2. Does video calls
3. Has to fucking work

Jami is the closest brainlet proof alternative jami.net/

3. Has to fucking work

I have seen people shilling for Rocket.chat lately on Jow Forums. I don't know how it works because I haven't tried it myself.

Riot.im

It works, tard.

Discord has video chat and sharing.

I use Telegram video chat just for that to video porn with some user thot somewhere.

Wire is literally made by the original Skype devs. It's not an autistically Jow Forums tier "muh decentralised distributed FOSS NSA-proof" type thing, but it is FOSS (mainly, some builds include proprietary A/V components), it's fully encrypted, and it just werks(tm) and is fully normie friendly.
Believe me, I'd only use Tox if I could help it, but a chat service needs two people to be used and it does zero good if I have Tox, Ring, a self-hosted Matrix instance, and a self-hosted XMPP server with all encryption/privacy extensions all set up, but all my friends and family only use Skype and WhatsApp. So I ended up settling on Wire as a "good enough" alternative.

By the way, they're funding themselves with their "pro" version, which means that they don't even have a financial obligation to try to collect your data. Any other alternative is either gonna be made by volunteers, or is gonna be proprietary, data-collection botnet like Discord.

It has video chat now? Is it any good?

Wire is actually ok but it had laggy video calls from my experience. Also, the desktop version is shit.

Still the problem is that most people wouldn't use anything like that. Communication platform is kinda useless if no one uses it.

Bretty good if you need to use it for work. Also allows videoconferences, screen sharing and remote control.

This is a non-issue because Skype was abandoned by almost everyone almost a decade ago.

Still your grandma uses skype and everyone else uses discord.

My parents and grandparents don't have or use a computer.
The last people I know that used Skype were a few of my friends at school over 10 years ago and they moved to Facebook the moment it started getting popular and then moved to Viber and WhatsApp.
Discord hype is already over and almost nobody older than 30 uses it.

What do people over 30 use then?

Do you not read? Facebook messenger, WhatsApp, Viber, Wire, Signal, Line. They usually have 2+ of these installed. Depends on your social group.

yeah it really is the best video calling i can think of these days

I guess you should use those then.

Extremely good. The data is streamed to NSA servers flawlessy and sometimes it even reach your buddy .

Discord fits all those.
