>Porn
I didn't realize first gen Atoms could even play video.

Collecting dust

Standard definition video plays fine.

That's a shame. Mine works well. Feels like it should have a better use. Linux is ditching 32 bit so that's a concern.

>just last year
>friend's PC completely breaks, uses it for basic office, email, web browsing, paying bills online
>has no funds available for a used one, asks for anything
>bring him netbook, hook up monitor, kb/mouse, printer and modem to it
Still uses it to this day.

I loved my AAO. Mine was red.
I had windows 7 on mine and I would race my bike home every night at 8pm from my shitty job in the sweltering heat of the summer to my shitty rat hole apartment then I would slam the door shut, peel off my monkey suit, and proceed to fap to degenerate porn before I made dinner.
Those were the fucking days.

comfy shitposting

MX Linux supports 32 bit.

Using Lubuntu right now because of low requirements.

The main Linux Kernel or just some distributions are ditching 32-bit?

>Standard definition video plays fine.
Depending on the model, even 1080i transport streams with on the fly deinterlacing play fine.

Attached: transportstream_on_netbook.jpg (1053x842, 220K)

mine sits on a shelf doing nothing. I thought about using it for some sort of home server because it has a 512gb hard drive and ethernet port. Before i stopped using it completely it was what I'd use on insecure networks, or if I wanted a computer with me but not a computer I'd miss if it got stolen or broken.

Now, tablets have pretty much replaced them.

I learned that the hard way last month. Surprise visit to the ER and a week of hospital stay. I have a 72 hour survival bag in my car with a shotgun. I had nothing for the hospital stay from hell but a 10 ft charger and a android phone.
Working on a used PC, updating it and then tossing on everything required to use it in a hospital environment. Including dos games, emulator and controller. I will never go through that again. If I had my netbook with me I wouldnt have had such a nightmare situation. I can accept dying but basic hospital TV, food and only the apps on my phone was not a good situation. Have a small bag just in case in your trunk, you might get stuck at a hotel for a few days or hospital. Be prepared.

I love them, they are so tiny

These types of computers should make a comeback. I don't want those "hurr 13 inch ultra slim" ultrabook garbage companies make nowadays.

network storage (that fan is annoying though). novel writing (if you got one without a fucked up right side shift key, thanks asus). photo slides (...porn).

hp stream, inspiron 11, and whatever acer call theirs.
my money is on the inspiron 11 because theres a version with a replaceable 128gb ssd and ram, instead of the soldered on junk.

Cheap web browser, but you might as well just get a chromebook at that point

Put your dick on the keyboard and slam the screen down as hard as you can over and over until you cum.

It worked you guys

I will never understand why people buy chromebooks. Compared to the regular shitty laptops you buy they're the same specs but double or triple the price since lol chromeOS I guess?

Emulator/music/browsing device.

they're for the tech-retarded or for people who don't wanna deal with the maintenance of a PC

But correct, you're most likely paying for the OS depending on which model you get

I bought it cuz i don't need anything powerful, it was the r13 acer, 4gigs ram, quad core arm cpu and 1080p screen with amazing batterylife. I got it for note writing and shit in school works well cuz no fans/bulk

Weebshit plays nice and reading mango is good aswell as standard size comics with very slight zooming.

remote access
they've lost nothing of their portability, battery should be fine to, and specs are well enough to run some teamviewer/nomachine etc and use full power of your main machine while on the go

we now have 2in1 tablets instead
surface go and all that jazz, I think dell made something decent in 8''

my bad, dell venue pro is 10,8 not 8
still small enough and has a full sized usb

Always on display for my security cameras

See, that one in particular costs an arse load of money for what it is where I am. Although for your uses a fullHD screen at least is important, I will admit. However my tablet from about 2 years ago cost less than the r13 costs here now while having a m7y30 CPU instead of the mediatek arm in the chromebook. Same ram, same screen resolution and such though. Came with keyboard and stylus, although the stylus is pretty fucking dogshit.

I'm using one of these as my main PC for now. It's usable, but i can't do much with it.

Much better than similarly sized modern tablets if you need the keyboard or want to use the various ports without fucking with dongles.
For anything else, like viewing videos or reading comics or something, tablets are probably the way to go.

Get the kind with AMD C-60 APU instead. It's still a potato but the CPU is far better than old Atom, and it's paired with a disproportionately strong Radeon instead of way underpowered Intel graphics.

Ahh, my good ole Asus Eee is chilling in a closet in perfect working condition. That lil guy was great, played diablo 2 on it in AP german all the time. Still got a 4 on the exam.

trying to install linux on it so I can use it as a seedbox during the whole day

sadly enough the screen only turns on when it's plugged in and the internal hard drive is half fried but oh well, you know how old these things are

quality post

was a poor fag and didnt have money to buy this cute little machines or an x220/x230 now there arent any more laptops produced like this anymore.

Write documents in the train

PiHole.

nothing, 32-bit processors are useless

tfw have this exact shell with an N270 sitting unused on a shell
I don't know how the fuck it managed it but it chewed through batteries and somehow there are burn marks under the keyboard.

It's nice to see how far netbooks have come and are now even passively cooled instead of active like these were.

This shit right here. They don't do too much, but that's alright, they weren't made to.

>1024x576
>porn

They can do more than shitphones and you kids sure love the fuck out of those.

TFW your first netbook is now on Jow Forums in an old tech thread.

Pretty much. Why are you mad, though? I use an Inspiron Mini and an iBook G4 all the time.

Lots of nostalgia for mine, too. It was blue. I took it to work and watched animu whenever it wasn't busy. I had tweaked the shit out of it... set it up on a ramdisk to boot/load incredibly fast.

>I'm so glad I spent the last hours of my life playing DOS games

One of my first PC monitors literally said "Low Radiation" on the bezel. I think you've got plenty of time left.

HEY! Druglord is total worth it. Not to mention tie-fighter, doom and dune 2. The rest of the world was pure shit.

what command is that?

Sequencing synthesizers for cheap

HardInfo is a small application that displays information about your
hardware and operating system. Currently it knows about PCI, ISA PnP, USB,
IDE, SCSI, Serial and parallel port devices.

thank you.
whats going on in that picture?

Me-tan is weak but some sort of Firewall-tan protects her?

I get it now, thanks again.

I had a first gen AAO A150X, upgraded the ram to 1.5GB, utilized the dual SD cards and even had Win10 on it before someone nagged me to sell it to him for cheap because he couldn't afford a proper laptop. I had a giant 9 cell triangle battery on it.

The wonky resolution made it incompatible with some programs which expected 768+ vertical resolution but it was workable.

I also had a AAO Happy Hawaii blue for a while until someone bugged me to sell it to them again. All round better with a slightly larger screen and chassis but slimmer for a much better keyboard, though it still had the wonky 600p vertical resolution. LED backlit screen was a plus as was the N550 2C/4T 64bit.

Before the AAOs I had the 700 and 900 eeepcs and they were fucking awful. the AAO blew them out of the water.

I use a 10.6" 1080P 2in1 tablet Cube i7 book these days, Core M3-6Y30 4G/64G and wacom digitalizer, it's great, and I can see why these things have replaced the netbook market. The only downside is that the keyboard is heavier than the tablet itself because it has to be that way so the tablet doesn't fall over when you dock it.
