Is it possible to get into the cyber security field without a security clearance? How are sponsorships looking these days?

If you work outside of government, why would you need security clearance? Just get another job and keep smoking weed

I work in shitty IT right now, seems like most security jobs require a clearance.

Really? I've only heard of that kind of stuff for government contracts.

Must be the area I live in (Near D.C.). Feels pretty brutal here with those requirements. Just hoping things get better when I finish my bacehlors.

Yes, work for someone not affiliated with the government, obviously.

some govt contractors require security clearance. otherwise most private sector jobs dont require it.

You could probably work in the computer lab at a local community college. But no, you can't work with any seriously sensitive data in the US without one. And if you browse and post on Jow Forums regularly, this will come up in their investigations on you and you will probably not be granted a clearance.

gee user i don't know why don't you ask them yourselves

BUT WHAT IF THE PERSON GRANTING CLEARANCES ALSO CLEARED IVANKA AND ERIC AND DON JR HUH CHECKMATE, ATHEIST

There's a difference between a facility clearance and a personal clearance. Depending on your role, you may not need a PC if your organization has a FC. Read up on the NISPOM if you're seriously curious

lol "weed" waht a doomask

I've been working in cybersecurity for almost 10 years now. I make about $150k/yr. Never had a clearance. And I don't want one... Gov jobs don't pay this nicely

Plenty of Jow Forums users have a security clearance. They don't give a fuck. The average Jow Forums user would probably be more concerned about taste in porn, especially if they actually bought some of it. It'd probably be easy to blackmail a lolicon or some other fetish with dubious legality, you know?

Fucking retard. No one cares that you vist Jow Forums. It's no fucking secret. No one cares. They only care about debt, chance of debt, behavioral health, past proven criminal actions and allegiance.

>Is it possible to get into the cyber security field without a security clearance?
nope.

So they don't mind if I visit doggosplayhouse.com.br? What about my penchant for neko Moot? I bought 3 t-shirts, that's it.

fuck off glownigger, we dont want you here

A clearance saves the company money on getting you checked. Already having a clearance means that the company can propose more trust in you, and, if the company is big enough, offer you bigger and better positions up the chain. In a perfect world, clearances wouldn't exist and there would be no competition for these positions though.

>government literally uses a polygraph examination proven not to be accurate
If it weren't for that gay shit I'd be happy to work for them
