AMD and Nvidia has objectively more stable drivers of Linux, than for Windows. >Windows has the best software: Foobar2000, KeePass 2, Adobe Suite, MS Office MS Office is pure shit after Office 2003. Have you used MS office? It don even compare to libre office.

Meh, even after excluding games, these shits are far superior to the crapware the free alternatives are. And how can you even mention drivers with that limp dick of a driver support linux has. Linux is good for specific tasks and a facebook machine which most of the users are using it here for.
Asher Hill
imagine needing to install drivers
Jackson Perez
The only one that has any substance is foobar2000, which has no equal in linux
Asher Ross
>AMD and Nvidia has objectively more stable drivers of Linux, than for Windows. lmao what, Nvidia drivers for Linux are garbage with tons of performance loss compared to Windows and AMD drivers are straight up broken, with Vulkan being one of the worst offenders. The only stable graphics drivers for Linux are from Intel.

Windows ships debug symbols for all OS components. If you can read assembly, then it's trivial to study and create your own patches for the kernel. Much easier than trawling through a massive C code base and spending hours recompiling.
Jacob Gonzalez
>amd drivers are straight up broken based retard
Robert Bailey
Foobar is pretty good, better than any comparable freetard software, and you CAN use it on Linux.
Cameron Price
With Windows 10 you really don't have to anymore Last 3 machines I've installed Win10 on never needed an additional driver Hell even my Thinkpad was given the proper UltraNav utilities for adjusting the trackpoint/trackpad
Jackson Hernandez
That is not a reason. Everything after MS Office 2003 is garbage. Ribbon UI is trash. LibreOffice is better, since it has multiple options of UI, and recent versions have decent compatibility with docx and doc. At least they are stable. Performance loss is unknown, since most compare FPS in games, which don't run good under Wine. >Intel No. It is the worst actually, since it can't prevent screen tearing on XFCE, while AMD and nvidia don't have this problem.
Adrian Baker
That's fair, I've had similar experiences myself. It's really just the rest of Windows that sucks anymore.
Luke Rivera
>Foobar2000, KeePass 2, Adobe Suite, MS Office All garbage >GTA V, Crysis, Red Dead Redemption All garbage >Nvidia Uses identical drivers on linux and windows >AMD Open source drivers will always be better >Wi-Fi Every relevant brand is supported. You have to be the unlucky idiot who uses something other than Intel, dlink, tplink, ZTE/other chink brands for your WiFi to not work. Only broadcom won't work and they're getting less relevant every day.

Redpill me on MPD. What's so good about it? How does it work? Can I select albums by how they're in the filesystem?
Carson Young
Nice try mac faggot. You're using Windows fan boys as a proxy to attack Linux neckbeards and appropriate satania so you stop getting BTFO.
>What's so good about it? Dead simple and just works in my experience. Plain text configuration is also a plus.
>How does it work? It's a client/server model. MPD itself manages your playlists and library and is responsible for actual playing. You connect to it with a client (Whether you want something GUI-based (e.g Cantata or Sonata) or a terminal-based solution (e.g ncmpcpp) to issue commands, manipulate the current playlist, and whatever else.
You can also expose it to the network (or the internet directly if you're running it off a server and comfortable doing so) and connect to it from other computers or a phone. >Can I select albums by how they're in the filesystem? I've tried a few clients and all of them supported this. Sonata (GTK) and Cantata (Qt) are the most full-featured/developed GUI clients as far as I can recall, and I believe ncmpcpp is the go-to TUI client. Any of those should be perfectly fine for what you need.
Luis Butler
pretty good actually. it just werks and is plenty fast. i tried ubluntu but there are many nitpicky things that made me switch back to windows

linux is for neckbeard faggots that don't want to get caught jacking off to anime.
>implying I want to use linux If I could I'd use some OS that let me do everything on one OS and had all the software. But sadly windows is SHIT for programming (unless you're using.net) and macOS is hardcore bundled with garbage hardware.

To learn something new. I'm a bio major but I think I need to know some of the stuff that has to do with computer science, and I've fallen in love with education since I realized that you need it (or ENORMOUS luck) to truly thrive in this country (the United States). I learned to dualboot which isn't hard and I also have a leftover laptop from 2013 that I still use for Arch. Of course I can play games, or fuck around in Adobe Illustrator and whatnot, but when I want to learn I go right back to a distro.
Congrats on completing your Jow Forums buzzword SEO course, I'd send you your certificate but you're never going to be employed anyway so what's the point

AMDs open source drivers (muh blobs fags GTFO) are known to perform as well or better in some cases than its full prop driver.

No you can't. Foobar is ironically Foobar on wine I love MPD but is there a way you can set up streaming? Like play the music on the client? On another computer, not using it as a remote?
Xavier Brooks
Open source alts to Ms office don't even compare when it comes to actual usage. Its like using MS paint over Photoshop.
