Desperately needs a new android build. Video quality/scaling/blocking looks like complete shit compared to vlc. Can't even use mpv on my tablet as any text on the video itself looks like total shit but fine in vlc.

You can try some faster settings with auto-profiles. For example, leaving cscale at default, as it is less noticeable, and using Lanczos, which is slightly faster than spline36. That's what I did on my laptop. Hardware decoder is a must.

anyone know whats causing my monitor to blink black lines with mpv? It's only exclusively mpv that it does this with. Whenever I mess with forwarding, adjusting the volume, the top part of the screen blinks a quick black line.
I tried other video players and they worked fine, but with mpv, it always casts a black line on the top.

I just think the shill does not know how to talk about the software he likes and resorts to constant spam. I went from shinchiros build to stax and works great. The only thing I don't like is the new icon, but that is just a minor issue.

Try this video config. The lines below must be pasted on the mpv.conf file.

I tried and it worked pretty good with temps going up to 60ºC it's much better to download videos with youtube-dl then watch in mpv than do it through youtube's site, latter way temps goes up to 75ºC thank you, user

I have some questions,
I have my display calibrated with a Spyder3Elite (Old, may be the root of the issue) and DisplayCAL, I have DisplayCAL Profile Loader managing my profile for me with my icc profile "ULTRAWIDE #1 2019-04-14 06-28 0.3127x 0.329y sRGB M-S AM.icm"
Windows by default uses "sRGB Color Space Profile.icm" for it's profile and that is the one that was active when calibrating.
In MPV and in Chrome with HW acceleration ON the colors are wrong, blacks seem "raised" when using this image from Lagom. icc-profile="~~/ULTRAWIDE #1 2019-04-14 06-28 0.3127x 0.329y sRGB M-S AM.icm" 0 blacks are still 0 blacks, but 1=4 2=7 3=11 4=14 5=18 and so on, but at the same time movies and whatnot actually seem to have "better" colors to my eyes.
When I have this profile set in MPV and HW Acceleration OFF in Chrome they correctly match 0=0 1=1 2=2 3=3 4=4 5=5 icc-profile="~~/sRGB Color Space Profile.icm"
What is going on here are the "corrected values" actually correct or is there something else happening? Is it better to have MPV use the sRGB profile and let the Profile Loader adjust the gamma ramps or should MPV also have my ICC profile applied?
I should note that the calibration did make my monitor a bit darker in terms of the general desktop environment, and maybe the "lifted blacks" are to compensate so they are not potentially crushed, and when something is being color managed with my profile it does seem to "look better" to my eyes but I'm still not sure if it is actually correct, I'm not really willing to spend hundreds of dollars for a more modern calibrator because color management is still something that is very new to me.
use shinchiro's build (more up to date) don't use hwdec if you have a good cpu, otherwise, use hwdec=auto. Also, read the manual to understand every setting you use. Some settings are defaults so no need to use it in your .conf
example of config: profile=gpu-hq #hwdec=auto #uncomment if you need it interpolation=yes video-sync=display-resample

mpvnet is one of the recommended media players according to the Jow Forums windows guide.
gpu-api=d3d11 gpu-context=d3d11 hwdec=d3d11va profile=gpu-hq video-sync=display-resample This works best for me. Test different APIs yourself.

recently youtube-dl has been failing on me for most formats unless I use a vpn
Not sure why this is happening considering I've had no problems for years and there have been no changes to my network recently (to my knowledge). Haven't really found anyone complaining about similar problems online either.

If it only works with a vpn then the problem is with your network or youtube is possibly doing something on their end.
