Same, first thing I did ,when I realized it was every firefox user and not myself, was start looking for a new browser to use

xpinstall.signatures.required in about:config set that to false, fixed it for me.

Then that's just sad.
I remember back in the day when Firefox was getting ready to launch quantum and the chrome shills went out with full force against it. I also jumped on the bandwagon, and even though they would never get me to touch chrome with a ten foot pole, I was still ready to go "FF52 ESR 4lyfe" thanks to all the FUD.
Anyway, eventually quantum released and I decided to see how bad it really was. And dayum that thing was fast.
I'm using comfy nightly 68 now and it's just great.

This is my concern, too. Safety is important, but this is more than absurd.
Because of normalfags and people who believe anything is fine for cash making as long as you don't get sued, creating a browser now takes about half the effort it takes to create a fully featured operating system. Maybe even more after you factor in security. People who gravitate to the fastest, or the "fastest" browser, sabotage and schemers all make it even worse.
