Once they put gcn on 7nm (navi) it will be ok and clock pretty good at least 2ghz core at similar thermals.

It's 180W at stock settings which makes it 10-15% slower than a GTX1080. You can overclock Vega 56 to GTX1080 performance but by that point you are looking at 250W+ power consumption.

it's not 10-15% slower. it's 5% at most.
vega's big problem is that they somehow managed to tune it extremely poor out of factory (even more so on the refernce version). you can easily get more than 10% extra performance at the same 180w.
meanwhile, the 1080 already ocs itself and the gains from manual oc at the same power draw are minimal.
that said, 180w on vega is just the theoretical power limit in software, in reality it uses a bit more so probably it is less efficient, but by a really small margin.

Yeah, my bad, heaters do have almost 100% efficiency, while semiconductors close to 0%. I wanted to say that microchips are as good at producing heat as heaters. So TDP ~ Power Draw.
