I use Atom because it's the only FOSS thing I can use on windows.
Need to wait until August to get off windows...
I think not. But there is a workaround on tachiyomi's github. Still can't update/download most of the time tho.

As the king of Jow Forums I declare that emacs is the most based and redpilled editor:
Emacs but if that’s not available, nano

no it's fucking not, get rid of that paneer electron shit bro, get vim, emacs, or if u aren't big brained just use notepad++. Plenty of options.
why not just use vim or emacs?
based king
you don't need pycharm for python, just try using vim. Also, VSCode is electron bloat. Do you have any recommendations for other environments for C++?
MATlab's live/script editor.

Unironically Emacs.
Yes, I know. But I know Emacs Lisp, so I customized and tweaked it, and now it's super comfy.
some IDE usually, i've started with eclipse at a very young age so it's really hard to even imagine using anything in the CLI. i keep hearing about CLI tools being punishingly difficult to get into, is it worth it in the end? what are some core differences in the coding/build/deployment process between CLI and visual IDEs?
Used brackets, atom ... now vscode
pussy, i just parse Jow Forums's JSON via a script I wrote and pipe that shit straight to less(it also differentiates between posters based on a hash made from post number)
Emacs with my own config
I've grown up with the command line. It's not too difficult because everything is docmented, and you can get at the documentation through the command line. However as projects grow in complexity, you start to use tools, like make for example. In the end, it's looking up the options in one or two configuration files vs. knowing where to set them in what menu, what submenu, what subsubmenu, what tab in your IDE. In a way, looking into config files is easier than googling where the hell you set what option in your IDE.
I've used both, and both have their advantages and drawbacks. Just wait until you have to work on a remote server and you'll see the command line isn't obsolete yet.
I use vscode because I am a Backend Developer and work from my Mac.
.
This is sadly true. I'm too lazy and stupid to learn vim... But I will try, I guess.
