Which Internet era had more soul?

Which Internet era had more soul?

Web 1.0: 1991-2005
Web 2.0: 2005-2013
Web 3.0: 2013-present

You have to remember the internet took longer to change back in the 1.0/dial up days. Heck, even though the world wide web started in 1991, many people didn't even have it till like four years later.

Web 40%: Brave

Web 1.0 didn't even really exist until after Netscape Navigator and IE...

i would say in the transition between 1&2 era

1998-2005

Obviously the web 2.0 era

05 - 13 because I'm a zoomer.

Current web is too bloated and has too many feelings being hurt.

1.0 were and still are nice.
2.0 was peak fun on the web
3.0 is death.
4.0 is cable tv.

2.0. Now the real question is how do we make a new network that can surpass the internet as a whole?

>got memed into believing web 4.0 is where everything is blockchain-based

And how much potential generated content was CENSORED?

I'm a tail end boomer/Elder Zoomer so 2004-2009 is the mysterious legendary era of web to me back when websites deleted your messages and shit over time and middle school me forgot half my logins to all those old sites like Gaia Online.
It's also when I heard about Jow Forums but that one kid who went to /b/ hyped it up like your computer would get AIDS and then mean people online would find your address and call you stupid, so I never actually posted and only popped in once or twice to see what was going down. If only I'd heard about Bitcoin during one of those visits kek.

>2005
>be 15 watching porn vids on 54kb dial up
>2019
>internet throttled to 128kbps
>literally can’t even load a text-centric web page

Zeronet is a cool concept but it doesn't have many good sites

Shit thread. Shit definition.

With web 2.0 everything went to shit and only zoomers would glorify it

kys faggot

WTF is web 3.0?

Pre-2007

Why is this chart ass fucking backwards? Nowadays everything is what I would consider "published content", whereas in the late 90s and early 2000s it seemed to me that almost all websites out there were just small labors of love. Maybe I just didn't bother going to any of the corporate websites so I didn't notice.

>he thinks the masses spouting their individual bullshit on twitter, r*ddit, youtube count as "published content"

Nonono he's a FIGURATIVE nigger you see?

At least we can all relive it through archive.org and pretend it's still the 90s.

They'd have accomplished doing what they do best: Spreading cancer, and irrepairably warping the things we love into being a useless appendage of their propaganda machine

Thats because thats when we ditched dial up for something speedy and convenient.

Internet 1.0: 1980s
The web was the cancer that destroyed the internet.

We are web 3.0 already

And?

1.0 by your numbering scheme, but I'd break it down a bit more.

1991-1995: early, not very commercial web.
1995-2000: corporations have sites, but people make personal websites.
2000-2005: still kind of early, but sites now basically look and work like they do today, if not better, provided some fucker hasn't made every image on the page a flash file or something. people use forums, but the forum structure is still decentralised
2005-2010: increasing but manageable commercialisation and centralisation of forums
2010-2013: weird transition period, rapid decline in the number of independent forums and fanbases, slow move to reddit.
2013-2016: memes on TV, high influence of twitter and peak of reddit. early signs of corporate 'brand twitter' etc.
2016+ fully commercialised hell with occasional sparks of optimistic loathing from the bed we've made flickering through the woke brands offering us depressionburgers.

2.0

during the time of the Brian Peppers memes.

quick move to reddit. i hate that shit. although moreso i hate discord spammers. i dont get these people
