How do I "Learn to Code?"

How do I "Learn to Code?"
from the absolute beginning.

a = 1
b = 2
a = b
b = a
What are the values of a and b now?

Not OP!

how is that coding?

download a smarter way to learn javascript by mark myers. it breaks you in gently and is easy

a=2
b=2

I remember reading somewhere that 70% of population can't grasp the concept of variables and that pretty much determines if someone can learn to code or not.

congratulations. you both have autism.
a trait very sought-after in the programming world!

Is this a real test? Its easy or Im blessed with Super Saiyen Autism

wouldnt a b 2 and a b 1?

trick questions a is now b and b is now a

Retard

Show us how to solve it retard

It's called the Autism test because people who are autistic think that the answer must be contained within two dimensions.

Attached: 1558051088227.jpg (1140x1128, 1.14M)

those lines are crossing though unless you draw some support beams

That means that 70% of the population can't do algebra? I know people are stupid, but are they really that stupid?

No lines uses, only curves

To answer OPs question:

>make “hello world”s in java, python, ruby, C, anything
>buy an intro textbook about Java or C or whatever
>read the book and practice the lessons in software that you write
>be constantly looking for new opportunities to apply this, and make up any excuse to program
>split a check after taxes using a parser to determine tax by state from user input, create a secret-Santa random-assignment program, program a script that does [thing]. Write down every idea for a program you come up with, and make those up while working through the intro book
>do the same with C, this will go much faster this time cuz now you know linked lists and for loops and shit like that
>do the same with C++ or C#
>do the same with Python
>buy an advanced book on data structures or OOP or algorithms or etc. etc.

Literally just read textbooks and try to find ways to apply it whenever possible. You won’t learn to code by watching YouTube videos of faggots building gaming PCs this or doing quickruns

Figure out what you want to do. Research it. Do it. Hit a roadblock. Find a solution to that roadblock. Repeat.

im taking a free fundamentals of programming course on coursera. afterwards Im gunna start with C

were gunna make it OP

Go to school.

Once you get out there in the real world, you're going to be surprised. The number of idiots is literally insane, and we have no idea what to do with them. We are literally malinvesting into idiots to prop up non farm payroll.

Yes this means that over half of people with an IQ of 100 can not perform calculations beyond elementary algebra.

If only you knew how bad things really are...

Bruh, just do it. Pick up a book and work though it. Watch a course online and follow along. Whatever, doesn't matter. You'll waste time trying to figure out the 'best' way to do something before you realize there isn't one.

You forgot to supply water to the rightmost house.

Yeah but it has blue electricity. That's even better than water.

>finish comp sci degree along with pajeets and future diversity hires
>now in debt
>OP still can't program

Attached: 1530892452485.png (850x850, 126K)

Why would you be in debt when you're paid to go to college? Also my job has zero Pajeets.

dude you're fucking blind

So the solution was to deliver electrified water with a flammable gas dissolved in there too?
Pretty neat tbqhbbq

Read SICP

>deliver gas, water and electricity
>deliver hot water aswell

you need a solid foundation in mathematics, work through an undergraduate analysis textbook then ask again.

depends on what you want to do with this skill
if you are not sure yet, start with any introductory guide, no matter what language is used in them
has some stuff sometimes

Lmao @ the retards ITT who can't tell this is bait since they never studied basic graph theory.

Do it the hard way. Start with C, and don't cheat.

Are you implying starting with some other language is cheating?

>imperative programming

Attached: 1557784506378.png (504x470, 449K)

I recommend starting with c++ because it teaches you the basics and doesn't do too much stuff for you and then move on to JavaScript cuz it's really easy to make gui/interactive apps in it (I know js is a meme but still it's very easy to get into)

Download this app: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alansa.ideabag2
It's a bunch of programming ideas, it will help you if you're not sure what to do next

When you're comfortable with js move on to rust because it's the best programming language

Attached: Screenshot_20190517-124929.jpg (1080x1920, 416K)

Come on, whether you like it or not, C++ is way too large and complicated for a total beginner. It leads to worry about tons of language-specific details which are secondary for someone who is starting out and still has to get the bigger picture.

