Thoughts on kindles?

I personally love mine. Makes it possible to carry multiple books in very small space, also I find it more comfortable for reading as some books are uncomfortable to hold, especially in public transport. Makes it great to read at night also. The best part of course is the ability to download any book you want for free if you know where to look.

and read a book

Got the new Paperwhite, only have two books on it though. My plan was to use it for certification studies but that hasn't really taken off yet

don't have kindle but i do have a pocketbook. it's pretty good. i read manga on it. it's not good if you're looking for something to read workbooks on but if you're i guess it's alright.

I prefer real books, I love owning actual books and the smell of paper. But e-reader (more precisely e-ink) are truly one of the greatest piece of technology released in the last decade.

have sex

a compact laptop with a keyboard and a full unix-like environment is infinitely more useful for anything but casual fiction reading

Imagine being so retarded that you feel superior for reading books on paper.

literally me.

Fucking locked-down shit.
Wait for the fixed version of Kobo forma instead.

For big complex PDF (studies) I would more recommend an 8 to 10" tablet. Something like a Mi Pad is pretty nice. For anything more complex than simple text (novels mostly) the e-reader isn't the best.

I have a 3 year old Glare that I use for reading literature mostly. It's quite comfy, although the
screen size is a bit small. As other anons have mentioned being able to pirate books is really nice. I think I've read around 60 books on it since buying it.

How do you find it?I was thinking about switching
to a Paperwhite and giving mine to my brother after I make some money, but I am not sure if it's worth changing.

Dust collector, but maybe that's just because I can't read anything less exciting than a Jow Forums thread without wanting to gouge my eyes out.

It's shit. Buy Kobo.

I miss the ereader generals because they had good non-Kindle recommendations. Whats the current list of worthwhile ereaders?

I have the first kindle that released like 10 years ago now and it still works fine.

>How do you find it?
The lighting's really good and the text is easy to read. I think it's good for what it is.
Although one time the book I bought from the in-device store just disappeared for some reason. I think I got it back by updating it or something.

Durex

bought a nook for $15 at half priced books.
download pdfs and load them on my microSD card, never need to buy books or magazines again.
It's also just powerful enough with a decent enough webbrowser to shitpost on Jow Forums.
Love it

Personally I think that 6 and 7" is just too small, so I went with a pocketbook inkbook 3 and so far I'm very happy with it. Would recommend.

but girls dont like me

Kindles are locked-down botnet, get a Boyue chinkreader

I have one. Definitely more comfy than any other device and even books. If you have the money and read a lot it's worth it.
Not to mention that you can download ebooks for free.

yeah kobo checking in

this. Kindle is locked down now compared to how they used to be back in the Kindle w/keyboard days. Get a Kobo and install KOreader.

No and that's unironically a good thing!

E–books are "real books".

>and even books
Fucking neck yourself tranny.

Got one as a gift. It's a paper weight now. Unironically find it easier to read on ipad.

what did he mean by this?

I mean physical books user. I would like to have pic related in my house someday.

They're absolutely based. I love mine. I just wish Amazon would release an updated Voyage. I'm also interested in the Kobo line.

Imagine being so mad that owning a lot of paper in your house doesn't make you interesting anymore (not like it ever did anyway).

>I just wish Amazon would release an updated Voyage.
I can't find the Voyage anymore on Amazon, did they can it? I currently have a Paperwhite and was thinking of upgrading, but the Oasis seems a bit much.

Yep, it's officially discontinued. Oasis is the only one above Paperwhite now.

I see... Might get one someday, but currently I don't see the value. I also took the Paperwhite because it had back screen lighting but I think even the regular one has it now. I am almost certain the base Kindle and Paperwhite are sold at almost no margin during sales because they intend on making the money back with e-books.

The one thing about books is maintaining their quality over years seems like work

Indeed, even more when you're actually reading them. Every time I am reading a book and I tear a little the page while turning it it enrages me lol

this post was definitely written by a true intellectual

y-you wanna watch, user-kun?

Kindle Paperwhite + KoReader for full potential. It helps to manage big PDF archives in shorter times. It also let you crop the margins and adjust other shits. It's literally perfect.

Have a kindle keyboard (3), kindle 4, paper white, and a 7”(?) fire.
Keyboard was nice, 4 was a chore to use since everything had to be done via the directional pad. Fire is basically a cheap android tablet. Love the paper white, retains the spirit of an d-reader, but the touch screen makes it way nicer to use than the 4.

Maybe. I could’ve sworn I got some video service to run on this before. I haven’t tried jailbreaking it yet though. But no sound.

Smartphones are better

when does that come out?

Avoid the ones with low PPI screens.
