I think Android's biggest weakness is that it's open source. If Google replaces it with a closed source platform like Fuchsia or whatever we will be better off.
Because right now manufacturers can build their shitware into the operating system and you're stuck with it, and if they don't provide updates for their phones you're SOL.
But if the platform is closed then the shitware will be removable like Windows laptop manufacturer shitware, and Google can provide operating system updates without users having to beg manufacturers.

My sister broke my Chromebook charging port, so I learned how to solder but it was still my first time removing and replacing something off a board. Short story, I spent hours trying to remove the soldered port, and I couldn't get all the solder out, and I ultimately said fuck it and pull it out and broke the pins off. Then, when I went to solder the new part back on, I just laid it on top of the left over pin. Needless to say, it didn't work, and I gave up. I probably burned the shit out of the board, and I couldn't get all solder out of the previous connector...

Later my mother bought the same for my younger sister and she ended up breaking the screen after a 2 feet drop. Chromebooks are garbage. So I just salvaged the screen from mine...

I still mainly use Windows because I don't wan't to upset my dad. It's a long story.

Let's say I buy a ThinkPad. It comes with some weird Lenovo shit like their giant Wi-Fi status bar in the Windows taskbar and other Lenovo garbage. I can just uninstall that because it's still running regular Windows. Compare to Samsung's Android variant. Can't uninstall Bixby, can't uninstall Facebook, because they are built into the operating system instead of just programs running on top of a standard OS.

If I buy some random Dell laptop I can get updates from Microsoft. I don't have to rely on Dell to make custom versions of Windows updates for me. I have an HTC U11 Life. At some point I was prompted to update from 7.something to 8.0, and I figured why not. However Android 8.0 introduced some minor annoyances that weren't present in 7, but were resolved in 8.1. But I can't get an update directly from Google. I have to hope HTC gifts me with their own version of 8.1, which I know they won't.

Why are these types of youtube videos so popular? I remember when I first ever looked on youtube, the only good series I found was on JustBASIC from some nerdy as guy who I thought was a woman at first (he's now an aerospace engineer, dude is a genius, forget the channel, but if you look for "JustBASIC tutorial", you'll find him). I larp /cyb/ but I'm more into music than I am privacy or cybersecurity. I love privacy but I can't give up windows 10 for games or music production. I've just settled with the fact that I'm going to just have a separate laptop from my windows 10 PC that I can indulge in Linux privacy shit in and try to only use my windows PC for intensive programs.

Also I can't give up discord because it's replaced all social media and most of SMS so I can't be botnet free. I also can't work on my Linux install because it requires a Google account and a browser without AdBlock.

I think people who say Linux has enough games or tools to get games working on Linux probably don't play games.

Tech kinda makes me miserable especially after discovering Jow Forums because Jow Forums is correct about alot of things but to pursue an ideal Jow Forums setup actually costs money and time and you end up with nothing. I fixed the network and submitted a dated invoice with the expectation of payment within one month. He didnt pay. I sent a ping to his network on port 28282. This activated a tiny bit of code to send a single byte to a small box with usb cable attached to it via a usb prort. This triggered a simple electronic lock on the box which opened. The box was located in the case of a server which was in a serverr room with 5 other severs. Inside the box was a shit and several wads of toilet paper on which I had wiped my arse

I have one laptop just for c# and python programming. Yes, it runs windows that I have bought legally and lot of the Shitty software I wrote (like my own "implementation" of Edge in C# into my own browser called BigDik). And my mine computer is MacAir (honestly, kinda good for the work I do).
