7, for the more windosy look but battery and fan was still a problem
Now I'm on win7
>no fan problem
>no battery problem
>the feeling of pride to help our boys in nsa

funny enough it was a bit more tedious to install win7.

>google how to kill yourself
>write down instructions
>uninstall ubuntu
>kill yourself

On second thought, you might want a better OS for the google part.

tpbp

>Install Ubuntu
>The most prominent thing you see after installing it is the word "trash" and a trashcan icon

Never change, Loonix distros.

This.

I would start ricing it out desu. Install gnome-tweak-tool or whatever it's called and find what works for you. It's also a nice way to get used to using linux.

When I started, the first things I did included downloading chrome and my IDEs. Then I started ricing. What do I use now? I use i3 on top of Ubuntu, and now I can never use a traditional desktop again.

Yeah install tlp

Hate Gnome and install Xubuntu, Kubuntu or Ubuntu Mate

Now all you need to do is browse the great selection of software available on Ubuntu. Check your repositories by running "sudo apt-cache search app" where app is the name of the application you would like yo find. You can also install applications using snaps, flatpaks and appimages. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages. Also, play with some of the available desktop enviroments such as budgie, mate, kde, xfce, cinnamon, etc. I would also recommend you to learn some of the most basic commands to navigate through the terminal. Best of luck homie.

Literally just install tlp and powetop. Straight from the official repo. Fuck off retard

Tweak it for xtra performance

sudo xed /etc/sysctl.conf

# Reduce the swap tendency
vm.swappiness = 10
vm.vfs_cache_pressure = 50
vm.watermark_scale_factor = 200
vm.dirty_ratio = 3

Why are you using sudo to search
0/10

No sorry I prefer manly OS like windows where I can play my manly games.

all new GNU/linux users do that for some reason

based

now spend the rest of your life furiously googling to complete the most basic of tasks lol

Damn. How dumb are you?

Of course you're gonna google some shit if you just switched to Ubuntu, or any other Linux distro.
>Implying you don't also do this on Windows or MacOS

You might want to try typing:
>apt search app
No need for sudo even. You can thank me later.

Uninstall Gnome.

Put in your buttplug

using gtk? what DE / file manager do you use
>> hows that keyboard customization? better than karabiner / Auto Hot Key?
>Yes
no youre lying. i specialize in this shit. your xmodmap and xdotools is not better than what karabiner or auto hot key offer. show me your stack equivalent in this case

stackoverflow.com/questions/3961859/how-to-copy-to-clipboard-in-vim how easy is that who has time to do that for one little stupid thing that should just work?

>> hows that nvidia driver / compton screen tear issue? all fixed?
>Yes
out of the box amirite

Not him but I have set keyboard shortcuts for many things in KDE, what are you trying to customize? The layout?
>file picker
That works in KDE too
>copy paste in vim
I didn't know this is some big issue since I've only ever opened vim through terminal window and I can just use my terminal shortcut to paste there
>nvidia
Stop using nvidia

fap

we know that picture is fake because the woman is not a 10 years old boy

Why are you talking like Strong Bad

idk KDE fixed the clipboard issue for me
using termite I get to pick between both the regular middle mouse click clipboard buffer and the ctrl+shift+v one.

Buy a Mac.

Install Unity

Why do most guides suggest using Sudo for search?

faggot

pajeets

How do I get Ubuntu's font rendering on any other distro?

fuck off I got better battery life than I used with Winblows
Just remove everything, install i3 and live the dream.

>im so autistic that I only feel safe using windows 7

nice job user, i3 is great
having everything configured to your liking is GOAT

If you're asking this after installing Linux, you installed Linux for the wrong reasons. It's an operating system, you dingus, just fucking use it.

There's literally no reason to use Ubuntu with a Desktop environment over Windows, it's just worst in every aspect. Now, installing a window manager and ricing shit, that's where the actual fun with Linux begins.

>Not him but I have set keyboard shortcuts for many things in KDE, what are you trying to customize? The layout?

dual role keys
if i press shift it functions as escape, but if i hold down its regular shift button
same thing with space -> ctrl

NPCs.

Uninstall and install Xubuntu, Ubuntu MATE or Mint instead. Gnome is fucking retarded and KDE is more bugs than code at this point.
Learn how to use Synaptic and apt to install things (programs, packages, etc).
Use tlp if you're a notebook user for enhanced battery life.
Use wine for those programs and games for which you have no GNU/Linux counterpart. The exceptions for this may be Photoshop and MSOffice - LibreOffice is fully functional yet it's just not the same.

Install Kubuntu

>he doesn't know about two post best post

>ubuntu thread
Thanks, i talked with my teacher about which distro learn to use, he told me ubuntu since its easy.
I decided to follow his advice since i heard ubuntu is useful for getting a job.
Anyway, any tips on setting a ubuntu to boot from my usb?
Also, is there any way to make the live usb keep state?

neovim copy to system clipboard (both of them, rightclick paste and middle click paste) werks out of the box with no fuckery. vim is depreciated
yeah drivers work great on my switchable graphics amd discrete/intel integrated laptop. the gpu is actually treated in hardware as a graphics accelerator (like all laptops) and you just launch programs with a variable set and you can play your gaymes and its all done for you fucking out of the box on fedora 29
> fuck you nvidia
its even configured to support kvm out of the box without any fuckery
welcome to 2010+9

Honestly? It's a solid choice except for the fact that I can see at least 23 pings to Amazon servers from my laptop every minute and that the taskbar looks like absolute shit. At least it can detect the drivers and run smoothly.

All the other Ubuntu flavours suck( as in don't detect drivers, poor scaling and performance issues, and KDE crashes all the friggin' time for god knows what reason). Fedora doesn't have that much online support for hardware and installation based issues and don't even start with gentoo shilling with me.

Ubuntu is solid and just werks. Deal with it.

udu
i do agree that linux needs to fix its battery life problem.

install ubuntu server 19.04 idiots battery life is amazing customise your own ui and have good support for gaymes

its almost like linux has a bunch of documention all over the web wiki ubuntu com/LiveUsbPendrivePersistent

delete it and install gentoo

>making things overly complicated is high IQ!

Now install Unity because GNOME sucks.

Why'd you install 18.04 when 19.04 is out?

>
>using swap

I know it's heresy on Jow Forums, but people who want to use their PCs for something other than testing operating systems might want the LTS release.

but now with extra freedom

But Linux isn't complicated you mong.

it's not, it's just badly made

install Gentoo

I thought x.10 were the short life versions and x.04 were LTS, but I was wrong.
I wouldn't call them test versions, though. I've never had a problem related