Know the basic syntaxes and functions of java,c,python,javascript and c++
...Still shit at mathematics, always have been. What do?

f
Tbh I agree I only did some very basic c++. And maybe I'd recommend c# if it wasn't for forced classes

>huh why do i suck at math after learning programming
>it's almost like i should study math itself instead of learning languages

>huh why do i suck at math after learning programming
That's not what i meant or what i wanted to imply but okay

spotted the non-programmer/millenial

There's a significant percentage of people out there that have NO inner dialog. They have no word-based thoughts in their head at all.

The military has some of the best research on this, because they had to be ready for invasion so they had to know his many people could be trained and relied on to protect the country.

They determined that enlistees with ASVABs below an IQ-equivalent of 83 could not be trusted with ANY role in the military. These people would need so much supervision that even keeping them around as cooks and janitors was not worth it.

10% of the US has an IQ below 83. 10% of people are literally unemployable.

The average black IQ is 85. 50% of black men age 22-65 are unemployed.

Telling these people to "learn to code" is like tell your dog to learn to speak.

human pop really needs some culling

>connect electricity to gas
Nice

>There's a significant percentage of people out there that have NO inner dialog. They have no word-based thoughts in their head at all.
How is this even possible?

>"only one thing can go through the connections, user!"
see

And the opposite trend is occurring -- dummies breeding at faster rates and being propped up by welfare paid for by competent people with no kids.

This is not a normal human trend. Wealthier families used to have more kids than average.

Kacynski may have been right.

I don't know. I can't even fathom life without it.

psychologytoday.com/us/blog/pristine-inner-experience/201110/not-everyone-conducts-inner-speech

And you're here, unemployed and without a relevant college degree posting "facts" on a Mongolian weaving forum.

It's almost like the majority of 4chink posters are either hypocrites, unironically retards, spergs or manchildren.

I have an BS and and MS and CS and I'm a software engineer in the bay area. Nice projection, neetlet

not OP but, in america we have to take loans and shit that's where the debt comes from.

spotted the bitter boomer, can't explain his reasoning because he is obviously wrong

throwing a tantrum and projecting right after won't make your previous post any less retarded, you know.

What a good way to learn programming rather than code
Like I know some languages in terms of I know the syntax and I can write a program and compile it but I don't know anything about best practise or any of the real-life rules of programming

I started in C++, it's a tough start but it gives you a taste of everything once you get into it

I got paid $500-$1500 per semester at SFSU to attend. I forgot the exact amount. This was after tuition.

All three houses have access to each. Water house, electric house, gas house.

unequivocally based

Attached: 20190517_122245.jpg (1140x1128, 1.15M)

i'm still waiting, you can blubber all the usual "heh ur projecting" cope speak, but it still doesn't answer the problem

I think you mean this

It's so unfortunate. What is a society to do with the bottom 10%?

...by coding?

and it's hard how?

Attached: 1558051088227.jpg (1140x1128, 627K)

This is smart, but not the right answer, because it is specifically stated that you are not allowed to cross any lines. Each drawn house consists of lines.

You should start with reading this book
amazon.com/Code-Language-Computer-Hardware-Software/dp/0735611319/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=CODE&qid=1558113534&s=gateway&sr=8-2

you stumble around a lot, and try to make sense of the terminology. there's a looot of terminology, so try to familiarize yourself with a some of the language involved in explaining the fundamental concepts, even if you have no fucking idea what any of what you are reading means.
It will help you later to recall concepts and learn more comprehensively, imo

python. it will teach you to code then after you learn it you will realize how shit it is and that it can't actually do much of anything and then learn C.

you dont ever fully understand programming

you just do what your job requires, and you get good after sitting on that computer chair for a few years, all while all your friends in better jobs get paid more and have a functional social life, get married and have kids.

You'll have the sweetest computer build ever though, not that youl use it for much more than porn and playing games made in 2009

>you dont ever fully understand programming
>you just do what your job requires, and you get good after sitting on that computer chair for a few years

there are only: one sentence, and two clauses in this post that are true. The rest is all situation

No! thats was my mistake
install codeblocks and start with C you can read the documentations grab some books or watch C 101 on youtube..
after that you can choose better what to learn..

Got the same problem as another user in this thread, I basically "know" c c++ java js python as in how to write code that does run, basic sorting algorithms or data structures like lists but I have no idea what to program also how to go about it. Like should I just decide to focus on one language and start using some framework and do stuff there cause that's what it feels like if I look at those coding channels in youtube.

Step 1: Read this.
Step 2: Do all the exercises.

Congratulations! You are now a programmer.
