I expect battery life on the Librem5 to be surprisingly good.

I have no idea, its due to release Q4 2019, you can check out the systems they have confirmed and see for yourself I guess. One would assume there's some navigation software on mainline Linux. OSM (well, OSMAnd) justworks for me though.

It's about minimizing data leakage. If your ISP knowing your location is a sunk cost you can still prevent google and other companies from knowing.
