Japanese cans from the 60s. I transplanted MDR-V6 drivers into them

why?

No, but don't forget all the marketing- and beancounter-driven crap you had to sift through to find the gems.

why not? build quality is better than the sony

any opinion on a sony TA-3650?

No experience but it's a good era for Sony. Doesn't have the unobtainium V-FETs, so it's a safer bet than a 4650/5650. Will need restoration due to age.

That looks depressing.

better?

never been a huge fan a NAD, ill give .1 though for growing the collection.

40 year old electrolytics gotta go. The big can caps might be ok for a while. Test for capacitance.

I got this at goodwill recently for $14.
It has input output for the amp too on the side so I can probably use the amp side of it for something. Or pick up some old reel to reel tapes for it. At least one for display

Regret it every day

>tfw was trying to bid on a sony 700es integrated amp
>tfw got my bid to 275 buck chickened out
>sold for 310
>regret it everyday, havent seen one on ebay since.

If you want good shit and get good shit keep it. Only sell it if you NEED the money.

I've heard there are nice amps in some of those. Don't expect much power, though.

it at least is solid state amp though.
It is confusing because I read that AKAI was their Japan market brand and in the US they sold under ROBERTS. But it seems not the case. Either way they only sell for like ~200 shipped on ebay. Not a expensive unit but I bought it to look good as art and maybe use the amp for something now and then.

is A&D the Japanese brand and AKAI the international

This is only semi related, but I don't want to shit up the catalog with a new thread.
I broke my headphones and am now using some chink shit at the moment to listen to music on my OnePlus 6. The sound is salvageable, but as with most cheap phone headphones my phone goes batshit crazy and constantly pauses/plays the music, changes tracks and raises the volume. Or starts the fucking Google Assistant.
Would installing some headset control app work if I'd remap every control to nothing?
