Is 0 AD the greatest open source game of all time?

godot is open source, i cant believe not a single game has been made with it and beeing open source too; game developers are nigger tier compared with the rest of programmers

i was exited for hematite
gfx deprecation for gfx-hal killed the project

hopefully someone retries it
maybe i will myself work towards it

no, that is supertux kart

>maybe i will myself work towards it

No you won't.

...

you are right im lazy and i rather work in more serious things

I thought you're joking but it looks pretty good desu.

0ad is actually a pretty good game, best RTS since Rise of Nations.

OpenArena

i was looking into game engines or sdks or whatever and it seems like godot is the most reasonable out of all of them because it doesn't handicap shit to try and make it appealing to people who don't want to code.

the other game engine project that will be ready in the near future is amethyst.rs
also, blender may reintroduce a new opensource game engine next year

youtube.com/watch?v=s1rNOABsWtI

okay so the sound effects are complete trash but i am oddly attracted to the very simple geometry and textures and the very pleasing cart physics

OpenMW is the GOAT

thats a video from 2012
its way better now

I definitely agree in that regard, it's refreshing
Too bad I have 0 motivation

It SHOULD be but it isn't. They fucked themselves over when they picked a retarded open source graphics engine and then, when they were almost finished, switched. That was about 4 years ago and they are just now getting back to reimplementing shadows.

M-x tetris

Why has nobody made an ancient rome/greece open-ended city builder?

>0a.d. when the whole Microsoft's "Age of" franchise exists
beyond saving

Are you the same guy who couldn't figure out to use a wand of digging in this situation? You posted this on r/dcss

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA my fucking sides
windows is perfect for gaming
if you use linux it should be because you don't give a fuck about games kiddo

im playing css these days
r8 my progress

Caesar 3 still exists and is pretty much abandonware now

>OpenSpades
>HyperRogue
>Screeps
These are fun. Not free as in freedom but still open source and well made.

>brainlet
This is not 2010, many steam games are released on Linux and proton exists.

Windows is only good for Japanese console ports and the latest AAA shit, all relevant games are either supported or work through WINE.

Yeah.
Also in-home streaming exists. I use headless windows machine and stream unsupported games to my linux laptop or TV.

thing is, Godot doesnt ask for anything ad-wise for their engine. A really great game you have played might have been developed in Godot, but you would have no idea.

>OpenSpades
I wish there were active servers running the default map generation.

>tfw you're working on an open source gaming without using any niggerlicous game engines

Attached: 1556387134963.png (1000x1800, 51K)

So you use Windows for games

>not developing your own engine

You don't need an engine when making a game.

You do know that the PS4 has a BSD-based OS, right? You do know that the reason Linux is not the perfect choice for games is only because of its marketshare, right? You do know than nobody gives a shit about .NET or DirectX bullshit, right?

no, 0 ad is native

I will make a FOSS game one day.

Attached: 1558323884930.jpg (1080x1349, 122K)

Rarely. Last game I played on it which can't be run on Linux was Far Cry 3.
I use Windows for other games only when I have guest and want to show off steam link setup. It's more reliable than Arch when it comes to in home streaming.

0ad is better

Julius, open source remake or Caesar 3

MITlets lose again

Why not today? There has never been a better time.

nigger, that's the least of their problems
the team has one too few anal aspergians, and the one guy who actually did something quit over some bullshit "muh ebil microsoft" fuckery when MS acquired github

vim+syntastic+gdb if you're not an enterprise worker

The best absolute time to start writing a FOSS game was 20 years ago.
The second best time is now.

openttd

wasm version
milek7.pl/openttd-wasm/

Oh yeah i know that too. Fucking scrawl.

Open New Vegas when?

Did someone say GAMING?!?

the #1

no, that is Liero

I could write you a lengthy essay on why STK is shit and people should stop using it as a poster child for FOSS games.
With SRB2 Kart we now even have a better FOSS kart racer than this turd.

The real question is OpenJA when? Fallout is for tourists.

>What are you playing?
>What are you excited for?
Pic related.

We have OpenJK too

team fortress 2

i'm excited for hl3

Wolfenstein ET

I played that shit on an old laptop, at first it was kinda fun. But those RNG mechanics are complete bullshit.

How the fuck is that related?

I wish I could but I have other stuff to do. I have other, more important (=basic, you need to learn to crawl before you learn to walk) projects in mind and also I want to learn math. But it will happen one day, hopefully at most in a year.
