I had a problem with vlc once, to watch the old berserk anime. mpc fixed that.

VLC is fine, but it is like bringing a Swiss army knife in place of a box cutter for opening boxes. mpv is fucking light while also supporting better scaling algorithms than VLC, so I prefer it as a way to just watch things.

MPV is good for linux, but if you install it on windows you will always have to download updates manually
